BOTTOM LINE UP FRONT (BLUF) This evening I have upgraded our forum software to the new 4.5 track from Invision Power. This is a pretty significant upgrade behind the scenes, but most everything that you have come to be familiar with on TGO should be essentially the same with some minor improvements here and there. HOW TO FIX COMMON PROBLEMS Whenever we do a software upgrade, most problems experienced by the members can be solved by clearing out your web browser cache. This forces your browser to download all new copies of all of the various bits and pieces of our forum. To see how to do that, visit this link: https://www.pcmag.com/how-to/how-to-clear-your-cache-on-any-browser WHAT IF THAT DOESN'T WORK? If clearing your cache doesn't work, please use this thread to report the problems you are having. If it is something I can fix, I will gladly look into it.

Legality of SBR for concealed carry
TGO David replied to F4iGuy599's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
I love NFA threads. They always ultimately illustrate how ridiculous NFA laws are. Get used to that. If Biden wins, he and AlQaeda Harris have already made it clear they plan to shove a lot of modern rifles into classification as NFA items. -
Great deal on a 1,000 lumen Streamlight flashlight.
TGO David replied to TGO David's topic in General Chat
The good news is that this light IS the one that takes either two CR123s or the 18650 battery, and the 18650s are cheap to buy. At this price, I'd definitely still pick one up. Streamlight 88065 Pro Tac HL-X 1,000 Lumen Professional Tactical Flashlight with High/Low/Strobe "Dual Fuel" use 2x CR123A or 1 x rechargeable Li-ion Batteries and Holster -

Well, dangit. I didn't pay close enough attention to it. :( -
### Note: Amazon Prime Day 2020 is over now. Regular prices are back in effect. ### Yeah I know, everyone is peppering each other with things they've spotted Amazon during Prime Day. This is a seriously a great deal on a great flashlight, at 26% off normal price though. This is the 1,000 lumen Streamlight Pro-Tac HL-X that uses CR123 batteries. I have three of the damned things in the 18650 battery version now: Bedside, truck, and one for EDC. I originally bought one for carry when I am on safety team duty at church and liked the brightness and throw so much that I bought two more. Fair disclosure, the link sends TGO a small "finders fee" if you buy, but Amazon pays that - not you. https://amzn.to/2H0jZyb

Best RMR for Glock/Handgun?
TGO David replied to GlockSpock's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
For those interested in the technical aspects of red dot sights, check out this podcast featuring Luis Chirino of Holosn. Boon Benton (13 Hours, Benghazi) and Bill Orndorf host this show. They were both on Shooters Nation with me last year and are obviously good dudes. https://www.buzzsprout.com/888202/5577697-episode-20 -
I’ve got another M2.0 with the flat faced forward set trigger/sear kit. I’ve tried virtually all combinations of springs. It’s ok but doesn’t excite me.

Best RMR for Glock/Handgun?
TGO David replied to GlockSpock's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I have five of the Type 2 RM07 6.5MOA dot. All of them are the adjustable variety. It works great and I like being able to turn them completely off if they are going to be in my safe for a while. Love them. I also have a Gen1 Holosun HE508T red dot. It's a great dot. No problems with it and I know from watching Aaron Cowan beat the hell out of them that it's as rugged as an RMR. I do wish that the dot were a 2MOA or 3MOA instead of the tiny little 1MOA that it has, but I suppose that is why you're supposed to turn on the "ring" reticle and not just run the dot-only reticle. I see myself picking up HE508T-X2 green dot as soon as they are available. I want to see for myself if green is as great as @Links2k says it is. Just kidding. LOTS of people say it is. I do want to try it out for myself. -
Approximately 7 weeks ago I sent the slide from my 4.25" duty-size M&P M2.0 9mm to Doug Presson at DP Custom Works to have their GAB 4.0 package and a fresh jet-black nitride finish applied to it. Today, it came back and I quickly reassembled it with a Trijicon RM07 red dot, 10-8 Performance sights (M&P front, Glock rear) and an Apex Tactical Specialties striker safety plunger. I am ambivalent about the Apex trigger on the M2.0 series so I have skipped that for now. They look good for social media but I built this to be a fighting gun. Some time ago I smoothed out the area beneath the trigger guard for my middle finger to stop giving myself callouses from how tightly I grip the gun, and I added some very simple, functional "indexing points" on for my support hand thumb. I wasn't trying to win any beauty pageants with that stuff, so if you think it looks like crap... good. I expect this cheap ole M&P to perform just as well as any of the guns that I have that were 3x as expensive as it. Talk about making a guy question his purchasing decisions.

The Official Range Photo Thread (Prove That You Shoot)
TGO David replied to TGO David's topic in Training Discussions
YES! Dry Fire is life, even when ammo is plentiful. -
You know... unless you have firsthand knowledge of what RR is paying for their ammo, any claim that they are gouging rather than passing along their own increases is completely an opinion. I warned previously that the cost of ammo to suppliers was going to be increasing as what remained from previous years production dried up.

This case is worth watching as it hits on some things that not many involved in firearms social media are likely to be innocent of themselves. Jake Gardner, a white bar owner in Nebraska, has been indicted by an Omaha, NE grand jury for killing James Scurlock, a young black man during a BLM protest in June of 2020. The grand jury determined on Tuesday that Jake Gardner, 38, will face four charges including manslaughter, attempted first-degree assault, use of a firearm, and terror threats. Part of the justification from the grand jury came from things that Gardner had posted on his own Facebook wall prior to ever coming into contact with the victim. "There was evidence that was gathered and presented to the grand jury about activity that Jake Gardner was engaged in prior to even coming in contact with James Scurlock," said Special Prosecutor Frederick Franklin. "Evidence to reasonably be construed as an intent to use a firearm for purposes of killing someone," he continued. "You will want to know what it is, and I can't tell you about it. But what I can tell you is that that evidence comes primarily from Jake Gardner himself." Reportedly Gardner had shared on social media FBI statistics and a screenshot of the President saying “When the looting starts, the shooting starts”. Again, this before he ever encountered Scurlock. As we often remind people here on TGO, the Internet has a very long and indelible memory. We advise that you not say anything here that you wouldn't want read back to you in court. We're everywhere, man! -
It sounds like he shot a truck driver in the face. I haven't seen more detail on that, but I suspect he wasn't able to get in that truck and shot the guy for it. The other folks that he hurt and the one he ended up killing were all stuck in a traffic jam that he caused by killing someone he was riding with in another car. You're not simply driving away from anything in a traffic jam. Agreed. As the late Dr. William Aprill once told me, you need to know where the line is that you won't allow to be crossed. He told me that his line was being forced into a vehicle with someone against his will, because the place they are taking you to is most likely the scene of your murder.

I'm not sure if Quavodus' name is David and you knew that somehow, but I do want to point out that you quoted something he said. Not anything I said. -
Sad sign of the times, isn't it?
