  1. Very thoughtful of you. Do we have anyone bringing cheese slices? If not, I'll add that to our list.
  2. Speaking from firsthand experience... Actually the State of TN has a very nice technology infrastructure and employs a ton of programmers. The problem is that each department (Education, Safety, Finance and Administration, etc.) has their own technology division and there is not a whole lot of standardization across them. So while one department may really excel at having a technologically advanced web portal for things like looking up information, another department may not. Popular disciplines are .NET and Oracle. If you know either of those, especially Oracle, you can get a job with the State pretty easy.
  3. Do we want to go ahead and pick a weekend in July to try to do another middle TN meet & shoot? Saturday the 12th Saturday the 19th Saturday the 26th I am going to suggest we stick with Owl Hollow for the time being unless someone wants to take it upon themselves to arrange an alternate venue. OHGC seems to provide a reasonably central meeting point plus we are able to shoot long guns and hand guns there in an outdoor setting. That makes it a 'win' on several levels. Vote accordingly...
  4. I plan on being there regardless of rain. Edit - Exception being thunderstorms. If it's throwing lightning, I will opt to sit it out.
  5. Congrats. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy my MTACs.
  6. Welcome!
  7. Welcome to the zoo!
  8. Now are these stripped lowers or the CMMG complete lowers, complete lowers minus stock, or .... ?
  9. Ok... so I need to go ahead and get a Revocable Trust set up. *sigh* Someone should put together a nice how-to on this.
  10. I'm going to put your post count back to 56-billion where it was before.
  11. Yeah, I can add something like that.
  12. And correct me if I'm wrong, but you can use this lower with a non-NFA upper and not have to file Form 4, correct? So I could buy the lower, build a non-NFA rifle at first and then later file Form 4 and use it to carry a 10.5" barrel upper. Or is that wrong?
  13. I prefer to call Nashville the "615" because it is in touch with my inner hood-rat.
  14. Dan, what 10.5" upper would you recommend? I've been toying with the idea of an LMT complete upper.
  15. What's that from?
  16. We've got some really good pictures from the class. Plenty with brass flying, slides cycling, etc. As soon as I get an OK from the guys at CIS to post a link to them, I will. PS: My wife took all of those pictures that I've linked so far, and all of the others in the gallery. She got tired of hanging out around the house on Sunday and decided to come hang out with us on the firing line and take pictures. She's pretty cool like that sometimes.
  17. Smyrnahoma has a pretty good ring to it.
  18. I'll go ahead and say YES. I'll beg forgiveness later if I have to.
  19. You know... one thing I am considering doing to my Glock 19 is having "rip free" notches cut into the very bottom of the grip side panels so that you can really get good purchase on the magazine base plate if you have to do a failure drill because of a double-feed malfunction. I know that Burwell, Bowie and others do this to a lot of polymer handguns that come to them for custom work. It should be an easy thing to accomplish with a Dremel if you don't mind it being a little sloppy, but I think I am going to try to have it done with some precision so that it at least looks right. Yes, Mars... the HK USP and P2000 already have this.
  20. The idea of a Defensive Pistol "Level Two" class makes me kind of giddy. It would be awesome if they would do that. Almost as awesome as it would be if I can get an AR together before September and take the carbine class.
  21. Natosha, I was actually very impressed with the Blackhawk SERPA holsters that I saw in use at a class I took this past weekend. Purely from a weapon retention standpoint I think they offer a very secure way to keep your Glock yours while providing an intuitive way to release it on the draw. Since it sounds like you are going to use a cover garment of some sort (loose overshirt, etc.) this may be a good option for you.
  22. He was this guy... liked dogs... got banned from a dog forum once.
  23. Dan, I'd like to "speak for one" but let me clear it with the boss first.
  24. It's no different than when Voldemort asked about HCP classes in Spanish and {cough} people {/cough} blasted him for asking it and turned it into a debate on illegal immigration. Knowhutamean?
