WHAT: Middle Tennessee TGO Meet & Shoot WHERE: Spring Hill, TN (Owl Hollow Gun Club) We will all meet for lunch at 11:30 in Spring Hill at "Snappy Tomato" pizza. This is located in the Publix shopping center on Highway 31. Cost to shoot is $5.00 per person. You must supply your own eye and ear protection, paper targets and target hanging materials. Handgun pits require clothes pins or tape to hang targets from a wire stretched across the pits. Rifle lanes require a heavy duty staple gun to fix your targets to the backer boards. Recommend that you bring insect repellent. Weather dependent, also bring sunscreen and/or shoes that you don't mind getting muddy and dirty. This is an OUTDOOR range. Directions To Owl Hollow Gun Club Range is located approximately 10 miles south of downtown Franklin, Tennessee in Williamson county. From I-65 South/North take the Peytonsville Road exit, #61; go West about .7 mile to the red light at South US 431 (Lewisburg Pike); turn South (towards Lewisburg) onto US 431 and go approximately 6.5 miles to Owl Hollow Road; turn west onto Owl Hollow Road; the range is located approximately 1.1 miles on the left side of the road. That's pretty good news, but I'm not as worried about a natural shortage of the ammo as I am about an artificial shortage caused by politicians banning foreign import ammo as a way to kill the shooting sports. Right now you can't go to a TGO meet and swing a dead cat without hitting a Mosin Nagant. The rifles are cheap and the ammo is cheap. I'm just worried that if the Obamessiah weasels his way into the White House, we may see a weapons ban that will make the Clinton years look like paradise. I guess the ultimate answer is buy what you want and stock up on ammo.

I've been thinking about picking up a 5.45x39mm upper receiver for our other AR15 lower and using it as a way to shoot cheaply. Current prices for 1,000 rounds of 5.45mm are around $110 which is quite a bit cheaper than 9mm even. The problem is that I keep reading supposition on the Internet to the effect that IFOsama Bin Obama gets elected, a ban on importing foreign military ammunition is likely to be part of a revised AWB. If that happened... suddenly owning a carbine in a Soviet BLOC caliber wouldn't be as cost efficient. So, is this really something to be worried about or is it not very likely?

My wife has called about her permit at least three times in the past month. We are now at day 91, so I have sent a complaint by email to the Commissioner of the Dept of Safety and will be sending it by US Mail as well. When she called a month ago, she was told that everything was OK except they were waiting on her HCP class certificate to be scanned into the system. She was told that if we faxed a copy of the cert to them, they would go ahead and issue it. So we did. A few weeks passed, and nothing came in the mail. She called again and was informed that the girl who told her that (Jennifer) must have misplaced the faxed copy. She was told to fax it again and she would have it within 10 days. That was almost two weeks ago. Now we are past the 90 days during which the State MUST issue the permit by their own regulations. So she'll be calling again today.

So... you shot it without a rear sight of any sort. Was this just a function test or were you going shooting with the express intention of burning up ammo w/o any sort of accuracy?
