  1. Which time? When they surrendered... or when they surrendered?
  2. Thought this was interesting enough to share.
  3. USPSA Acquires Steel Challenge Sedro-Woolley, WA — The United States Practical Shooting Association announced that it has acquired the Steel Challenge and the Steel Challenge Shooting Association from founders Mike Dalton and Mike Fichman. “The Steel Challenge is a natural fit for USPSA and we look forward to both growing the match as well as Steel Shooting in general,” said Dave Thomas, Executive Director of USPSA. “One of our primary goals is to greatly expand the role of the Steel Challenge Shooting Association here in the US and internationally. Working closely with our more than 16,000 members and 350 affiliated clubs, we see a very bright future for the Steel Challenge.” The Steel Challenge World Speed Shooting Championships were founded in 1981 with just 70 shooters competing for $20,000 in cash and prizes that first year. In the 26 years since, the match has grown to become one of the crown jewels of the shooting circuit and the premier professional pistol competition with more than 220 of the world’s fastest shooters competing for over $390,000 in cash and prizes in 2007. “We founded the Steel Challenge out of our love for the shooting sports. We wanted a match that was challenging and fun but would also be easily understood by non-shooters who would see the competition and find within themselves a greater desire to join the shooting sports,” said Mike Fichman. “The fact that today the Steel Challenge is the premier shooting competition with competitors travelling from around the world to compete gives us great pride. We have watched this match grow far beyond what we could have ever imagined 26 years ago. However, we realized that our once small match is now at a point that requires greater resources to move to the next level and USPSA has the expertise and organizational structure to do just that,” said Mike Dalton. Mike Dalton and Mike Fichman, regarded as two of the most accomplished shooting event organizers and promoters, will stay on through the 2008 championships to insure a smooth transition with sponsors and competitors as well as train USPSA personnel on running the Steel Challenge. Dalton and Fichman will also serve as Match Directors for the 2008 Steel Challenge which will again be held in Piru, CA, August 14-17. – 30 – About USPSA: The United States Practical Shooting Association is a non-profit membership association affiliated with the International Practical Shooting Confederation (I.P.S.C.), which is comprised of approximately 67 nations. USPSA’s 16,000+ members and 350 affiliated clubs make it the largest and fastest growing Practical Shooting sport. About the Steel Challenge: The Steel Challenge will be held Thursday through Sunday, August 14-17 in Piru, CA. 4. That's just wrong.
  5. Talking about a new toy w/o posting pictures of new toy should result in a temporary ban.
  6. I'm not exactly thin and never will be, but losing weight over the past few months has helped me with my IWB carry.
  7. Save it until you see what you get for your birthday.
  8. I'm going to jump on this before Rabbi does. I have to unfortunately take issue with this notion because many different manufacturers produced 1911s during WWII and they weren't always "top quality" pieces. Who knows what sort of deal-making was involved then.
  9. I always carry. It doesn't matter what the weather is doing. I also always carry concealed. Again, regardless of weather. I might carry OWB if it's colder out and I am wearing a jacket or coat, though.
  10. Save it?
  11. I still think Thor or Odin would be great names for such a small dog.
  12. Julio Iglasias Taco Fernando Montebon... The Third.

    I'm a 1911 owner

b00b-E... NICE pistola! If you need to borrow my MTAC until yours arrives, let me know. I can't have a brother walking around without his gun for lack of a holster, nor can I have ya walking around carrying "Mexican Style" with the barrel pointed at your twig and berries.
  14. Yep. All are welcome.
  15. Shorter grip.
  16. Love your country, fear your government.
  17. I'm not pissed. I just don't like having someone accuse that I've got my head up my butt just because I don't agree with their theories. And so far you've accused several folks of that (more or less) when they voiced their counter opinion.
  18. I figured someone could use some spare mags. I couldn't believe how much idiocy killed the idea over on the 1911 forum. :-\ I'll give roadrider until this evening to reply back, then I guess we'll move on to the next person who could use them.
  19. As others here have said, you do not know me and do not know my state of preparedness. Furthermore, you really don't want to get into a contest with me of trying to make the other person look stupid. It wouldn't go well for you. Your posts so far come across as those of an extremist / alarmist who has a borderline obsession with any number of conspiracy theories that suggest the global economy is on the verge of collapse and that we're staring down the gullet of the End Of The World As We Know it. You further estrange your fellow forum members by continually accusing anyone who doesn't share your views as "not getting it" or having their heads in the sand / their asses / other places. Go you? I'm glad that wireless Internet has become so common-place. It will allow you to stay in touch with us from atop the watchtower while you angrily make mental preparation for our return to the Middle Ages.
  20. Rather than making personal accusations like this, maybe stop and consider that not everyone is going to have the same view of the state of affairs in this world as you do. Frankly it appears that you have some theories that are outside of the mainstream. While that doesn't mean they are necessarily wrong, it does mean that relating your opinions to 99% of the people here will be about as easy as trying to ice skate uphill.
  21. How would you like three free mags for them? I've got three unused, new, ChipMcCormick mags sitting here that need a good home. If you want them, shoot me your address in a Private Message. I tried to give these away over on a 1911 forum and the moderators over there were complete morons about the whole thing.
  22. Do you own an Officer's frame 1911? If so, please reply.
  23. It takes all kinds, right? At least it's ATF-NFA rules and not like... I dunno... goats or something.
  24. Because of the limitations you outlined, the first cartridge that came to mind for me was the .32 H&R Magnum. It's a more powerful version of the .32 Caliber that I usually would turn my nose up at, but it would be perfect for this. A good gun chambered in it might be the Taurus 731 Ultra Light. And here's an auction for one that I randomly pulled off of Gunbroker. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=87360619
  25. Haven't messed with it but will soon. Actually that info will be very helpful. I plan on doing the extractor and buffer tube soon and will work on it over the holidays.
