  1. They have a notice on their web site about this. It's a little thing called Hurricane Ike and the fact that Comp-Tac is in Texas.
  2. At the risk of sounding like Bill Clinton, it depends on the definition of the word and the type of .223 round that we're talking about. But typically, no.
  3. I typically order 100 or so North Carolina Justice Dept targets from www.letargets.com and just use them when I go to the range. Lately I've been burning up some USPSA targets that I ordered from LE Targets.
  4. Random observations... -- Carbines are always preferred over handguns for their higher muzzle velocities and imparted kinetic energy. -- The .223 / 5.56 round is a good indoor round as it loses quite a bit of velocity when it hits intermediate barriers like drywall, insulation, wood, and other common construction materials. This means collateral damage is somewhat mitigated. -- It's effectiveness in the 50-200yd range out of doors is fairly well substantiated.
  5. And yet another anecdotal reminder to consider buying two of whatever you carry every day. When one is taken for evidence during a justified shooting, you have your backup and it's the same system you're already [hopefully] familiar with.
  6. That's nice work. Congrats!
  7. PM me a price on both an IWB and an OWB please. Right-hand carry. Thanks!
  8. I need to buy some "off the radar" ammo quick! And I agree 200% with your post.
  9. I'd consider an OWB holster for T&E also. I've been casually searching for a nice leather OWB for my Glock.
  10. I think I'm pretty serious about my gear. Hook me up with a nice Brommeland for my Glock 19 and I'll gladly field test it and post my thoughts. It will be going up against my VM2 for my 1911 and my MTAC for my Glock.
  11. When you clean it, make sure the gas tube is staked properly on the BCG. Most Bushmasters aren't. This will save you some heartache down the road. I abandoned the quick-release and run with QD swivels on mine. This is the standard config recommended by many of the pros over on M4C. So-called Ranger Loops on your mags will help with that. Paracord and duct tape or the Magpul plastic versions will work. Paracord and tape are cheap but the Magpul stuff will undoubtedly look better longer if you care about that.
  12. Sorry to hear it, glad he's ok. Part of having a son. This is probably the first of a few broken bones, especially if he plays sports. Just keep him comfortable and remind him that the little girls love war stories.
  13. This **** really cracks me up every time the subject comes around. I don't see much chance of the government actually instituting a reclamation policy (or confiscation for you Reynolds Wrap wearers) in this country. The idea that they would go door to door and confiscate each and every firearm is about as absurd as the idea that tomorrow they might search out everyone who has bought a Zippo and pack of rolling papers in the past 30 days and search their home for marijuana. And for the sake of argument, let's assume that they do issue a complete ban on private ownership of certain (or all) firearms. The likely scenario is that you would have a certain number of days to comply and forfeit the contraband items, after which time you could be charged with felony possession of restricted firearms if found to have them. That means you might skate by with them hidden in your house or buried in PVC pipe in your back yard but those firearms would never be able to see the light of day ever again. So now you have a bunch of AR lowers that you can't use, that you can't sell and that are only worth money on the black market ... which makes you guilty of felonious trafficking. Good job! If that scenario scares you, maybe you guys should consider voting for the candidates at local, State and Federal levels that aren't huge anti-gun bigots. People like Osama bin Obama should be kept out of power at all cost. Even if that means abandoning your wishful 3rd party dreaming and selling your soul to the GOP ticket. This post was brought to you by Conspiracy Cat. Remember, he's not a fringe lunatic, you're just too mainstream!

    M&P9c For CCW?

Lots of people using the MTAC here and it's pretty highly recommended. Worth doing a search for threads on it.

    M&P9c For CCW?

You're a little bigger than I am, but I have carried the M&P 40c (same size) without problems IWB. You should be fine provided you get a good holster and a good sturdy gun belt.
  17. This hasn't been a priority for me so it took a while to get around to doing this. Last week I swapped in a stainless non-captured guide rod and 13# recoil spring from Speed Shooter Specialties. This combination made the M&P 9L function perfectly on the range yesterday. It was tight, controllable and never experienced a failure to eject. The only problem we had, completely unrelated, was when a mag follower got hung up inside the mag tube and caused a cluster-F of rounds inside the magazine. I will take the mags apart the next time I clean the gun and run a brass brush down into them and knock out any roughness that might be there. Next up for the weapon are some better sights. Probably a set of Bowie Tactical / Ameriglo tritium sights in their Operator cut. I may end up buying another 4-inch .40SW M&P again later and a compact 9mm for my wife. My mind will be better made up the more time I get with the 9L. I think Smith and Wesson may have gotten most of their kinks worked out by now.

  19. Sorry I'm late to the game but it was great meeting the new folks today. Tower, it was a pleasure and I look forward to shooting with you again sometime. Maybe we'll make it east for one of your hometown shoots one of these days! Hahahah! That's awesome stuff right there!
  20. As an update, my wife received hers yesterday (Friday, Sept 12) as well. So it took almost 100 days for hers to arrive.
  21. I own an MTAC for every one of the guns that I might ever conceivably carry. I cannot recommend this holster strongly enough. I also own a Milt Sparks VM2 for my Wilson and love that holster. I just hate the long wait time and hate the unrealistic prices that they get marked up for on eBay. That said, it's a great holster. I may order one for my Glock 19 sooner or later. In the past I owned K&D holsters for both of my M&Ps. Great holsters also. Wait time isn't as bad as that from Milt Sparks but still top notch. I'd be willing to try a Brommeland [sp?] for my Glock if JWP wants to hook me up with one.
  22. I was waiting for that.
  23. PirateQui, you are more than welcome to use the stapler and duct tape we will have with us. My wife and I will still be going and we're bringing HornetHandler and his wife along as well. I haven't had a chance to shoot in nearly two months so I'm not going to miss this just because gas prices are a little higher today than they were yesterday. See you all in a few hours! We'll be in my black Ford F250 Diesel (DIESEL! Who was complaining about gas prices now? lol).
  24. Sounds like one of my meats [sic] for sure.
