Newbies need coaching. They need for their gun-owning friends to adopt them and mentor them, to make them good custodians of the new power in their hands.

That's awesome! Keep at it. After I had some work done on my shoulder early this year, I skimped slightly on my PT and regretted it. Getting back after PT properly made all the difference.

WIth that large of an objective lens, you're going to need a mount that puts the midline of the optic at 1.93" or taller.

I honestly can't come up with the words. I am heartbroken. I am angry. I am not ashamed to tell you that I'm sitting here with tears in my eyes. Y'all.... Mikey literally spent some of his last hours reaching out on TGO for a connection to the outside world. You all were his community. You were his lifeline beyond the four walls of his hospital room. Please don't ever forget that. Don't misinterpret TGO to be just another gun forum. This place is literally home to many of us. Damn it. I just can't.

Awareness Along With Naiveite
TGO David replied to pop pop's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
It's because you copied and pasted the whole thing from another site. It brought their formatting over with it. When you do that, our forum will ask you at the bottom of the editor if you want to paste as plain text. Answer YES to that. -
By popular demand, I am happy to unveil to you all a DARK visual theme for TGO. You can select it by scrolling to the bottom of the page, finding the link for "THEMES" and selecting TGO Dark Earth from the list as shown in the screenshot below. The Benefactor members have been helping me test the new design for the past 24 hours or so and I've used their feedback to refine it into something that I think is reasonably ready for prime time use. With that being said, this is still very much a first public release. It's a one-dot-zero (1.0) in tech terms. This means that you and I are probably going to discover things together that I need to fix or modify. When that happens, please use the Feedback and Support forum to report whatever issue you have found. I can tell you now that you will find that other members have chosen to use colors in their posts that simply do not look good on a dark background. It will also become very obvious when you see that someone has copied text from another website and pasted it into the editor here when making a new post. Often that brings over a background color for whatever they are pasting, and it looks like . When you discover that, bear in mind that there isn't much I can do about it. Just reply and tell your friends to cut it out. Alright... no more jibber jabber from me. Get on with it. Bring on the darness!

Tennessee Carry Prohibited Locations - Forum Empty For Me
TGO David replied to phil1979's topic in Feedback and Support
Thanks for reporting this. I've corrected the problem. -
Somewhere along the line, docs got smart and realized that moving quickly to PT after joint replacement was the key to a faster recovery. I bet the first patient they sold that bill of goods to wanted to punch them square in the nose, but it's got a good proven track record now as I am sure you know. Hoping for a quick recovery for her!

Will pray for you both this morning. The good news is that the docs here in the States have had about 8-9 months of experience under their belt and it's been like a crash course in med-school for them. They've learned a LOT about how to treat patients with COVID-19. You're going to benefit from that knowledge and experience. Hang in there! We'll keep you company while you're quarantined.

Will absolutely pray for them both.

Glad you all liked it. Lord knows we may be on the verge of having to keep our existing rifles running for a very long time.

The video below is the best I have seen, to date, on how the AR15/M4/M16 (AR Platform) works. It covers everything, including a fantastic detailed overview of the firing sequence, in a very well done computer-rendered animation. It is eye opening to see how the pieces come together in a very elegant symphony. If there was any doubt in your head that Eugene Stoner was a genius, this should dispel those thoughts. Not only is this video just fun to watch, it is helpful to gain a solid understanding of how the rifle works so that you can troubleshoot it when it doesn't. Enjoy.

A2 Front Post Taper Pin Removal Issues (HELP)
TGO David replied to Hammer285's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I've been there. My knowledge is gained from experience, albeit not on an AR. Taper pins are used in other machinery and I've buggered them up removing them from the spindles that hold pulleys onto electric motors. -
A2 Front Post Taper Pin Removal Issues (HELP)
TGO David replied to Hammer285's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I will add... the way the PINS should be oriented is as follows on an AR in standard config with the ejection port toward the right-hand side of the user. INSTALL: Drive IN from the ejection port side (right side) of the rifle REMOVE: Drive OUT from the the bolt release side (left side) of the rifle. -
A2 Front Post Taper Pin Removal Issues (HELP)
TGO David replied to Hammer285's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
They are called taper pins for a reason. One end is larger than the other. They only go in and go out one way. Heat helps. A short starter punch helps even more. An armorer's block designed to hold the barrel and sight fixture flat and secure while you beat on them helps just as much. They will come out, but they are designed NOT to come out easily. That's their point. Depending on how badly the narrow end of the pins have been mangled in the current efforts to free that A2 sight and gas block from the barrel, you may need to have someone with a drill press and armorer's block help bore out the part of the narrow end that is captured in the gas block so that it can be driven free. -

Huh... I didn't even realize that was a new thing. I found the setting that controls it and changed it back to the old way.
