  1. We also saw this at the last Smyrna (RK) gun show and thought it might be something that she would stand a chance of being able to carry concealed without too much trouble. She's tall and thin so just about any automatic will stick off of her hip like a giant neon "Look at me, I'm carrying a GUN!!!" sign regardless of what holster she uses. A small revolver like that should tuck in a lot closer. The pink M&P 9mm would more or less be her toy for the range.
  2. She's new to the forum and fairly new to shooting. We've been shooting together about five times now. She's gotten pretty good at it though.
  3. I actually think the XD Tactical is the best looking of the current XD line.
  4. VERY nice. Where did you see that, Joe?
  5. Leopard (OS X 10.5.2) is *NIX under the hood. http://www.apple.com/macosx/technology/unix.html That's the biggest reason I took the plunge and went with the Mac Book. Sure, I could have tried to run Ubuntu or some other Linux on my Thinkpad but there's no telling what challenges that would have involved. I deal with enough challenges in our infrastructure at work. For home or on the road, I just wanted a laptop I didn't have to screw with. I wanted one that just works. I think I've found it.
  6. I never said there was no use for having your MCDBA. I just said I haven't used it in several years. The few small SQL databases we have at my current employer (<50 employees) really aren't worth mentioning. I could just as easily host them on a MySQL box and no one would ever know the difference; except one of them is for our MS-branded accounting system and that might cause problems. Oracle is definitely worth learning. I know several people who have made careers doing nothing but Oracle. Oracle DBA, Oracle Forms Admin, Oracle development... you name it. Each one a completely viable career path in and of itself.
  7. I'm the Infidel your mom warned you about. Durka durka, jihad Muhammed!!! (I think that means "All your goats are belong to us.") Dick!
  8. I haven't done anything with my DBA certification since 1999. I manage two MS SQL servers here at my company but they are small potatoes to what I had to do when I worked for First American. Oracle on RHE is supposed to be the bomb. I may have to try it out sometime.
  9. I'm voting for Obama too. And wearing Birkenstocks. Just kidding. Eddie, you being a Ubutnu user would appreciate the Unix underpinnings in OS-X. That was the big factor that made me switch. Intel platform running a Unix derivative with a quality GUI and a big name vendor backing it all up? Winnar! I'm slowly moving more of our servers at work to RedHat Enterprise Linux and off of Windows. I doubt Server 2008 will ever see the light of day here.
  10. Just doing my part.
  11. Today I did two things that would shock most people who know me. #1 -- I unpacked and set up my new Apple MacBook Pro laptop. As someone who has made their living with the initials MCSE, MCDBA and MCSP behind his name for the past ten years or so this is actually a pretty big deal. Microsoft has been good to me and has paid for a lot of things, but I've had it with the direction they are taking with their desktop OS. My new personal computer is a Mac. Eat that, Ballmer!!! #2 -- I ordered a new kydex body from Comp-Tac for the spare MTAC holster that I had laying around. My HK P2000 will keep it's MTAC, but the 1911 is now carried in a Milt Sparks VM2. So the new kydex body? It fits a Glock. I figure sooner or later I'm going to end up with a Glock 19. Might as well have something to carry it in.

    Sig P250

My wife and I had the chance to hold one of the P250s a few weeks ago. It wasn't for either of us but I'm glad to hear that your wife found something she will like carrying. Not to steer us completely off topic, but what method has she found that she prefers carrying the firearm? Outside the waistband? Inside? Purse? Thanks.
  13. That's the first idea that came to my mind.
  14. Found more photos...
  15. Whatever the case, I wonder if the guy who took those pictures is now looking for a new job.
  16. The grip looks awfully Walther P99-ish.
  17. Someone over on Glocktalk leaked photos of the new XD-M handguns yesterday but apparently Springfield shut them down post-haste. The photos have since been removed, but there is now a link on Springfield's website that invites you to sign up for daily email announcements about the new (M) factor. I'm still searching for photos. Apparently it's a new version of the XD that lowers the bore axis (about damn time) and improves the grip by making it fill the hand a little better. *** EDIT ... Photos Located ***
  18. In order for it to be well worn, it has to have wear. So... this gun sucks?
  19. The old Trader Feedback system had a gaping security hole that if exploited would let you really mess with someone's feedback rating. I pulled the software as a result. Let me see what I can come up with.
  20. That's a good looking firearm!
  21. Those are pretty much my thoughts too. Glock 19. Plinking? Check. Good enough to carry later? Check.

    Snake!!!!

Hopefully those marks on the fence are from buckshot.
  23. That's a well worn pistola.
