  1. We occasionally use the local CompUSA for things that we need in a pinch. Mostly I order from CDW. I always hating going to CompUSA, especially if I was wearing any clothing with an IT related logo on it (polo shirt, etc.) because the resident geeks would always try to show you how much they knew about a given subject. It got tiring.
  2. Very cool pics! I still love the one of the HK with the bolt open!
  3. Had a great time! I'm up for shooting some evening during the week if anyone wants to try it. As for the next get together... we'll plan one for January and try to keep the momentum going!
  4. I have heard that Opry Mills is posted at the entrance near the Rainforest Cafe but I have never actually noticed any such sign on my visits to that mall.
  5. I'll hold on the JB Weld for now. I ordered another front sight and will just keep this one's fiber inserts as extras for the new unit.
  6. We are confirmed at Famous Daves for 11:30. See you all there!
  7. Hahahah! Don't think I didn't try a little Locktite!
  8. It is marked for SIG Sauer, so if I ever buy another SIG I can try that.
  9. Midway USA sent me an envelope of goodies today. I got two low-profile aluminum Wilson Combat mag baseplates and swapped them onto two of my #47D mags. They look a lot better in the bobtail than the ETMs do... so I guess that means I need a Gov't length gun for my other mags now. They also sent me a nice Hi-Viz fiberoptic front sight for my XD9 Tactical. These sights always require a little hand fitting with a jeweler's file so no big deal. I set about to install it today and finally made the mistake I have avoided making for several sets. I ran the file across the metal base twice too many times, and well... the sight is too loose in the dovetail. I wonder if Hi-Viz or Midway will have mercy on me and let me get a replacement at a little lower price, or if I can consider this paying my Stupid Tax for 2007.
  10. Definitely. I was just thinking about this a few minutes ago. I'm glad someone posted it!
  11. Welcome to the group!
  12. I have owned an XD 9mm Service (4") model and an XD 45ACP Compact model. My ex has owned an XD 9mm Compact but sold it in favor of an M&P 9mm Compact. I now own an XD 9mm Tactical (5") model that I will use for gaming and just generally enjoying the heck out of at the range. I put 100 rounds through it a week ago and loved every single one. That little gun has quickly become my 2nd favorite toy. The first being the Wilson, of course.
  13. I will call and talk to Sean about it today or tomorrow. I suspect there's not much they can do, but if you have an annual membership that technically is supposed to give you priority access to a lane.
  14. I had Dan Burwell do a trigger job on my M&P 40. It was very nice, but it made the take-up even longer (nothing he can do about that) and I never could quite get used to that aspect. I have an XD-9 Tactical now for gaming and love it. I might do the PistolGear "drop-in trigger job" after I've had some more range time with it, but honestly I am tempted to just leave it alone. It's quite nice where it's at.
  15. I greatly prefer the XD trigger to the M&P trigger. So there.
  16. REMINDER... 11:30am, Famous Daves, Smyrna, Saturday the 8th. The party will be seated under the name "TGO" so just ask the hostess to be directed to us. I am going to call tomorrow (Friday) and request an area to accommodate 16 people.
  17. Call off the search, I think we have our man.
  18. On a side note... it sounds like Saturday at 11:30am is not the time anyone wants to try to come and rob Famous Dave's.
  19. If we ever get the chance to shoot together, I'll bring the XD9 with me and you can give it a spin.
  20. My sister in law sent that to me.
  21. Have you had the chance to shoot an XD yet? You might really like them. I was absolutely floored at how accurate and fun my XD 9mm Tactical was the first time I shot it.
  22. A perfect example of why there are so many different choices of handguns. To me, this reads that the Glock's grip angle was perfect for your body's natural mechanics. You might have been able to adjust to the Walther, but I think a gun should feel and point like a natural extension of your hand.
  23. I bought my Glock 23 for several reasons... Affordable Durable Easy to maintain Simplified controls Reputation I sold my Glock 23 for only two reasons... Really didn't like the feel of the grip / grip angle Didn't like the unsupported chamber design That said, I really have nothing in particular against Glocks at all. I think they are fine, simple, rugged weapons. The lack of external safeties other than the trigger safety does not bother me at all, but I think that the person handling the weapon needs to have some common sense and intelligence about him or her. Would I own another? Maybe. It would just have to fit a niche need that some other gun couldn't in order for me to go back to one.
  24. Carry a spare mag 90% of the time. I don't carry more than that and honestly don't see myself carrying a backup gun anytime soon. There comes a point when you have to ask yourself, does this backup gun look right with the body armor I'm wearing or the Squad Automatic Weapon slung across my back? Or will carrying it make me look excessively paranoid to the sheep?
  25. Hahah... seems pretty Mr. & Mrs. Smith doesn't it?
