Note to the Original Poster... I had to visit the link, click the Send To Printer option and then copy and paste the text from their printer-friendly version in order to fix the first post in this thread. Seems that if you just copy and paste from their web site version, it really hoses things up. Not a big deal but just wanted to let you know what would work better for you (and us) in the future.

One of our members pointed out to me that the former name of this particular forum (Concealed Carry and Self Defense) showed an obvious bias toward concealment and did not recognize that the State of Tennessee currently allows open carry with permit. While I am not an advocate of open carry, the fact remains that it is permissible so long as you have a current valid Tennessee Handgun Carry Permit. Rather than create an entirely new forum devoted to Open Carry, I have renamed this forum to simply be the Handgun Carry and Self Defense forum. One size fits most.

Just so you know, I'm steadily losing patience with you on this matter. Allow me to clarify and then it would be wise for you to drop off of my radar for a while. My statement was in reply to your whining via private message about whether anyone else had been disciplined for their involvement in your thread that turned to crap. I told you that it was none of your concern and that you needed to worry about yourself; that I would take care of the other people involved. You seem to still be preoccupied with concerns about everyone else. You need to focus on what you do and leave everyone else to me and the moderators. That's all I am going to say on this subject. If you persist, I will revoke your privilege to be here and put you out of my misery. Thanks.

It's just something we will have to deal with until we can afford to upgrade to a dedicated server. Our current arrangement puts us on a virtual private server, shared with God only knows who. They probably aren't happy with the lags either as I know we generate quite a bit of traffic on that server. Sorry.

There have been no assurances made from the Staff. Perhaps what you meant to say was that you are assuring us that you won't be trolling for reactions from the other members. If this thread stays on an even keel, I'll let it stay. If it goes the way the other one did, it will be locked down and some people are going to get shown to the door. Fair warning.

This thread appears to have far outlived whatever redeeming qualities it may have had originally. I'm not about to spend the hour it would take to sort through eight pages worth of nonsense from new members and veteran members alike just to figure out where it went wrong or who caused it to happen. Rather let me just say this: Everyone needs to revisit our Code of Conduct and read up on what is considered acceptable behavior for our members. Everyone is expected to treat each other with mutual respect. Sadly I'm not seeing much of that here from either new members of TGO or from those who have been with us for much longer. New people, be warned. If you're here just to troll for reactions and incite discord, you will be removed from the community. Veteran members, you are held to an even higher standard. You know what the rules are. Attacking people rather than issues is not and won't ever be tolerated. You are just as vulnerable to being shown to the door for rude behavior as a new person is. Play nice!

I think it's time for an Obama thread mega-merge.

I would think that a thread in the Lounge area might be suitable. Just be sure to state what group the mission trip is affiliated with (i.e. what church, what mission organization, etc.) and what the focus or purpose of the trip is. Most organized mission trip groups already have a "mission statement" prepared for people to use when they are soliciting support for it. That would be a good start.

That's why everyone needs to get off their asses during elections and VOTE the anti-gun politicrats out of office. Conservatives lost the '08 Presidential elections; Liberals didn't win it.

By way of an update to this thread... A few hundred rounds and a pair of Warren Tactical dot-on-dot night sights later, and the M&P 40 has quickly become as much of a favorite of mine as my Glock 19 is. It has been 100% reliable out of the box and is a smooth, straight, easily predictable shooter. I was doing rapid double-tap drills with it today and grouping all of my shots within an 8" section at 15 yds. It is easily the smoothest recoiling .40SW that I have ever fired. I'm very, very pleased with it.

Gentlemen, I feel lead to remind everyone that we should stick to debating the issues and not attacking each other. So far only a few posts have carried a slight tinge of personal attack but nothing worth me or the moderators getting worked up over. Let's keep it that way and treat each other with tact and decorum.

My wife's co-worker is on one of the local school boards. The co-workers told her that the schools around here are barely able to keep the temperature inside within 20 degrees of the temperature outside. Single digit temps outside = 20's inside. That's pretty damn cold. Apparently many of the older schools just don't have adequate heating or insulation. Couple this with the security risks associated with letting kids wear parkas and such indoors (many schools won't allow that for fear of students smuggling weapons) and you've got a pretty good reason to cancel classes I guess.
