These two (TGO and Tennesspeed) are the only two that I still operate. There are a few others that I started or help start that eventually were handed off to others to continue. TGO has far surpassed the growth potential of Tennesspeed. It also probably helps TGO that I am and always will be an ardent supporter of 2A Rights, whereas my interest in hot-rod cars has diminished a bit over the past few years.

If you visit those forums now, you should see a notice posted at the top of the page talking about legal issues and also mentioning the restriction on New Members.

Tennesspeed is a forum that I started back in 2002 for performance automotive enthusiasts. It's sort of evolved beyond that over the years, but the central focus is still cars, trucks, bikes, etc.

Considering new carry pistol: discussion of a difficult choice...

Supposedly my brother is working on getting one of them to replace his Wilson Combat 1911. I'm going to have to shoot his a few times once he does. -

That's odd... Joe's told me that you are naked in most of the dreams he has of selling you new handguns. -
Update... I have added a forum Notice that is shown to New Members at the top of every page that explains to them the 14 Day / 10 Posts probationary period and why it exists. Hopefully this will cut down on the confusion. After a new member makes 10 posts and has been with us for 14 days, the forum software automatically upgrades them to Registered Member status and lifts the forum restrictions.

Did you hear a voice from a burning bush at any time during this dream? It's clearly a John Moses Browning sort of thing happening here if you did. -
The Glock 19 has been and continues to be on my radar as a possible addition to the collection at some point. I have owned a 27 and a 23 and preferred the slightly larger size of the 23. Far more enjoyable to shoot and just as concealable. The 19 is the same size as the 23, of course, but chambered in 9mm.

Here's some info on the new M&P 5-inch guns... M&P 9L M&P 9 Pro
-
Yeah but if you're in a nursing home checking out the old naked people, you have deeper issues to contend with.
-
Just for the record... The M&P 9mm Pro and 9mm "L" are both coming out soon. Both have a 5-inch barrel and the Pro adds a high visibility fiber optic front sight. If the XD 9mm Tactical appeals to you for the longer barrel but you prefer the adjustable grip size of the M&P, you'll soon be able to have it both ways. My "gamer" gun is an XD 9mm Tactical but I'll very likely step over to the 5-inch M&P as soon as it is available.

Pain is relative to the person experiencing it. I thought having mine done was pretty painless. I've been hurt a lot worse and for much longer periods of time, so the sensation of being tattooed barely registered as an annoyance. I too was told that once you got your first, you'd go back for more. I kicked around that idea for a while but decided to just let it go. I have scratched the itch, so to speak, and really don't think I'll get another at this point. One is enough for me.

Brian Enos [link] says it really doesn't matter so long as you can manipulate the trigger without affecting the point of impact. I've come to believe he's right.

We were sitting in a waiting room yesterday and I pointed out a 100 year old woman (well maybe not that old) who had a butterfly tattoo at the base of her neck. It was the least attractive tattoo that I have ever seen. In fact, I am pretty sure I threw up a little when I saw it but that probably has to do with the huge spare tire that the old woman was carting around too. And the crew cut. To be honest, there are indeed times that I re-think how smart it was for me to have gotten mine on my left upper arm. Thankfully it is hidden 99% of the time and my wife actually thinks it's cool. That said, I'm really glad she doesn't have any. This post was not a paid endorsement.

Just keep it nice and moisturized with Curel (fragrance free) or whatever other topical lotion they told you to use for the next few weeks. That will help cut down on the itching too.

Joe you might want to PM Hornet Handler here and ask him about the guy who did his work at Emperor Tattoo in Nashville. The color and shading on it was amazing.
-
Nice ink! They seem to have done a very good job with the shading.

I could see myself letting the HK P2000 .40SW go for something like this. -

You know that I liked my P220 Carry SAO. You also know that I traded it off. Why? Too bulky given that there are plenty of other options for a reliable .45ACP in packages slightly smaller and more concealable. I carried the P220 Carry SAO once and that was for 9+ hours in a VM2 holster. It was nowhere near as comfortable to carry as my HK P2000 or my 1911. What about the HK 45C? Or the forthcoming M&P 45c? Those two really float my boat lately. -
Speaking to the issue of a "carry" organization catering to Tennessee... if that benefits the cause in a way different than what TGO does, I am all for it. TGO was never intended to be or become a political lobbying organization. Rather the desire was for it to be a grassroots mechanism for informing, educating and motivating the masses in respect to the issues that affect us all as sportsmen and firearms enthusiasts. If we can motivate someone to partner with an organization like the TFA, NRA, GOA, and work through them to become politically affective, then we've done a good thing. That said, I really don't see us (TGO) evolving into an official, active, lobbying force and honestly hope that we don't. That brings with it baggage that we presently don't carry, and the lack of which makes us much more "nimble" and proactive. *shrug*
