The 45c is on my short list of handguns to look at in the near future, but ahead of it is the 9-Pro for "gaming" purposes.

Yeah, I kind of figured it was a joke also. But here's a bad scenerio: A woman is assaulted and decides to find a handgun to protect herself in the future. She comes here either before or after buying a handgun, looking for good information and a place where she can learn more about her right to self defense. Upon visiting, she finds a few threads that she likes but more importantly she notices that there are posts from men in the Ladies forum where it appears like they are hitting on them. This woman becomes disgusted and leaves, never seeing that it was all a joke or just a random incident of a guy being a typical guy and "thinking with the wrong head". It hits too close to home for her either way and she leaves before the other members of TGO can be of assistance to her. I'd rather we avoid that sort of thing in the Ladies forum. Cutting up between guys and gals is OK elsewhere but this one particular forum is one where it should be off limits. Or at least that's my theory.

You know... I can't help but wonder if a woman carrying a firearm openly on her hip would be given the same scrutiny by the unwashed masses that a male carrying openly sometimes receives. Color me sexist, but I think that people by and large tend to not perceive women as being "threatening" in appearance the way that they do men. Especially if the men are carrying a gun. Might be a good social experiment.

Comp-Tac MTAC holster for inside the waistband. Milt Sparks VersaMax 2 (aka the VM2) for inside the waistband.

Bronker, you're a lucky guy. I tell myself that every morning when I look in the mirror.

Guys... My wife was reading over my shoulder last night and commented that the comments about single ladies are cute and all, but that TGO doesn't strike her as being the place for looking for a date online and that these comments will invariably ruin the appeal of having a Ladies' forum here. I think she's right. Let's keep the "Any single women here?" type comments out of the loop. There is always Match.com for that sort of thing. TGO is for talking about issues relevant to firearms ownership. Thanks.

Expensive lessons are often the best learned. I saw a quote on another gun forum once to the effect of making a choice each morning: "Ego or Firearm. Pick one to carry. Leave the other at home."

The only fault I find with Mack on Future Weapons is the fact that he tends to sensationalize some of the hardware he gets to play with. But he's a television personality now and those people are paid to hype whatever they're dealing with at the moment. It makes for more interesting TV.

I bought one on a credit card once that offered travel miles. Back when I had to travel. It wasn't a bad idea at the time because I had surplus income and was able to pay it off almost immediately. But buying any sort of "impulse item" on credit is a slippery slope. My rule of thumb always has been that if you don't have the cash to pay it off immediately, then don't buy it on credit. Obviously this excludes buying a house or a car as most of us don't have $200,000 in savings just sitting around waiting for such a thing.

My wife is more than willing to carry once she has her HCP. She's just facing the same predicament a lot of women do; how to conceal it. We're looking at buying her a S&W 442 this weekend, then spiffing it up a little for her. The best thing we can come up with so far is to carry in an OWB holster that rides very high on the belt and would allow it to disappear under an overshirt or loose t-shirt. Her particular "problem" (if you can call it that) is that she is about 6' tall, very slender and likes to wear fitted clothes. Those factors combine to make her really damn hot to me, but also really hard for her to carry a concealed firearm. The kicker? When I mentioned carrying in her purse she immediately replied "That's the stupidest idea. My purse is the first thing someone would try to grab." All that and brains too.

If the SIG fits your hand better than the Glock, that is a positive mark in the SIG's favor. The question is: How well do you shoot the SIG? If you have never shot one before, you should rent or borrow one and find out before you commit to this. I've always liked the P226 but find them to be on the heavy side. Not something I'd ever want to carry concealed, but since you say this would be a range toy and HD weapon, that statement is moot.

I also added a modification that puts a smilie "pop up" button in the quick reply. That should do the trick for those of you who were wanting something like that added. It's a little cleaner than just having the smilies all listed there.
-
I fixed it so that the smilie box is wider by default. Keeps you from having to resize the window initially if you don't want to.

Guess what gun I'm carrying today? a. HK P2000 b. Wilson Combat 1911 c. Glock 19 d. None of the above Answer: (D) None of the above. I'm carrying my J-frame #442. Rabbi and I agreed that we'd switch places and I'd carry a wheel gun today since he's carrying his new butt-toy.

It's going to be OK.

Yeah, well... you're ugly and your mom dresses you funny. Seriously, what was this thread about again and why is there an incessant need to discuss the collectible value of the Glock versus any other firearm? I don't buy guns to collect them, while the case may be made that I do have the start of a small collection. I buy guns to shoot them. I buy guns to carry them; the one of which I may be carrying now depends on the circumstances and attire. I buy guns because I enjoy them, not because I'm looking to provide an heirloom to my grandkids. If I wanted to provide an heirloom to them, I'd buy a tract of land somewhere and tell them "Here's something that will likely never depreciate." This thread has become absurd. Can we just argue Fords vs. Chevys instead? That might be more entertaining and less divisive.

Maybe on another forum. I've never liked that particular modification so I never implemented it here. We've got too many smilies for it to look right under the Quick Reply box.
-
For what it's worth, my old 9c went back to the factory twice. Once for the mag-drop issue, the second time for the premature lock-back issue. The gun went away with my ex-wife so I have no idea if even still has it, let alone if either of those issues persist. The last time I shot it, it had neither problem post-service work. YMMV.
-
The quick reply box has never had a smilies list here. Some forums add it in as a modification but I've left that alone for the sake of making forum software upgrades easier.
-
Yes, I've been meaning to do that for a while now. I'll do that tomorrow.
-
It passes. The awkward feeling that you have enough guns, I mean. Use this time to stock up on more ammo. Preferably ammo in a caliber that you don't presently own a gun chambered in. See where I'm going with that?

I kept clicking the bolded words in your post. Nothing happened.

They'll be wearing fur coats and driving sport utilities before this week is over!!!

No, I skipped the SK because the short grip just didn't feel right to me. I've had some sub-compacts in the past and they always ended up giving me blood blisters on the heel of my hand when I'd pinch it swapping mags. You should play the lottery. NOW. Before your uncanny ability to anticipate future events ceases!!!
