  1. Hey! I fondled that gun today!
  2. Wrong Yancy. That'd be my brother... but I have a picture of his Wilson and a special message from Joe @ Hero Gear from today.
  3. Thanks guys. Even you, Urse. When I rented a Glock 19 at the local indoor range a week ago, it was like slipping on a comfortable pair of old shoes. I remembered why I liked my G23 so much. It may not be the best gun in my collection and it's definitely not the best gun ever made, but I shoot them really good so that's all that matters to me.
  4. You guys are douchebags! I already had a 442.
  5. Just ordered the kydex body for one of my existing MTAC holsters. I was planning ahead. Also had some Ameriglo "Operator" night sights ready for it. I'm sneaky like that. I've already used up my "your mom" joke for the day. Can I get back to you tomorrow? <bookmarked for tomorrow> I made it RAIN in Hero Gear today. Pac-Man style.
  6. Comp-Tac sends free Smarties with every purchase. Or maybe you get a free holster with the $60 Smarties. I dunno. They came with the kydex body for my MTAC so that I could swap out the HK kydex for the Glock kydex. It's bad juju to mix Glock and HK kydex you know. WRONG! Your mom was in that picture too, she was just off the screen. I think Rabbi and Jesus were in the same fraternity. Did keg-stands together. True story: Joe gave me 15% off of "ass" according to the invoice. But then he made Rod consummate the sale. Frankly I was a bit let down. Rod is hot and all, but he's not a "high speed operator" like Joe. Really, what's a guy got to do?
  7. I told her you found the pink grips. She's ready for you to have them shipped to us. Need the address?
  8. My transformation is now complete. Visited Hero Gear this morning and traded the HK P2000 off and picked up a J-Frame for my wife and also a GLOCK 19 for me. I can pretty much assure you that this is a sign of the apocalypse and that you should consider getting right with Jesus before you finish reading this post. Obligatory gun porn: Glock 19. Compact 9mm. Combat Tupperware. Shoots through schools. Invisible to airport X-Ray. Made entirely of porcelain and baby seal skins. Costs more than you make in a month, PAL. (periscope for safely viewing from bottom of ditches, not included)
  9. Loot: 1 - Glock 19 1 - Smith & Wesson 642 J-Frame 2 - Glock 19 spare mags 1 - Glock butt plug 1 - TGO logo 5.11 polo shirt 2 - Boxes of Hornady TAP 9mm 147gr ammo I'd say we made out pretty good. The J-frame is my wife's and her first gun purchase ever. The rest of the stuff is mine, all mine. Except the butt plug. I bought that for Rabbi since he officially "likes it up the butt" according to his recent thread. It's Kosher, too. We also enjoyed beer basted brats hot off the grill courtesy of the Hero Gear crew. And as always it was a pleasure hanging out with everyone there and meeting lots of folks from TGO. Wish we could have stayed longer but the wallet was smoking by the time we left and we have a list of things to do around the house this weekend.
  10. Dan @ Hero Gear posted in their 5.11 Sale thread that he might have some within the next week and it will only be the .40SW version.
  11. I'm not anticipating carrying one anytime soon. Gaming is a little different. The paper targets can't shoot you first if your gun jams or a mag drops at a USPSA match.
  12. The 45c is on my short list of handguns to look at in the near future, but ahead of it is the 9-Pro for "gaming" purposes.
  13. Yeah, I kind of figured it was a joke also. But here's a bad scenerio: A woman is assaulted and decides to find a handgun to protect herself in the future. She comes here either before or after buying a handgun, looking for good information and a place where she can learn more about her right to self defense. Upon visiting, she finds a few threads that she likes but more importantly she notices that there are posts from men in the Ladies forum where it appears like they are hitting on them. This woman becomes disgusted and leaves, never seeing that it was all a joke or just a random incident of a guy being a typical guy and "thinking with the wrong head". It hits too close to home for her either way and she leaves before the other members of TGO can be of assistance to her. I'd rather we avoid that sort of thing in the Ladies forum. Cutting up between guys and gals is OK elsewhere but this one particular forum is one where it should be off limits. Or at least that's my theory.
  14. You know... I can't help but wonder if a woman carrying a firearm openly on her hip would be given the same scrutiny by the unwashed masses that a male carrying openly sometimes receives. Color me sexist, but I think that people by and large tend to not perceive women as being "threatening" in appearance the way that they do men. Especially if the men are carrying a gun. Might be a good social experiment.
  15. Comp-Tac MTAC holster for inside the waistband. Milt Sparks VersaMax 2 (aka the VM2) for inside the waistband.

  17. Bronker, you're a lucky guy. I tell myself that every morning when I look in the mirror.
  18. Guys... My wife was reading over my shoulder last night and commented that the comments about single ladies are cute and all, but that TGO doesn't strike her as being the place for looking for a date online and that these comments will invariably ruin the appeal of having a Ladies' forum here. I think she's right. Let's keep the "Any single women here?" type comments out of the loop. There is always Match.com for that sort of thing. TGO is for talking about issues relevant to firearms ownership. Thanks.
  19. Expensive lessons are often the best learned. I saw a quote on another gun forum once to the effect of making a choice each morning: "Ego or Firearm. Pick one to carry. Leave the other at home."
  20. The only fault I find with Mack on Future Weapons is the fact that he tends to sensationalize some of the hardware he gets to play with. But he's a television personality now and those people are paid to hype whatever they're dealing with at the moment. It makes for more interesting TV.
  21. I bought one on a credit card once that offered travel miles. Back when I had to travel. It wasn't a bad idea at the time because I had surplus income and was able to pay it off almost immediately. But buying any sort of "impulse item" on credit is a slippery slope. My rule of thumb always has been that if you don't have the cash to pay it off immediately, then don't buy it on credit. Obviously this excludes buying a house or a car as most of us don't have $200,000 in savings just sitting around waiting for such a thing.
  22. My wife is more than willing to carry once she has her HCP. She's just facing the same predicament a lot of women do; how to conceal it. We're looking at buying her a S&W 442 this weekend, then spiffing it up a little for her. The best thing we can come up with so far is to carry in an OWB holster that rides very high on the belt and would allow it to disappear under an overshirt or loose t-shirt. Her particular "problem" (if you can call it that) is that she is about 6' tall, very slender and likes to wear fitted clothes. Those factors combine to make her really damn hot to me, but also really hard for her to carry a concealed firearm. The kicker? When I mentioned carrying in her purse she immediately replied "That's the stupidest idea. My purse is the first thing someone would try to grab." All that and brains too.

    G19 vs Sig P226

If the SIG fits your hand better than the Glock, that is a positive mark in the SIG's favor. The question is: How well do you shoot the SIG? If you have never shot one before, you should rent or borrow one and find out before you commit to this. I've always liked the P226 but find them to be on the heavy side. Not something I'd ever want to carry concealed, but since you say this would be a range toy and HD weapon, that statement is moot.
  24. I also added a modification that puts a smilie "pop up" button in the quick reply. That should do the trick for those of you who were wanting something like that added. It's a little cleaner than just having the smilies all listed there.
