  1. I've had two occasions where the dogs went sort of nuts and my wife thought someone might be trying to get into our house in the wee hours of the morning. Trust me when I say this: When the adrenaline hits, you will be wide awake and not groggily fumbling with your gun. Which makes it hard to go back to sleep after you figure out that it was the wind scraping a branch across the side of the house, or a raccoon on the porch.
  2. Edited for brevity and quoted for the absolute ****ing truth. It's amazing what attorneys don't tell their clients; namely to shut the hell up and not have social conversations with their soon to be ex-wife. Then again, it's also likely a racket. Your attorney knows that the more you talk, the more work they get to do to fix what your mouth caused, which means more hours that they can bill you for.
  3. Geez... I don't mean to kick you in the balls here, but that was a really dumb thing to do. You always play your cards close to your vest in a divorce case and never tell the opposing side anything that they do not have an absolute need to know. You're going to have to be smarter than this or risk losing your ass because you were a good ole boy that got suckered bad by a bitch of an ex-wife and her foaming at the mouth pitbull of an attorney. Your mindset is totally screwed up here because your heart's involved! It's war, plain and simple. I don't care how much you think you're getting along or how much you still love her. This is the voice of experience talking. Heed it! Sorry if it seems like I'm being hard on you, but what I see here is a brother setting himself up in a bad way. Look out for number one (YOURSELF) and **** everyone else! You can be mad at me now, but you may end up thanking me later if she and her attorney start trying to bury knives in your back.
  4. I have a Nikon Monarch on 3-9x40 on my Remington 7400. Love it. Wouldn't trade you it for a dozen BSA scopes. Prior to having the Monarch, I had a BSA 3-9x40 and it lasted about one season before getting to where it wouldn't hold zero for more than two or three shots. I took the BSA off of my rifle and threw it into the trash. My Nikon has held perfect zero for over 8 years now. No kidding.
  5. Welcome to the fray. Since you know some folks here already, it's safe for us to assume you know what you're getting yourself into by associating with this bunch.
  6. The time I've spent around Knoxville left me with the impression that it's got all of the negatives of Nashville (congested, dirty in places, etc.) but not many advantages unless you consider close proximity to Dollywood a perk. Plus there's just way too much "orange" over there so you never really know if the guy who walked into the bank is an escaped convict in a prison jumpsuit, or just another rabid Vols fan. Yeah I know that's a really broad generalization but first impressions are lasting impressions. Chattanooga offers a really nice downtown area and is equally distant from both Nashville and Atlanta, Knoxville is really just a short drive up I-75, and it has beautiful scenery and is very close to a lot of really fun outdoors attractions like the Ocoee and Hiwassee rivers, Cherokee National Forest, etc. You're a stone's throw from Georgia and Alabama and can often get cheaper gasoline just by driving a few minutes into either. If I had to pick another major Tennessee city to live near, Chattanooga would get my vote.
  7. Nice find. Will you be a good friend and sell it back to him for the same $150 after he gets back on his feet? At least give him first dibs on it should you ever decide to part with it yourself. Family heirlooms shouldn't be sold except as a last resort.
  8. $$$ If it weren't for that, I'm sure that 'everyone' who has had this happen to them would.
  9. I think if I had to choose between those two, I would without a doubt choose Chattanooga.
  10. That was last year. My lawn is completely dead right now since I refuse to pay upwards of $300/mo to water it. That's one of the few (very few) benefits of not having to deal with a homeowners association.
  11. Cars are my other passion. My 1987 Mustang GT that I sold earlier this year to Hornet Handler here on the forum: My 1998 GT that I sold a few years ago after getting to the point that playing with it just wasn't fun anymore: And finally, my 2003 Mach 1: There's a pretty interesting story behind the Mach. I bought it from the original owner, a friend of mine, a few years ago. After owning it for about two years, I went through a divorce and the car was a casualty of that. I sold it to try to keep peace and that didn't work out so well. I have been kicking myself for selling it ever since. Earlier this month, the original owner called me up to say that he had just seen the car sitting for sale on a local lot. My new wife and I went by to look at it and sure enough it was my old car. A few days later, my wife sold her truck and bought the Mach back for me! So I'm now the second and fourth owner of the car. We are in the process of restoring it back to the condition it was in previously. The douchebag who owned it between me and, um... me, didn't take care of it the way I had so it's been a slow process of making things right.
  12. Natosha, I'm not sure a clip-in style holster is really going to work that well with a heavy gun like your Glock 26 and shorts without a belt. The accepted school of thought is that a sturdy belt is the foundation of a comfortable holster system. I say system because the parts really do have to work together as one. Have you thought much about getting a small revolver like a S&W J-frame to carry in a pocket? Or even the new Ruger LCP automatic might be a good choice, although I think I'd rather have the slightly more potent cartridge from the .38spl than the .380 automatic.
  13. The Carter Administration is directly responsible for our current predicament with Iran. Prior to Carter, we had a very strong relationship with Iran via Shah Reza Pahlav. When the Carter Administration turned its back on Pahlav, Pahlav was deposed and Ayatollah Ruholla Khomeini returned from exile in France and assumed power. Ayatollah Khomeini was certainly no friend of the United States and his assumption of power marked a serious swing in anti-Western, anti-American hatred in Iran's government. You might remember this as the catalyst for the Iran US Hostage crisis that started in 1979 and lasted for 444 days. So yeah, Carter was and remains the biggest Presidential F-Up in both your and my lifetimes. Bush doesn't hold a candle to him.
  14. Stick to debating the issues and not the person. We don't need personal attacks here from either camp.
  15. That's taking things pretty literally. Don't look now, but the car in your driveway isn't whatever nameplate is on the trunk lid. It's actually an amalgamation of at least twenty or thirty manufacturer's parts.
  16. I guess it would be nice to know what manufacturer made the frame if you are worried about the metallurgical properties or something... but really I don't see the ultimate importance of it to the average consumer. For instance, Tokico makes the shocks and struts for many Ford vehicles but Ford assigns each a Ford Motor Company part number and in effect they become "Ford Parts". This sort of OEM sourcing happens all the time and isn't consequential to most folks.
  17. I don't have one. You need to talk to Easily Obsessed. His is the one that I shot with once.
  18. Millett DMS-1
  19. Let's build one!!!
  20. The Dan Wesson bobtails are great little guns.
  21. They received mine on the 21st so I'm much less into it than you are. I never bothered to look and see if they had cashed my cashier's check or not. If current trends on M4C are any indication, you and I may see our stamps close to the 50 day point. Some have reported close to 30, others closer to 60. What else are you using in your build? It looks like our rifles are REALLY similar since we both went with Spikes lowers, Magpul CTR stocks and LMT 10.5 uppers.
  22. That being said, good 10.5 bbls can be accurate out to 100yds and effective at 200yds with proper holdover. I haven't seen anyone claim anything beyond those two distances though.
  23. Ballistics aren't really that much of a concern to me on a CQB rifle where you typically wouldn't engage targets beyond 50yds. The idea here is bringing a rifle caliber to a handgun fight.
  24. Yes, ours will be extremely similar. If I didn't already have the LaRue 7.0 rail I would be doing exactly what you're talking about. I keep reminding myself that I wanted it to be stupid-proof so the FSB is probably more in keeping with that mentality even though people rarely if ever have problems with the folders. What day did you actually send your paperwork off to the BATFE?
