We bought a Don Hume slide holster for my wife's 642. It rides very high on the belt and would easily conceal under all but the shortest t-shirts.

I don't know if anyone else has mentioned this yet or not... but night sights are generally just all around better than the sights most manufacturers put on their guns from the factory. Even if you use your weapon for 99.9999999% daytime shooting, they are a worthwhile investment. Take factory Glock sights for example. No, really... take them!

#1 - The cops and ATF are going to ask a private citizen where the gun they were in possession of came from also. #2 - The private citizen is also going to be out the money they paid for the gun if it is confiscated. And perhaps have their ass in the sling also. #3 - If you are incorporated, you as an employee or officer of the company are less liable than the corporation itself is. If you are not incorporated, then you are as culpable as Joe Citizen. Really it sounds to me like what you're saying is that what is good for the goose isn't good for the gander. Unless the gander is off the clock and buying/selling privately.

It's called "plausible deniability" and I like to have it when I transfer a firearm to a buyer. I want them to be able to prove who sold it to them [me] and I want to be able to prove who I sold it to [them]. You can also lie on BATFE form #4473 about those things. You will probably get caught by the TBI instant check, but you might luck out. The bottom line for me is that if you refuse to complete and sign that form, I'm going to refuse to sell the weapon to you.

Welcome, Brad. My wife has family in Spring Hill so we are over there quite a bit and hope to maybe move closer to that area sometime soon. Owl Hollow is a nice facility and I think that you'll enjoy your membership quite a bit. As for HCP classes... my wife just took hers from Todd & Dustin at "CIS" in Smyrna. People who refuse to use a FTF form or bill of sale make me think twice about selling to them. And there is no such thing as a gun that is "off the radar" unless it is one you built yourself. All guns have an owner and a history attached to them at some point, on some document, somewhere.

Everyone should read this reply and take heed... There is actually, ongoing at this moment, a situation involving a person that I am aware of who purchased a firearm from someone else in a face-to-face deal and did not receive a bill of sale. This transaction involves two people who came together as buyer and seller after a for-sale post on an Internet forum! The buyer ended up having to use the firearm in a self defense situation. When the police did the normal investigation that follows one of these events, they found that the firearm in question had been stolen. The seller denied ever having sold the firearm to the buyer. There was no bill of sale to back up the seller's claim, so the buyer could end up facing some serious jail time as the result of owning a stolen firearm. The assumption being that without evidence to prove otherwise, there is now reasonable suspicion that the buyer stole the firearm himself. So what would have been an otherwise justified use of force in self-defense has now turned into a legal nightmare for an innocent party. If that's the kind of thing you want to set yourself up for, then by all means you should do private, off the record transactions with people who refuse to sign the form that we've provided or refuse to provide you with a bill of sale. People like Kiwkrnu or The Rabbi who like things "off the radar".

Really? [ame] [/ame]Sounds like he is pretty hell bent on disarming America. It's no secret he'd like to do the same to you and I individually as he is already on record as wanting to forbid gun shops to exist within a 15 mile radius of any school. Think about that. 15 miles. You'd be out of work.

You are absolutely right. I hadn't even thought about it, but these people are everywhere and inside every social circle. I used to deal with it all the time when I had an '03 Mach 1. I couldn't go to a parts store without some assclown telling me all about my car, and most of it was wrong. So, tell me about this civilian scuba diving. I read about it in a magazine once...

You really don't have to possess a wealth of knowledge yourself. A lot of times BS can be ferreted out by using common sense or just gauging a person's demeanor. I think there is a law of inverse proportions at work in most gun shops. The people who are quiet or just making small talk are the ones who probably know the most. It's the guys who can't hold a gun without announcing to anyone within ear shot every minute specification about it per Handgun Digest that subconsciously make me start clenching my fists. I can't stand a lot of I.T. people for the same reason, which really sucks given the industry I'm in. We (myself excluded, I hope) often have diarrhea of the mouth when it comes to technical trivia. When people ask me what I do for work anymore, I just tell them I'm in the porn industry or deal crack. It's less embarrassing.

I have such a hard time separating the two.
