  1. I've never really considered my J-Frame to be anything more than a down and dirty, up close, personal defense weapon. It's not something I take to the range and shoot for recreational purposes very often. In fact, I only shoot it once every month or so just to keep the rust off. Statistically, you're not very likely to have to shoot a very far distance in most self defense situations. So "aiming" a J-Frame in those situations more or less means putting your shots anywhere into a man sized target at 5-7 yds.
  2. I thought we were denying access to Mustang owners...
  3. It's fun to mess with them and just smile. Edit... dammit, I need to reply quicker. I see Mars beat me to the punch by like... an hour.
  4. Agreed. I used to detest revolvers until I saw how perfectly a J-frame fits in my front pants pocket with a DeSantis Nemesis holster. This is the ultimate carry option for someone who wants to travel light but still wants some firepower.
  5. Glad to see another lawyer among us. We have a few, I'm told.
  6. Agreed. I used to worry then got over it. If someone notices my gun and gets bent out of shape, that's their problem - not mine.
  7. Awesome pocket pistol. I have one myself. Love it.
  8. I may end up building a left-hand AR platform rifle of some sort... but that's really it. One of the primary motivators for selling my current AR is the fact that I really really really need a left-hand variant.
  9. It's possible that our PTR records didn't get updated properly, which would cause this problem. I'm going to have to look into it.
  10. Hmmm... the 9th is actually very bad for us. I was hoping for the 15th. We may still stop by the restaurant to say hello or something. Just depends on what time we get done with our other appointments that morning.
  11. Hello and welcome. It's always nice to see families that shoot together! (It's good to have backup)
  12. It may be related to our network changes. If it is... I'm not sure how quickly I can resolve it. We had similar problems for work that took me the past four days to fix and this will be pretty low priority for me right now. I'll do some investigating.
  13. J-Frame in my pants pocket at church.
  14. Um... is your interpretation of that a bit legalistic? Transporting vs. carrying?
  15. Really?
  16. I'm in the "I sometimes forget to take it off" crowd but that more often than not means my J-Frame in the pocket rather than a 1911 strapped to my side. The bigger hardware almost always gets removed and placed on a dresser, in the night stand or in the vault. Like Mars, when we're at home we are never too far from one.
  17. I believe you can count us in as definite attendees. Party of two.
  18. Well I have a few free moments this morning and something noteworthy to report... As most of my middle TN friends here on TGO know, last year I had the "unfortunate" experience of separating from and divorcing my now ex wife. Congratulations, not condolences, are in order. It just wasn't a workable situation and was one of those things that I now look back upon as a necessary mistake that brought me to where I actually needed to be. Since then, I've had the tremendous fortune to meet someone who has become my best friend and whom I've fallen in love with and will be marrying soon. She and I finally got a chance to go shooting together this past weekend, so that's why I'm posting this and why that lead-in was necessary. Sandy's known about my firearms affliction since day one. The friends that introduced us told her that I had a carry permit and that I carry religiously; a fact that was actually comforting to her because of a situation with her own ex-spouse. It made her feel a little more secure. One of the things that we decided early on was that we needed to go shooting together, but if you've noticed my absence from TGO over the past few months then you understand what I mean when I say that my schedule has been B-U-S-Y. We just hadn't had time to go shooting despite the fact that we've had several offers to join others, etc. Sandy had shot a handgun once before. Probably a Glock, but she couldn't remember specifically which model or caliber. None the less, after a good introduction to the safety and mechanics of handgun operation, we went to the range this past Saturday night and she got a chance to aquaint herself with a few of my... er, our handguns. In sequence, she fired: Springfield XD 9mm Tactical 5-inch Wilson Combat Professional 1911 .45ACP Heckler & Koch P2000 .40SW SA/DA She had no problems handling any of them and did great with each of them. The only thing she disliked about the Wilson is the G10 micarta grips and the way they bit into her hands. Some shooting gloves would probably help her a bit there. Her favorite of the bunch -- Marswolf will love this -- was the HK P2000. She really liked the longer length of pull on it's trigger. She had no problems with the .40SW recoil but I may have to invest in a 9mm P2000 or even P2000SK for her as time passes as she did prefer the snap of the 9mm over the pop of the .40SW. I am thrilled to report that her shots were all center-of-mass and would have easily gotten her a 100% scoring on the Tennessee HCP shooting test. In fact, many of her groupings at 7yds were sub 2" MOA. Not bad at all for a first time out with these particular handguns and only her second time out shooting period. And the best part? She wants to go back as often as we can and wants to get her HCP.
  19. If it's any day but the 22nd... we might be able to make it.
  20. Thanks should be directed to Eddie (MolonlabeTN) for this as he's been quite busy adding and rearranging since graciously accepting my request for assistance. He's doing a great job and forums like the new NFA forum are proof of it.
  21. Mozambique Drill. Shooting them in the pelvic girdle is another great way to drop them but I'm not sold on the idea that it impacts the central nervous system instantaneously enough to immediately halt the threat.
  22. Truth be told, I like them. My G23 was a good gun and never gave me any problems. I never could get into the whole "religious" side of owning a Glock just as I can't get into the same with 1911 ownership, H&K ownership, etc. Guns are tools. If you have an intimate love affair with your particular brand or style of firearm, you need to get out of the house a little more often.
  23. I kept saving myself for you... but you move too slowly.
