Which to go with?

Just for the record... The M&P 9mm Pro and 9mm "L" are both coming out soon. Both have a 5-inch barrel and the Pro adds a high visibility fiber optic front sight. If the XD 9mm Tactical appeals to you for the longer barrel but you prefer the adjustable grip size of the M&P, you'll soon be able to have it both ways. My "gamer" gun is an XD 9mm Tactical but I'll very likely step over to the 5-inch M&P as soon as it is available.
2. Pain is relative to the person experiencing it. I thought having mine done was pretty painless. I've been hurt a lot worse and for much longer periods of time, so the sensation of being tattooed barely registered as an annoyance. I too was told that once you got your first, you'd go back for more. I kicked around that idea for a while but decided to just let it go. I have scratched the itch, so to speak, and really don't think I'll get another at this point. One is enough for me.
3. Brian Enos [link] says it really doesn't matter so long as you can manipulate the trigger without affecting the point of impact. I've come to believe he's right.
4. We were sitting in a waiting room yesterday and I pointed out a 100 year old woman (well maybe not that old) who had a butterfly tattoo at the base of her neck. It was the least attractive tattoo that I have ever seen. In fact, I am pretty sure I threw up a little when I saw it but that probably has to do with the huge spare tire that the old woman was carting around too. And the crew cut. To be honest, there are indeed times that I re-think how smart it was for me to have gotten mine on my left upper arm. Thankfully it is hidden 99% of the time and my wife actually thinks it's cool. That said, I'm really glad she doesn't have any. This post was not a paid endorsement.
5. Just keep it nice and moisturized with Curel (fragrance free) or whatever other topical lotion they told you to use for the next few weeks. That will help cut down on the itching too.
6. Joe you might want to PM Hornet Handler here and ask him about the guy who did his work at Emperor Tattoo in Nashville. The color and shading on it was amazing.
7. Nice ink! They seem to have done a very good job with the shading.
8. I could see myself letting the HK P2000 .40SW go for something like this.
9. You know that I liked my P220 Carry SAO. You also know that I traded it off. Why? Too bulky given that there are plenty of other options for a reliable .45ACP in packages slightly smaller and more concealable. I carried the P220 Carry SAO once and that was for 9+ hours in a VM2 holster. It was nowhere near as comfortable to carry as my HK P2000 or my 1911. What about the HK 45C? Or the forthcoming M&P 45c? Those two really float my boat lately.
10. Speaking to the issue of a "carry" organization catering to Tennessee... if that benefits the cause in a way different than what TGO does, I am all for it. TGO was never intended to be or become a political lobbying organization. Rather the desire was for it to be a grassroots mechanism for informing, educating and motivating the masses in respect to the issues that affect us all as sportsmen and firearms enthusiasts. If we can motivate someone to partner with an organization like the TFA, NRA, GOA, and work through them to become politically affective, then we've done a good thing. That said, I really don't see us (TGO) evolving into an official, active, lobbying force and honestly hope that we don't. That brings with it baggage that we presently don't carry, and the lack of which makes us much more "nimble" and proactive. *shrug*
11. There IS a lot more to this story. The bottom line is that Voldemort basically asked for all of this to happen to him by ignoring the old adage that discretion is the better part of valor. http://www.tennesspeed.net/forums/showthread.php?t=44483 All you want to know is there.
12. Comcast filters our emails heavily. I recommend GMail.
13. Eddie, you might want to edit your first post in the thread to reflect the details. For the ADD challenged like me.
14. Cool. As it stands, I think we'll be there.
15. That's much better to hear. I could tell you where all of the dead spots in my yard and home were when I had Cingular a few years ago.
16. I've had mine for about 6 months now and wear it daily, both with and without a holster. It looks like a quality casual leather belt and has held up very well. I'm probably going to order another in black soon.
17. Regarding Motorola battery life... my experience with the Q has been quite the opposite of what others have said here. I can get several days worth of "stand by" time out of a full charge and really only have to top it off at night if I've been especially busy with the phone during the day. Batteries for the Q are relatively cheap on eBay so I wouldn't let that be much of a concern. For that matter, batteries for almost any of the PDAs listed are cheap on eBay. I understand that AT&T's network coverage has improved a bit over the past few years but there was a time when you couldn't have paid me to use the Cingular GSM network. It wasn't a matter of where you had dead zones... it was a matter of where you could find signal. Verizon doesn't have the flashiest phones, but they do have the best network coverage in my opinion.
18. If you want a traditional leather belt that will hold your firearm up, invest in a sturdy purpose-built belt. www.thebeltman.net is my personal pick.
19. The most important questions that you need to ask yourself about this decision are: 1. Which is more important to you: Phone capabilities or PDA capabilities? Many of the PDA devices lack sorely in the phone department. Some suffer from horrible reception. Others have really bad speakers in the earpiece. Yet others are clumsy for dialing numbers not in your contacts list. If the device must function first and foremost as a usable phone and second as a PDA, that will narrow your scope a lot. 2. Do you want a Windows, Palm or Blackberry operating system? This may seem like a "Duh" question but it is very important. Almost equally as important as whether it is more important to have a good phone than to have a good PDA. At my company, we have standardized on Windows PDAs because of the tight integration with our Microsoft Exchange e-mail servers. If that isn't a consideration for you, then I would give a closer look at the Palm OS devices like the Treos. Blackberries are great PDAs and have decent phone capabilities, but they shine the most when they are integrated with a corporate e-mail system through a Blackberry Enterprise Server installation. Otherwise you have to run a desktop redirector application that passes your email through to your PDA over the air. My personal carry is a Motorola Q. It uses the Windows Mobile OS and is a great phone and a passable PDA. I've been pleased with it so far.
20. That's me... and I appreciate the comments about looking young. I don't get that sort of comment much anymore. Actually my brother in law is about 6'4" tall and I stand about 5'9" ... so he sort of towers over me at almost exactly half my age.
21. Welcome! Enjoy your visits with us.
22. Welcome. The avatar made me smile... nice throwback to the 80's pulp TV.
23. I will run it by her to be sure... but my wife and I may be able to make this.
24. I'm starting to consider Duracoat for an upcoming handgun build for my wife. She'd really like something with a pink slide so this seems like the only way to go about it. Unless one of you is aware of another finish that can be had in feminine colors like pink.
25. I thought about you while we were shooting. Once again it was a spur of the moment decision to go. I think we may have to schedule a get together sometime soon so that a few of us can go down there and punch holes in paper.
