  1. As much as you want to shoot. Yep!
  2. Just come on out. You'll be OK. Holstering is fine. I've never had anyone tell me that I couldn't and I've always carried there and back. I no longer shoot at Hobson Pike because they get a hair in their ass anytime I want to holster my gun (on range) rather than leave it lying on the bench.
  3. That usually means steel case and lacquered primers doesn't it?
  4. I'd love to believe there will be a glut of surplus 5.56 but how realistic is that? It seems that the manufacturers couldn't crank it out fast enough for Iraq.
  5. Man if you're driving to Hobson, you're only 30 minutes away from OHGC. Why not just drive on down and meet everyone?
  6. Shooting 5.56 is going to force me into reloading, otherwise it's going to get stupid-expensive real fast. I sold my last AR simply because it had become too expensive to feed and I had better uses for the money at the time. Decisions, decisions.
  7. The past few shoots the backer boards on the rifle range were wooden. You stapled your targets to them.
  8. Congrats.
  9. Holstered weapons are fine. Or at least they have been every time I've been there.
  10. I don't know... those bowling pins KNOW him now. They'll probably surrender rather than be shot.
  11. I like the idea of having one NFA lower that you can throw a 9mm or a 5.56mm upper on depending on the mood. What really has me right now is the cost of 5.56 ammo; especially as I look with an eye toward the CIS Defensive Carbine class and the 1,000 round requirement. 1,000 rounds of 9mm wasn't exactly cheap but it wasn't at the same price point as 5.56mm is right now. It would be nearly $400 in ammo just do to 5.56 for that class. Shooting 9mm would be a lot more economical for me. I suppose there's no reason you couldn't shoot that class with a 22LR conversion as long as it cycled reliably.
  12. Yes. They have pretty clear cut statements about what sort of targets may be shot. Paper and clay pigeons. That's it.
  13. I am seriously thinking about going with a 9mm upper when I build my SBR. What do I need to know about mags, magwell, etc? I know you just use your 5.56mm lower, but do you run an adapter block of some sort or what? Thanks.
  14. I am not going to propose another cookout for July. We'll switch back to a local restaurant and let folks recover a little from pitching in on this month's meet and shoot. And thank you for supplying the grill for this weekend's event!
  15. The 12th is bad for me as well. I'd have to sit that weekend out if it becomes the one of choice.
  16. From a search of the thread... no. So I'll pick up cheese slices when we get the burgers and hot dogs tonight at SAMS.
  17. Very thoughtful of you. Do we have anyone bringing cheese slices? If not, I'll add that to our list.
  18. Speaking from firsthand experience... Actually the State of TN has a very nice technology infrastructure and employs a ton of programmers. The problem is that each department (Education, Safety, Finance and Administration, etc.) has their own technology division and there is not a whole lot of standardization across them. So while one department may really excel at having a technologically advanced web portal for things like looking up information, another department may not. Popular disciplines are .NET and Oracle. If you know either of those, especially Oracle, you can get a job with the State pretty easy.
  19. Do we want to go ahead and pick a weekend in July to try to do another middle TN meet & shoot? Saturday the 12th Saturday the 19th Saturday the 26th I am going to suggest we stick with Owl Hollow for the time being unless someone wants to take it upon themselves to arrange an alternate venue. OHGC seems to provide a reasonably central meeting point plus we are able to shoot long guns and hand guns there in an outdoor setting. That makes it a 'win' on several levels. Vote accordingly...
  20. I plan on being there regardless of rain. Edit - Exception being thunderstorms. If it's throwing lightning, I will opt to sit it out.
  21. Congrats. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy my MTACs.
  22. Welcome!
  23. Welcome to the zoo!
  24. Now are these stripped lowers or the CMMG complete lowers, complete lowers minus stock, or .... ?
  25. Ok... so I need to go ahead and get a Revocable Trust set up. *sigh* Someone should put together a nice how-to on this.
