I see. I admit, I didn't bother looking back through 12 pages to figure out which one it might have been.

A lot of pictures have been posted in this thread. Can you be more specific?

Here is a nice comparison chart of major AR brands, courtesy of the fine folks at www.m4carbine.net . If you haven't already signed up over there, I recommend that you do and (a.) lurk and read a lot and (b.) post only when you can't find an answer for your question by searching their forums. A lot of common questions have already been answered numerous times over. Of course we here are willing to help you in most any way we can as well. The only thing more fun than spending your own money on a new rifle is helping someone else spend their money on a new rifle.

With all due respect, 1911forum.com blows. If you so much as forget to genuflect and cross yourself as you pass the giant painting of St. John Moses Browning in the foyer, you'll receive swift and brutal punishment at the hands of their moderators. I once said that a certain accessory "sucked" on that forum and received a disciplinary action from their moderating team for using such urbane language. Please. If you really want to know about solid fighting 1911s, visit Hilton Yam's 10-8 Forums and do yourself a favor and keep quiet for a while. They are polite but intolerant of neophyte questions that ruin their signal-to-noise ratio.

Obama leads McCain in donations from military
TGO David replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
They just want to come home. Can you blame them for wanting that? I wonder how many of these 134 serving overseas are just low level grunts and how many are higher level officers. I would suspect that the percentage among higher level officers swings the other direction and favors McCain. The people with a more birds-eye view of the ongoing plan of action aren't as concerned about coming home as they are about winning the war. So to translate: Private First Class Homesick is donating to the Obama campaign. File that under "D" for DUH. Colonel Init T. Winit is donating to the McCain campaign because he doesn't want to see all of our hard work get washed down the tubes by some freshman hack senator who is willing to pander to whomever writes the biggest checks. You're my homeboy, Len... but if Obama gets elected I'm going to leave you daily "State Of The Union" voicemails for the next four years telling you how much he sucks. -
Gallatin Police Department Sitting on $1500 1911
TGO David replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I sort of wondered that too back when he had the run-in with the cop outside of his local Wal-Mart. I remember reading it and thinking that both sides could have handled the matter a lot better than they did. -
Gallatin Police Department Sitting on $1500 1911

I'm guessing the same people who would be willing to spend a couple thousand in legal costs (not to mention missing work) to do this... -
As do we all I'm sure.

Tungsten's CQBR build... MK18 Clone
TGO David replied to TGO David's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
I decided to add a Noveske KX3 (aka the Krink) flash hider to the build. These ugly little flash hiders are said to help address two problems with short barrel ARs. Namely, they direct a lot of the concussion foreward of the shooter so that it's not so damned loud back behind the trigger and they aid in proper back-pressure for more reliable cycling of the gas system. Other people's pictures follow... -
You are fortunate to have a local FFL that doesn't charge a fee. Consider, however, that you are supposed to pay the Tennessee Dept of Revenue a "use tax" on any mail or Internet orders from out of state. Whether you do this is your business, but legally you're required to do so.

CCW coarse Nashville Female instructor?
TGO David replied to willis68's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Yes, Deidre is the employee / instructor and would have been my recommendation also if it has to be a female-led class. My other recommendation would be Todd and Dustin at CIS. Neither of them are chicks (Todd... I gave you a perfect setup here, man. How often does Dustin actually read the forum? ) but my wife took their class and never once felt intimidated or otherwise uncomfortable by the fact that it was taught by men. -
Obviously a joke, but just the act of accepting money for a transaction like this is enough to put you away for a while.
-
Gentlemen, I'm going to postpone my participation until 2009 so that I can get my SBR finished, dialed in and stockpile ammo. I came >THIS< close to taking Todd and dunndw up on their generous offers to borrow a carbine for the class, but I'd still be out the cost of ammo and tuition at the moment. Funds that presently need to be applied to finishing up this silly SBR and, as my wife keeps reminding me, putting furniture in the nursery. I look forward to reviews from the class and any photos that may be taken along the way!

You know... Glocks are the 1911 of the polymer handgun world. Look at the tremendous aftermarket support that they enjoy! You can buy a Glock and have the foundation upon which to build a gun exactly the way you want it, however you want it, for very little cash. Or you can buy an HK and have an HK exactly the way that HK wants you to have it.

Serious Legal help needed.
TGO David replied to Fivestring63's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I'm pessimistic by nature when it comes to matters of divorce because unfortunately I've been through it more than once. Each time I learned something new and always the hard way. Just remember that it's you vs. her no matter what it looks like on the surface. Like the old saying goes, diplomacy is the art of saying "Nice doggy" while you reach for a heavy rock. Make sure your attorney is the heaviest rock you can afford. -
American Signature Furniture is the new Wal-Mart.

I've had two occasions where the dogs went sort of nuts and my wife thought someone might be trying to get into our house in the wee hours of the morning. Trust me when I say this: When the adrenaline hits, you will be wide awake and not groggily fumbling with your gun. Which makes it hard to go back to sleep after you figure out that it was the wind scraping a branch across the side of the house, or a raccoon on the porch.

TGO David replied to Fivestring63's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Edited for brevity and quoted for the absolute ****ing truth. It's amazing what attorneys don't tell their clients; namely to shut the hell up and not have social conversations with their soon to be ex-wife. Then again, it's also likely a racket. Your attorney knows that the more you talk, the more work they get to do to fix what your mouth caused, which means more hours that they can bill you for. -

Geez... I don't mean to kick you in the balls here, but that was a really dumb thing to do. You always play your cards close to your vest in a divorce case and never tell the opposing side anything that they do not have an absolute need to know. You're going to have to be smarter than this or risk losing your ass because you were a good ole boy that got suckered bad by a bitch of an ex-wife and her foaming at the mouth pitbull of an attorney. Your mindset is totally screwed up here because your heart's involved! It's war, plain and simple. I don't care how much you think you're getting along or how much you still love her. This is the voice of experience talking. Heed it! Sorry if it seems like I'm being hard on you, but what I see here is a brother setting himself up in a bad way. Look out for number one (YOURSELF) and **** everyone else! You can be mad at me now, but you may end up thanking me later if she and her attorney start trying to bury knives in your back. -
I have a Nikon Monarch on 3-9x40 on my Remington 7400. Love it. Wouldn't trade you it for a dozen BSA scopes. Prior to having the Monarch, I had a BSA 3-9x40 and it lasted about one season before getting to where it wouldn't hold zero for more than two or three shots. I took the BSA off of my rifle and threw it into the trash. My Nikon has held perfect zero for over 8 years now. No kidding.

Welcome to the fray. Since you know some folks here already, it's safe for us to assume you know what you're getting yourself into by associating with this bunch.

Moving to Chattanooga or Knoxville soon.....
TGO David replied to a topic in New Member Introductions
The time I've spent around Knoxville left me with the impression that it's got all of the negatives of Nashville (congested, dirty in places, etc.) but not many advantages unless you consider close proximity to Dollywood a perk. Plus there's just way too much "orange" over there so you never really know if the guy who walked into the bank is an escaped convict in a prison jumpsuit, or just another rabid Vols fan. Yeah I know that's a really broad generalization but first impressions are lasting impressions. Chattanooga offers a really nice downtown area and is equally distant from both Nashville and Atlanta, Knoxville is really just a short drive up I-75, and it has beautiful scenery and is very close to a lot of really fun outdoors attractions like the Ocoee and Hiwassee rivers, Cherokee National Forest, etc. You're a stone's throw from Georgia and Alabama and can often get cheaper gasoline just by driving a few minutes into either. If I had to pick another major Tennessee city to live near, Chattanooga would get my vote. -
Nice find. Will you be a good friend and sell it back to him for the same $150 after he gets back on his feet? At least give him first dibs on it should you ever decide to part with it yourself. Family heirlooms shouldn't be sold except as a last resort.

$$$ If it weren't for that, I'm sure that 'everyone' who has had this happen to them would.
