  1. Heh... saw this on another forum. Did any of you notice that he has one hand posed grabbing his junk? Thug Life 4ever, y0!!!
  2. My long term plans regardless of who is elected are no different than they are now.
  3. http://www.yhm.net/store/grips.html YHM makes or sells them. Can't really tell from their site's description, but they are the first people I remember seeing selling those. If it is something YHM actually makes, quality should be good. Their stuff is usually top notch. That being said, I'd prefer a Harris bipod mounted with a LaRue adapter if it were me. That way you have a rock solid system that can be removed to shed weight from the front of your rifle when you aren't using it. I tend to prefer the stubby vertical grips, though, so I'm admittedly not a big fan of the full-size fore grips.
  4. Looks really grippy! Have you had much trigger time with it since having the work done?
  5. Not that it matters, but the 6th and the 27th are completely out for me and my wife. We already have prior engagements those two Saturdays. But if they work better for everyone else, we hope that everyone will go with the option that makes the most sense for the majority. Just wanted to throw that out there in case one of those two weekends wins out and then we don't show up. It won't be for lack of desire to do so.
  6. Let's see if we can organize a meet and shoot for the middle TN folks in September. Please vote on the poll attached to this thread. I am going to stick with what seems to have been working and state that we will once again meet at Owl Hollow Gun Club for this. If you would like to meet beforehand and have lunch together, please vote on that option as well. Thanks.
  7. The only way to keep the government from dicking you over is to elect the right people. And anyone who talks about a modern day Revolution is dreaming and needs to stop watching Red Dawn so often. You might find pockets of resistance among an armed citizenry, but I seriously doubt you will find a cohesive armed rebellion against the United States government from within. It would be put down swiftly and decisively. The days of taking the government to task through force are over. The only way to take the government to task now is to do it at the election polls.
  8. If your G23 was pre-owned, a previous owner may have replaced the extractor with one that doesn't have the "nub".
  9. And your small reward of self-satisfaction might come at the cost of us all losing our right to keep and bear arms if Obama/Biden win as a the result of a small margin. A margin that could have otherwise been offset if the Third Party idealists hadn't been so narrow minded in their pursuit of "sending a clear message to the GOP and DNC". What's the old addage about cutting your nose off to spite your face? I'll bookmark this thread so that I can come back in November and thank you for this if it comes to pass.
  10. Are you sure you aren't a relativist? Because, frankly, who cares what the reason when the outcome is still just as frustrating and futile.
  11. Smith & Wesson J-Frame.
  12. Regarding bump-fire... Guys please be aware that Owl Hollow Gun Club has asked everyone to limit their rapid / auto firing sequences and to maintain strict control over their firearm when they are doing so. Bump firing is typically not something you can do while maintaining proper aim, and is something you may end up having a Range Safety Officer crack down on. The OHGC members who are acting as "sponsors" of TGO guests could be held accountable if someone complains, and ultimately it could lead to OHGC forbidding organized TGO meet and greets out there. By now I think we've all seen plenty of examples of bump firing and the novelty should be wearing off. From now on I'm requesting that TGO members not do this. If we don't police ourselves, we can expect OHGC to end up policing us. Thanks.
  13. The problem is, the people who will vote for these morons don't care. They will elect them just because the aren't Republicans. The DNC could run a comatose chimpanzee and their target demographic would enthusiastically support them.
  14. Tower, had I known this I would have doubled my effort to be there. As was we spent the morning running errands and cleaning up around the house. Both of which needed to be done pretty badly, but I would have loved to have put a face with a name, shaken hands and put some rounds down range together. Soon perhaps!
  15. Well... it sure sounds like you were born under a bad sign or something, because you seem to have some pretty crappy luck. Hope you get your gun back soon.
  16. Ok, one last remark... there ARE people here who really do know. That's why I said what I did. My information may be second hand, but it seems to be fairly accurate. It's not rumor, it's not speculation. It is what it is. The rest of your post teeters on the edge of absurdity, but it deserves a reply. The officer didn't steal the guy's handgun. He legally seized it since the guy was NOT supposed to be carrying in light of having an expired permit. He COULD have hauled the guy to jail but let him go. I'd say that the officer did him a FAVOR. It really seems that you're one of those guys who doesn't trust anyone in a position of authority so I'm choosing to end my side of this conversation now for real.
  17. Pretty fast paced game in the first half, but entirely due to the large number of turnovers. The second half was just silly. It's as if the Titans were more interested in getting in hard hits and on-field scuffles than they were about putting points on the board or keeping the Falcons from scoring. They better get their acts together quick.
  18. Good grief... whatever man. Subvert the dominant paradigm! I'm out.
  19. The cops don't need me taking up for them. They're pretty capable of handling themselves. After all, who left with the gun in this case? Oh... right... not the kid who likes to wear kilts and get uppity with the guy behind the badge. Yeahhhhh.
  20. Idiot Proof, Stupid Proof, Murphy Proof... all are pithy little terms that get thrown around to illustrate that care has been taken by the designers of a system to make sure that it is operable by the lowest common denominator. I can assure you that I wasn't calling anyone in particular stupid, but merely pointing out that we all are just essentially monkeys with a few evolutionary notches on our belts. The problem with monkeys is that sooner or later, one of them will figure out how to put a banana up it's ass despite the fact that the banana's designer didn't intend for it to go there. Same thing with Glocks and safeties. Verbal more or less stated it here... He just failed to invoke the monkey analogy. Far better men than I have been known to use that as a cardinal rule of handgun safety. Jeff Cooper comes to mind. Not saying that he ever walked on water, but I think he knew a thing or two about firearms. I can think of a half dozen examples of professionals operating in Iraq as hired guns who are carrying Glocks. This based on the photographs that I've seen of them with Glocks in their ready gear. Maybe they were issued to them by their contract employer. Regardless, they are carried. If HK were the end all be all of firearms, everyone who had a clue would own them right? I find it hard to believe that so many LEOs do own Glocks privately as well as carry the ones they are issued rather than choosing something "better". Not every cop is a gun enthusiast, but not every isn't either. There are a lot of cops on gun forums and a lot of them own Glocks. Maybe they just aren't as professional as the people you speak of. Or maybe the tool that fits your general scenerio of operation is best for that application, whereas the Glock (and others like it) are best for a different application. Frankly I haven't a clue if that's true or not. I'm just trying to give the benefit of the doubt here since obviously you know a metric ****-ton more about running and gunning in a jungle environment than I do. Well actually that may be the idea... but the way the population keeps exploding, Glock has been fortunate enough not to run out of customers just yet.
  21. Yeah it's ugly as sin but it throws a hell of a boom down range.
  22. Pfft. Name something serious that you've ever used Loctite on. Oh. Wait. Missiles. Yeah... missiles. Forgot about that one.
  23. Wow... you know. For a moment there I almost forgot that most of us here are in the practice of carrying anywhere from six to nineteen rounds of pieces of explosives on our person day in and day out. Explosives designed to hurl tiny chunks of metal at hundreds of feet per second with the express purpose of punching holes through flesh and bone. And that for the sole sake of incapacitating a person who has taken it upon themselves to attack us and render bodily harm or death unto us. I mean... that's serious stuff! Almost as serious as keeping your ****ING FINGER OFF THE ****ING TRIGGER. Maybe we should carry something that wouldn't hurt us if we were negligent in some way. Like Nerf baseball bats.
  24. I'd call over to CCA and give them a chance to make it right if they were at fault in any way. JWP seems to be very conscious of providing good customer service, as do all of our vendors.
