  1. Yep... the 19th. Typo on my part!
  2. Well to be fair... Famous Dave's isn't the one who prohibits carry in their restaurant. It's the State of Tennessee that you can blame for that one. :-\
  3. You may carry in restaurants like O'Charleys, Logans Roadhouse, Applebees, etc. up there. You cannot carry in any establishment (like a bar) where the majority of their revenue comes from alcohol sales. Restaurants typically do not fall into that category because food sales outweigh their booze sales. You also may not drink while you carry in such places.
  4. Those two malls almost require full body armor anymore.
  5. Yost-Bonitz.... sweeeeet.
  6. Yes. It was primarily a PC/Mac superstore until they started dabbling in home audio and video a few years back. There is (or was) a location at both the 100 Oaks Mall and at the Coolsprings Galleria area in Nashville. Best Buy has pretty much killed them.
  7. Saturday January 19th (2008) at 11:30am Famous Dave's BBQ in Smynra, TN Click here for map and driving directions Our December '07 outing was a success so let's keep the momentum going! Just to keep things simple, we'll keep the format identical and then consider alternative restaurant venues as we move forward. We will meet for lunch at Famous Dave's in Smyrna. After lunch we will head to the On Target indoor shooting range in Murfreesboro,TN (click for map) to get in some range time. I would expect that we will arrive at On Target somewhere around 2:00pm and be there for a couple of hours. I would remind everyone that Famous Dave's does serve alcohol for on-premises consumption. When you arrive at Famous Dave's, the party will be seated under the name "T G O" ... so you can ask the hostess to be seated with us, or you can just look for me and any others sporting the TGO ball caps. See you then!
  8. The title of this thread was "perfect 1911" .... You lose. Actually I would love to have a non-bobtail, government length CQB in black Armor Tuff with the same setup that you listed. I just loves me some Pro Bobtail for CCW so I can't knock the bobtail at all. Love the gun, love the grip. But the CQB would be loads of fun for OWB carry and general range frivolity.
  9. I went to the 100 Oaks CompUSA store today and was informed that... There are no more returns on anything purchased there There are no more corporate net sales There is no longer a corporate discount Employees themselves no longer receive commission or discounts Basically, CompUSA now sucks even worse than they did before.
  10. You know, it's a shame that we don't have a middle TN version of Phantom6 with land and a private range to shoot at. I was just looking at Bob-E's photos from this past weekend and recalling that the guys who rented the HK SMG had muzzle raked me a few times to the point that I finally walked over and told the guy to keep the damn barrel pointed at the floor or down range. I'm sure he thought I was a real a-hole for that, but I'd rather be the a-hole who left the range walking instead of in a body bag or on a stretcher because some assclown was exercising poor muzzle control. Sorry, did I just go off on a rant?
  11. Vista isn't bad but you've got to have the machine to support it. I run it on my Thinkpad with CoreDuo/2GB, my Dell GX620 with CoreDuo/2GB and my homebuilt home computer with an AMD64 and 2GB. They all run just fine. I wouldn't buy a Mac and then ruin it by installing Windows even though you can. Leopard is a nice OS and I'd run it in a heartbeat.
  12. I have a parkerized Bersa 380 and it's on "ok" gun but I can think of so many better options in that price range. Please have her try a few other guns before you let her settle on the Bersa, or a .380 for that matter.

They are in Winchester. About an hour and a half from Nashville proper. It's a decent haul but worth it if you're shopping for 1911s. As per my previous statement about the internal extractor vs the external extractor on a Kimber, let me clarify. I had zero problems with my external extractor "Generation 2" gun. But in order of preference, you really want the internal extractor. A Generation 1 gun is best, but the Generation 3 guns are just fine as well. The big difference is that the Gen 1 guns don't use (as much) MIM internal parts whereas the Gen 3 guns do use MIM parts. This isn't as big a deal as some people make it out to be, but some folks prefer machined billet to cast metal. Either of the CDPs that I and my brother traded in would be very good carry weapons. I'd just go for the one Kris had as opposed to the one I had, if you have the choice.
  14. This is going to be long-winded but here goes... Malls are typically owned by property management companies. My own employer has a number of these companies as clients. These companies are well represented by their lawyers. Lawyers generally are not dumb and these companies usually seek their counsel on things like posting signs, especially when the signs tread on legal issues. The fact that these malls post in one or two locations (if at all) or post signs with verbiage that is not in keeping with the TCA prescription, suggests to me several things: #1.) That they post simply to keep the sheep confident in the illusion that they are safe. #2.) That they knowingly leave loopholes for carry permit holders to walk through. #3.) That they also give themselves plausible deniability if you end up having to protect yourself (or flip out and kill innocent people before another HCP holder takes you down) because they can always refer the news media back to their one or two signs "prohibiting" firearms.

Well you ruined the surprise. Guess there's no point in it now.

I'm going to own another Wilson at some point. I have my heart set on a CQB 5" in black. Maybe I can sell a kidney... Bob-E if you decide to head down there soon and want company, give me a shout. I need to go pick up some 5.11 tacticool pants for a Christmas gift.

Werd. And you want the one that Verbal owned. Internal extractor!
  19. Repair parts for XDs are non-existent because Springfield forces you to send the firearm back to them for service. They won't sell replacement parts to you for you to install.
  20. We occasionally use the local CompUSA for things that we need in a pinch. Mostly I order from CDW. I always hating going to CompUSA, especially if I was wearing any clothing with an IT related logo on it (polo shirt, etc.) because the resident geeks would always try to show you how much they knew about a given subject. It got tiring.
  21. Very cool pics! I still love the one of the HK with the bolt open!
  22. Had a great time! I'm up for shooting some evening during the week if anyone wants to try it. As for the next get together... we'll plan one for January and try to keep the momentum going!
  23. I have heard that Opry Mills is posted at the entrance near the Rainforest Cafe but I have never actually noticed any such sign on my visits to that mall.
  24. I'll hold on the JB Weld for now. I ordered another front sight and will just keep this one's fiber inserts as extras for the new unit.
  25. We are confirmed at Famous Daves for 11:30. See you all there!
