  1. You may already know this, but Noveske is going to start selling an adjustable block of their own soon.
  2. There are people who shouldn't be allowed to touch tools of any sort, regardless of whether we are talking about guns, cars, copiers, computers, airplanes or model boats. The person who did that to that Glock falls into this category.
  3. I have no idea why this was in the Handguns forum but I'm moving it and closing it. This issue has been discussed ad nauseum.
  4. Yeah, but you should have yours done way before I even get my tax stamp back from the BATFE so I'm going to need some pictures posted up! I'll live vicariously through you.
  5. Yep... he's the guy responsible for the grips on that particular 1911. I love them, but I bet I'd cringe if I saw what they cost the owner of the 1911.

    S&W- M&P .40

Sorry, you misread my last post. Between the XD and the M&P pistols that I have owned, I only own the M&P now. I still have, carry and love my Glock 19. I doubt I'll be getting rid of it anytime soon.
  7. I ended up banning the guy in question since it was obvious that he was soliciting members to engage in illegal activities. I'd rather police incidents like this as they occur rather than lock down the PM system such that new members can't use it. Thanks to all who reported those PMs.
  8. Oh and JWP... how about posting some gun porn of a few CCA 1911's.
  9. My Wilson is a tack driver and eats whatever I feed it without complaint. There is definitely a perceptible difference in build quality between a Wilson, Nighthawk, Les Baer, etc. and Kimber, Smith & Wesson, Rock Island, etc. It just boils down to the individual's decision of whether those differences are worth the extra expense to them. To some it is. To some it isn't. Neither is wrong.
  10. Nice looking blaster!
  11. I can't remember when I didn't have a beard or goatee of some sort. If I shave it all off, I magically decrease in age (appearance wise) about 10 years. I guess that's a good problem to have but it annoys the **** out of me sometimes. Right now I've trimmed it back quite a bit because of how hot it's been outside. I'll probably let it grow out a little more once we get past August. Oh and I'm right there with Musicman on the reddish brown hair in the beard. My facial hair goes from brown to red to white. No gray. What the hell! Seriously, why not a little gray instead of going straight to white? Thankfully the white ones aren't as prevalent so I just pluck the little bastages when I see them.
  12. Thanks. When the time comes for you to build one, there will be several of us here who can lend a helping hand and/or tools!
  13. This was the first time I have ever built an AR15 lower receiver from parts. I honestly had not made it out to be that difficult in my mind and it was actually even easier than I suspected it would be. If you have any mechanical inclination at all, you can do this in an evening with simple hand tools, an AR15 armorer's wrench and a lower receiver block to lock it into a vise. The parts I used were: Spike's Tactical lower receiver Magpul MIAD standard grip Magpul aluminum enlarged trigger guard Magpul milspec CTR stock Milspec buffer tube with castle nut Yankee Hill ambidextrous sling mount / end plate Carbine length buffer spring Carbine weight buffer CMT lower parts kit DPMS ambidextrous fire control lever Not used but to be installed later is a KNS anti-rotation trigger and hammer pin set. I want to test the rifle for function before I install those. Tools used were: Armorer's wrench Various brass and steel punches Hammer Pocket knife Various hex key wrenches Small piece of 2x4 Standard screw driver Vice grips with jaws wrapped in electrical tape (to press pins in) Lower receiver block (fits in place of magazine) Bench vise (used with lower receiver block) Total time spent on it was about 1.5hrs with a few breaks to get additional tools from the garage, rest my eyes occasionally, and grab bottles of water from the fridge. I could do it again in about 45 minutes. It feels nice to have actually assembled the lower myself. Now I know exactly how the parts interact with one another and can fix anything that breaks by myself. As soon as that pesky Form 1 approval comes back from the BATFE, I'll order my upper receiver and barrel combo, and put that together and mate the two halves into one sexy-assed SBR. Can't wait!
  14. My lower receiver arrived back from Spike's Tactical in Apopka, FL where they engraved it per my instructions to comply with BATFE Form 1 to manufacture a short barrel rifle. The engravings look really nice and were filled in with white paint much the same as the fire control group icons. I'll post more about the engravings later, but for now... pictures of the lower after I got done assembling it this evening.
  15. I think I've weeded out the chaff in my selection at this point. He'll be waiting a while before I let go of any of the ones we have.
  16. Unless Ray Harms works for Gemini Custom, no.
  17. I'd say at least five or six at the current going rate.
  18. First and foremost, this is NOT my gun and I do not know the owner. I am merely reposting the owner's original post from another forum that I frequent. I cannot answer any questions about the firearm and am simply presenting the photos here for your enjoyment. That said, commence drooling! ---[original post follows]--- This was a rebuild of a Officer Frame/BBL length that ate itself to death, is now an Officer Frame/Commander Bbl build on a capsian slide, original colt frame: Ray Harms is the Pistolsmith, Ed Strange of Wicked Grips made the grips
  19. You can do it yourself with a soldering iron with chisel tip and lots of practice on scrap plastic.
  20. It sounds like you and I had similar vacations. I spent last week wrapping up the bulk of the remodeling and painting around our house. If I have to paint a 6-panel interior door ever again, it will be too soon.
  21. It's not clearly labeled at all. But when you click a photo to view its page, beneath the photo is a row of icons. One of the icons is this one: Click on that and it takes you to a page where you can check a box to delete the photo. This is probably one of the worst things about our gallery software.
  22. He's been here a pretty good while and lost a lot of posts when we purged some things a while back. I did him a favor and bumped his access so that he could list his weapons.

    S&W- M&P .40

This seems sort of contradictory. You admit that you don't know much about them but then say you'd go with the XD. I've had experience with and have owned both. I only own an M&P now. Draw your own conclusions.
  24. UPS managed to divert my engraved lower receiver somehow and it was rescheduled to be delivered tomorrow instead of today. Regardless, I should be able to assemble the lower by the end of the week. I suspect I'm still a good 30 days away from hearing anything about the tax stamp but that's OK. Gives me time to stock up on ammo.

    S&W- M&P .40

Well there are still several things not to like about it and if Glock would move to a changeable backstrap design, they could effectively bury the M&P line. The few gripes that I have with the M&P series are... Lack of a definitive trigger reset click / mushy trigger Horrible trigger over travel from the factory Stupid mag-drop issues Stupid premature lock-back issues Frame droop at the picatinny rail MIM sear block instead of CNC machined The first two of those are a pretty big deal to me, but I'm quirky. The next two don't affect all guns, just those built after happy hour apparently. When they do affect a gun, it's a really big deal for obvious reasons. The last two are minor quibbles. The M&P is still a very good gun. Not great, but very good. I don't think the Glock is great either so if that helps the comparison any there you go.
