paying taxes is nor required by our Constitution
TGO David replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Per the Code of Conduct : Rule #5 this thread is closed. I am not nor will I be sucked into some farcical debate over whether or not a Federal Income Tax is legal. The fact of the matter is that countless court cases have sided with the Federal Government on this issue and judgments made against tax evaders have born out that taxes shall be paid or there will be consequences. Frankly, it is my opinion that regardless of whether you agree how your money is being spent by the Government, it is still your patriotic civic duty to pay taxes if you earn wages. Each of us in some way benefits from projects that tax dollars have funded partially or in full. Whether it be something as simple as driving on a public roadway, attending a public school, using the US Postal Service or indirectly benefiting from the arrest of known criminals by your local and/or Federal law enforcement officers, or the continual protection afforded us by our men and women in the Armed Forces. Anyone who refuses to pay unto Cesar what is Cesar's cannot consider themselves a citizen. Patriot in your own mind, perhaps, but not a citizen. I would recommend that the original poster consult with a competent attorney and financial adviser at his earliest convenience. He, and anyone else who may be engaging in similar practices, will eventually need legal representation. Regardless, TGO is not the place to discuss illegal activities. There are plenty of fringe forums for that sort of thing. -

Closing this thread. Explanation follows. -
I'll rat you out if you try to use that as a referral!

I've lost count of the number of times that's been posted.

The 1911 is one of the easiest full-size automatics to conceal. As others have said, a good holster is important. I carry my 1911 in a Milt Sparks Versa-Max II (VM2) inside the waistband holster, or a Comp-Tac MTAC inside the waistband holster. Either would work fine for you. However, of paramount importance is your gun belt. Just any old leather belt isn't going to cut it. You need something purpose built for carrying and properly distributing the weight of your firearm, holster, spare mag, mag carrier, etc. It doesn't have to look like Batman's utility belt or even a police officer's carry rig. Many look just like the brown leather jeans belt you probably already own. I recommend www.thebeltman.net to anyone who will listen. Many TGO members have bought from him also and the reviews are always very positive. I suggest that you start there and then branch out to other vendors if you don't find something that you like. Again, do not underestimate the importance of a good, sturdy belt. It is what will make or break the comfort and concealability of whatever carry device you choose. The leather belts you buy in clothing stores are 99.9999% never thick enough or sturdy enough to both properly distribute the weight of your gear around the circumference of your hips, nor are they strong enough to pull your holster and firearm in tight enough to your body to keep them from protruding and being easily spotted beneath your cover garments.

Editing the thread title. We've yet to put on an official TGO event so these things are always organized as get togethers. There is a certain amount of liability presumed when something is advertised as a TGO event. Thanks.

Will you defend the 2nd when the time comes?

Then, if a law has been passed making gun ownership a criminal offense, you will be a criminal. -
John, Rabbi has been blacklisted here for a reason. I'd appreciate it if you would dispense with the thinly veiled references to his shop. If you won't comply willingly, I'll remove you from the site the same as I did him. For what it's worth, a Glock certified armorer (Todd @ CIS) has already replied to the original poster it would seem. Thanks.

I think this thread has run it's course. If the representatives from Uselton's gun shop wish to start another thread to address the rampant consumer discontent or perhaps more importantly address the hugely anti-private gun sales stance that Rick is on the record as taking, then I'll make sure that the moderators watch it closely and try to make sure people play nice. Thread closed.

My take on this is that 90% of the 10% who say they'll fight to the end, won't. -
Folks, just a gentle reminder: Facts, not personal attacks. Attacking issues is OK. Attacking the person isn't. Thanks.

FYI... I received an email this morning from someone purporting to be Rick Uselton. I will copy the contents of that email: I would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that, per the rules and regulations of the forum and the initial agreement that every new member of TGO must affirm their compliance with before gaining access to the forum, that the opinions posted herein are those of the person posting them and not necessarily those of TGO, the Staff or the Ownership. We engage in very little "censorship" here and encourage free thought and free discussion of the issues. I'm not sure if the person claiming to be Rick Uselton wants us to begin censoring things that pertain to him, but I of course would refuse to do that so long as the statements are factual and being made in good faith. This could get interesting.

Very interesting. What was that quote about throwing off the chains of tyranny, again?

That's ok. I get paid daily to keep 19 year old douchebags out of other people's networks.

I back up my irreplaceable items like photos, tax returns, etc. onto optical media and store those in my safe and/or safety deposit box at the bank. But as an IT consultant / small business owner, yes I pretty much have my entire livelihood spread across several machines in my home office. Hence the routine backups.
-
I use Acronis True Image Home Edition and an external drive to backup my stuff on a semi-daily basis and once a month do another backup to a second external drive that is kept in my safe. Cheap insurance.

Sadly the author makes quite a few good points before handing it over to Wolin's leftist ideas in the second half. The truth of matters has always existed somewhere in the middle. This case is no different.

It's globally frickin' cold outside here today. I sure could use some of that warming that Al Gore keeps raving about.

You've already figured out who can read the detailed explanation of the feedback. It's there for the buyer and the seller, and also the TGO staff. I am not sure how it would add any value to make that available to the public at large, but am willing to entertain the idea if someone can make a persuasive argument for it. In my mind, the short eBay style feedback is all that is really essential for the shopper.

Cheap, effective, easy to do... 1. Unload the weapon. 2. Store ammo completely away from weapon. 3. Ensure that the weapon is still clear before proceeding. 4. With a clear chamber but the weapon cocked and ready to fire, have her grip the weapon as though she were preparing to fire. Aim, trigger finger placement, etc. all need to be exactly as ready to fire. 5. Balance a coin flatly on the front sight blade. 6. Have her pull the trigger completely through and concentrate on NOT disturbing the coin. It shouldn't fall off until the trigger breaks and the EMPTY gun dry fires. If the coin falls before she completes the trigger pull, she tries again. She keeps trying until she gets to where she can break the trigger without disturbing the coin. It's a fun game, it teaches good trigger discipline, and costs nothing so long as you make SURE that the weapon is unloaded. Otherwise you may end up needing a new television, wall, dog, door, microwave, kidney, etc. Did I mention that you need to make sure it's unloaded?

Well, we already limit it so that you must have been here 30 days and made at least 50 posts before you can use the classifieds. I'm not sure I want to make it any more difficult for new folks to use that feature.
-
Guys, all of you are presuming that there is a way to remove the Commit to Buy option from the classifieds. There is not. Committing to buy an item is a hard-coded step in the buying/selling process. I've searched the classified software support forum and there are several people who have requested that it be something we can turn on or off, but so far it has not been turned into a configurable item. As I have said before, the classifieds here are just a convenience that we try to provide our established members. The primary mission of TGO is not to be a trading post. I'm sorry if this seems like I'm being inflexible, but the bottom line is that right now we just have to deal with the circumstances as they exist. As soon as the Commit to Buy feature is made optional, we'll do away with it.

<hater> Over engineered and over priced. </hater> Nice gun. It should serve you well for years to come; unless you trade it off for two equally reliable Glocks.
-
I've got more updates to make tomorrow. Sorry.
-
You know, it really chaps my butt that the importance of the feedback system is being downplayed when so many people clamored for it not too long ago. It's probably THE reason why we spent the money to go with the classifieds software. How about if when a person commits to buy and then reneges on the deal, we ban the sorry SOB for wasting everyone's time? If you guys are up for that, I'll set up a procedure for it.
