It was a good speech and I'm a supporter ... but I got bored of the one-liners and coy remarks about Obama. It was kind of like watching Mike Tyson work over the highschool bully. Sure, she kicked his ass but after a while you just want to see the heavyweight stop smacking around the punk ass kid. Y'know?

Smith & Wesson is already selling complete M&P 15R carbines and 15R uppers. Olympic Arms is the other player right now. Not sure of others. All mags are C-Products mags so far and performance out of the mags has been spotty. Those running regular 5.56 GI mags are often having problems with rounds nose-diving inside the mag tube.

Funny you should ask about the HCP. No. She called today and after giving them the 3rd Degree about having exceeded the 90 day window, they promised her that it was being issued today and [wait for it... wait for iiiit...] she would have it within 7-10 days. They have been promising her 7-10s for the past six weeks. I sent my nasty letter to the Commissioner via certified mail this afternoon and included a copy to my State Representative also by certified mail. As for the grips, no to that as well. Smith & Wesson sold me a set but then never charged my card or shipped any to me. The last time I talked to them about the grips, I was told that they were part of a special production run for a major distributor and were not available for sale separately nor would they be anytime soon. Smith & Wesson's repair service seems to be run by a completely different caliber of personnel than their parts and accessories department. The former gives great customer service. The latter seems to be unable to find their asses with both hands.

WHEN: Saturday, September 13th. Lunch @ 11:30am, Shooting @ 1:00pm. WHAT: Middle Tennessee TGO Meet & Shoot WHERE: Spring Hill, TN (Owl Hollow Gun Club) We will all meet for lunch at 11:30 in Spring Hill at "Snappy Tomato" pizza. This is located in the Publix shopping center on Highway 31. Cost to shoot is $5.00 per person. You must supply your own eye and ear protection, paper targets and target hanging materials. Handgun pits require clothes pins or tape to hang targets from a wire stretched across the pits. Rifle lanes require a heavy duty staple gun to fix your targets to the backer boards. Recommend that you bring insect repellent. Weather dependent, also bring sunscreen and/or shoes that you don't mind getting muddy and dirty. This is an OUTDOOR range. Directions To Owl Hollow Gun Club Range is located approximately 10 miles south of downtown Franklin, Tennessee in Williamson county. From I-65 South/North take the Peytonsville Road exit, #61; go West about .7 mile to the red light at South US 431 (Lewisburg Pike); turn South (towards Lewisburg) onto US 431 and go approximately 6.5 miles to Owl Hollow Road; turn west onto Owl Hollow Road; the range is located approximately 1.1 miles on the left side of the road. That's pretty good news, but I'm not as worried about a natural shortage of the ammo as I am about an artificial shortage caused by politicians banning foreign import ammo as a way to kill the shooting sports. Right now you can't go to a TGO meet and swing a dead cat without hitting a Mosin Nagant. The rifles are cheap and the ammo is cheap. I'm just worried that if the Obamessiah weasels his way into the White House, we may see a weapons ban that will make the Clinton years look like paradise. I guess the ultimate answer is buy what you want and stock up on ammo.

I've been thinking about picking up a 5.45x39mm upper receiver for our other AR15 lower and using it as a way to shoot cheaply. Current prices for 1,000 rounds of 5.45mm are around $110 which is quite a bit cheaper than 9mm even. The problem is that I keep reading supposition on the Internet to the effect that IFOsama Bin Obama gets elected, a ban on importing foreign military ammunition is likely to be part of a revised AWB. If that happened... suddenly owning a carbine in a Soviet BLOC caliber wouldn't be as cost efficient. So, is this really something to be worried about or is it not very likely?
