  1. And by foul mood I would add that most GOP voters are going to stay home rather than cast a vote for McCain (RINO) or throw away their votes on a 3rd party.
  2. Really? [ame] [/ame]Sounds like he is pretty hell bent on disarming America. It's no secret he'd like to do the same to you and I individually as he is already on record as wanting to forbid gun shops to exist within a 15 mile radius of any school. Think about that. 15 miles. You'd be out of work.
  3. If you can stomach the "convenience fee" you can find them on eBay for about $75-100 over retail cost with immediate shipping. Or you may luck into one if you watch the For Sale areas on big forums like Glocktalk, 1911.org, etc.
  4. Well, that's not until next month... so that gives me time.
  5. I tried that angle. I should have given a Mother's Day present it seems.
  6. But I'm seriously dropping some mega hints about what I want for my birthday.
  7. You are absolutely right. I hadn't even thought about it, but these people are everywhere and inside every social circle. I used to deal with it all the time when I had an '03 Mach 1. I couldn't go to a parts store without some assclown telling me all about my car, and most of it was wrong. So, tell me about this civilian scuba diving. I read about it in a magazine once...
  8. You know, Steve... we haven't been hanging out enough lately. Let me know when you get this range built and we'll catch up on old times. At your place.
  9. You really don't have to possess a wealth of knowledge yourself. A lot of times BS can be ferreted out by using common sense or just gauging a person's demeanor. I think there is a law of inverse proportions at work in most gun shops. The people who are quiet or just making small talk are the ones who probably know the most. It's the guys who can't hold a gun without announcing to anyone within ear shot every minute specification about it per Handgun Digest that subconsciously make me start clenching my fists. I can't stand a lot of I.T. people for the same reason, which really sucks given the industry I'm in. We (myself excluded, I hope) often have diarrhea of the mouth when it comes to technical trivia. When people ask me what I do for work anymore, I just tell them I'm in the porn industry or deal crack. It's less embarrassing.
  10. I have such a hard time separating the two.
  11. Is it just me or do any of you also get the almost uncontrollable urge to punch people at gun shops, firing ranges, gun shows, forums, etc when they start in on the firearms knowledge "dick measuring" contests or otherwise talking complete and utter bullsqueeze about something they clearly know very little about? It used to entertain me. Now it just annoys the hell out of me. But it seems almost inevitable at any one of the venues listed above, I will be subjected to listening to some clown tell everything he knows about whatever firearm is being discussed. And usually everything he knows is whatever he read in a magazine or heard from a friend's sister's room mate's cousin's hair dresser's boyfriend who is a COP... because all cops are the ultimate authority on firearms and invoking a cop as your source of information instantly adds 10,0000pts of credibility to your stupid story. Sorry. I'm just on a bit of a rant this morning after butting heads with some Gun Magazine Ninja who swears to Jesus that his friend (a cop) already has a particular firearm that isn't due to be released for another few months. This guy got it because he's a cop. Just walked into a gun shop and said "I want XYZ gun and here are my cop credentials" and the store owner winked, nudged a stock boy and they coyly produced one of them from behind the counter where it had been secretly stored away. Riiiiiiight. I hate people sometimes. Well, no... most of the times. So, what are your funny stories like this? Joe, I bet you've got some real winners from working in the retail firearms industry. Too bad you probably can't tell them.
  12. Fixed. Thanks.
  13. The first post in this thread contains a link to the calendar entry. The calendar entry has directions.
  14. This is something we all might want to think about when we "gear up" for carry.
  15. I'm with this guy. I have both the MTAC and the Versa Max 2. The VM2 is much more comfortable than the MTAC with my 1911.
  16. So far I'm seeing some really good application of the Ignore feature mentioned in this thread. I suspect if we ran a report, we'd see one user in particular showing up on a lot of ignore lists.
  17. Too bad I know that the forum software won't let Admin or Moderator accounts be ignored.
  18. Did someone say something?
  19. Apparently one of the big agencies asked and they got their answer. Railed top and bottom for optics and lighting. 8 shot capacity. Perfect for it's intended use. Just because you don't go kicking in doors with an entry team it doesn't mean that no one else does and needs what that weapon provides.
  20. The date for this event will be Saturday, June 21st. It will take place at the Owl Hollow Gun Club in Spring Hill, TN as before. Lunch arrangements have yet to be made but we are investigating the option of grilling on site. If that falls through, the alternative lunch location will be the Burger King in Spring Hill at 11:30am. Several attendees had mentioned that they were tired of Snappy Tomato and preferred to just eat quick and head to the range. I agree with both of those sentiments. Stay tuned for a definitive answer about where we will be eating.
  21. The guys in front are the shield guys. A revolver is said to work better for them because it can be used entirely one handed, including cycling it past dud rounds. Plus there is no slide to recoil back and smack them in the faces, etc. while shooting from around cover.
  22. Heck yes! I forget which magazine had it, but a while back there was a review on that S&W as a "Shield Gun" for SWAT entry team members. Very cool stuff.
  23. If you want to get all technical about it... I'd go with a reliable 9mm carbine. Reason? 1. Ammo is everywhere 2. It's the same caliber as my carry handgun 3. You're not likely to need to shoot beyond 100yds for self defense 4. If #3 proves to be untrue, the S has HTF beyond what you're likely prepared for All of those things being said, I still prefer 5.56mm because AR platform rifles kick ass.
  24. Orange if you zoom into it.
