I was wrong. Rabbi is apparently willing to step in for you and deal with the ATF on your behalf.

While this is of no consequence, I cannot help but to have noticed over the past few years of reading gun forums online that there is a pervading attitude of belligerence toward the Government or authorities when issues like this come up. As a result, some really bad advice is given. Perhaps more frightening, some of it is actually followed. I don't think any of us here feel warm and fuzzy about having our Constitutionally guaranteed freedoms infringed upon. Some of us may feel that the government has no business limiting the number of firearms that we can sell privately, but the government respectfully disagrees with us and has the wherewithal to make life very, very unpleasant should we choose to ignore their opinion. There are a lot of issues where you can get away with being a conscientious objector and suffer no ill effects. There are even those times when you can engage in civil disobedience and only receive a slap on the wrist. But this isn't one of them. Like I said, nobody here is going to volunteer to go to jail for you or pay a fine if they are wrong and the government is right. I think you're doing the right thing by investigating your options and choosing to play the game according to the Fed's rules. Good luck.

Just remember that the vast majority of the time, members of the general public interact with police officers when they (the police) are doing their job. Usually that means that someone broke the law, and I'd wager that for most of us that means we got pulled over in traffic for some reason or another. And just how happy are we to see the police then? I tell my kids all the time that when they get in trouble with me, they can be mad about it all they want -- but they need to be mad at themselves for breaking the rules. Not mad at me for calling them on it. Something to think about.

I would be interested in that. As for the hats and such, I don't have any of those. Hero Gear is the only shop selling them but I imagine Joe might have some down there.

None of the people who are giving you advice here (good or bad) is going to step up and go to prison for you or pay a fine for you if they're wrong and the Government was right. I think I'd take heed to what a Federal Agent told me and give more weight to that than I would what a bunch of faceless strangers on the Internet told me. If they felt you were doing something that might get you in trouble, then they are already watching you. Only you know the specifics of this situation. Take that, add it to what you learn when you receive your FFL information packet, then let your gut instinct be your guide. In the meantime, I'd try talking to a competent lawyer also and solicit their professional opinion. Good luck.

Discussion about PINK firearms and their popularity
TGO David replied to Garufa's topic in General Chat
Sorry for the confusion. This thread started as a bunch of off-topic posts in a Vendor thread. Since we discourage off-topic stuff in Vendor threads, I split them off into their own thread. Somehow the post I meant to start it off with vanished. -
Yep, there is a ton of it. Some of it is amusing and some of it just makes you shake your head at it.

Ok. Not really looking for a debate on the matter, just reposting what information is available on the springs. Some people like a light(er) trigger on their carry guns. Others don't. I'm one of the others.

I thought about this some after I posted my last reply. I likely wouldn't install the FPS anyway since it reduces the trigger weight a little. A carry gun could actually stand a slightly higher trigger weight, in my opinion, so that spring will stay in the baggie and out of my gun. But yeah, the spring cups are a pain to find when they go flying. I learned that lesson with my Glock 23 a few years ago.

Yes, they sent both. To date I have only installed the recoil spring. Haven't made time to install the FPS yet. I ordered mine directly from Wolff.

The rare and elusive CWP badge! Caught on film!
TGO David replied to Punisher84's topic in General Chat
And a few folks have mentioned to me in conversations lately that you have a very "cop-like" appearance in both dress and demeanor. So people probably take you for as being someone who should be carrying a gun* and never really think twice about it. You should shop for a Crown Vic just to really screw with people. * Because, you know... regular people shouldn't. -
I'll be taking advantage of this next Spring when my wife takes her Defensive Pistol class. Thanks guys!

The rare and elusive CWP badge! Caught on film!
TGO David replied to Punisher84's topic in General Chat
If you want to wear a badge and carry a gun, many police departments are hiring right now. Otherwise, leave the badge at home and just use it as a conversation piece or prop for a practical joke. The next time I'm shooting with folks from TGO, I'm going to try to pin one onto someone's range bag without them noticing. -
Discussion about PINK firearms and their popularity
TGO David replied to Garufa's topic in General Chat
Pink firearms are selling like hotcakes right now as more women continue to enter into the sport. I think that anything that encourages them to do so, learn to shoot and arm themselves for their protection is a good thing. Major firearms manufacturers are slowly realizing that if they offer their more common handguns with pink furniture options, that they will sell the heck out of them. -
I'd be happy to do that. I have made a note to order some today.

I was able to spend some time at Owl Hollow with my family this past weekend thanks to HunterH and JasonF who let us attend as their guests. One of these days we'll actually be able to make it to an orientation session and join, but... The Glock runs like a sewing machine with the 15# recoil spring and stainless guide rod installed. Followup shots are much faster and more easily controlled thanks to the lighter spring. It was a worthwhile investment. I also had a chance to replace my old set of Ameriglo Operator sights with a new set of Amerigo "Pro" Operator sights. Same basic design but the rear sight is set back on the slide a little further and uses white outlines around the tritium vials, much the same as Meprolights do. The new sights fixed the problem with point of impact differing from point of aim. All told, I am very happy with the Glock 19 as my carry gun and these little tweaks make it all the better for me.

I'm not the original poster but I have been using Weapon Shield on my firearms for a little over a year now. In fact, I am still working through my free sample bottle. A little of the stuff really goes a long way. I do not use it as a Cleaning agent but it works great as a Lubricant and Protectant (CLP). A needle applicator would be ideal for things like springs, slide rails, etc. It's very, very slick stuff and almost perpetually leaks from the bottle despite having the lid screwed tightly shut. This thread may actually serve as a reminder for me to go ahead and order more. I really can't say anything bad about it but can attest that it works exactly as advertised. One of the better such products available as far as my experience goes.

I've had a few SIGs over the years. Most recently a P220 SAO Carry. SIGs are nice guns. Built like tanks. They carry like tanks too. Sling - That's a beauty. I love the wood grips on it. Very classic.

Comcast, AOL and sometimes Yahoo filter our emails completely. There's little or nothing we can do about it. Sorry.

When I moved here from Kentucky about 11 years ago, I transferred my Kentucky permit and did not have to retake the class. Had new fingerprints and photo made. At that time, you got your fingerprints done via ink pad at the TDOS station, but it has changed now to an electronic format done at Cogent centers. Not nearly as convenient, but oh well.
