DUDE. I'm never riding with you to another meeting ever again.

You know, I sort of feel bad every time I post this about Cross-Breed holsters since the guy strongly advertises himself as being a Christian-owned small business and that automatically makes you want to be on the guy's side and all that... But Cross-Breed holsters just strike me as being substandard in appearance and construction quality. Granted, looks don't mean everything but when I spend money on a holster, I want it to look like a professionally produced piece of kit. I don't want it to look like some guy molded a piece of kydex over a tree stump using a hair dryer, and I want the leather to look nice and sturdy. I know plenty of people who have them and who swear by them. BNagashima even has one that he re-molded for another handgun and he loves it. But seriously, the holster had so much kydex material that he was able to heat it up himself and RE-MOLD it from something for one handgun to something for another handgun entirely. Maybe I'm looking at it all wrong. Maybe that's a good thing since you get maximum return on your investment when you can take a Keltec P3AT holster and remold it to hold your Desert Eagle .50 Cal. (slight exaggeration there) Anyway, just my completely inconsequential thoughts on that matter and meant in no way as a slam on anyone who owns a Cross-Breed holster since you guys are clearly laughing all the way to the bank while I have to order new kydex shells for my MTAC holsters from time to time.

I think I may go just to see what the public attitude is now that Mein Furher has assumed control of the government. It should be entertaining.

Strick is pretty out in the open about his sick-o-ness but Musicman tries to hide it when he's around respectable company. I've been trying really hard to let the people in our mutual business circle know that he's a peepee-toucher, but no one listens.
-
Congrats; you chose a very good gun. You asked about CCW holsters and I am on record here as strongly advocating the Comp-Tac MTAC (Minotaur) kydex-leather hybrid holsters. They are top quality and, perhaps just as importantly, they ship lighting fast so you'll have your gear in a miniscule fraction of the time that it takes to get a top quality full-leather carry rig. www.comp-tac.com I'm carrying my Glock 19 (your 23's 9mm cousin) in my MTAC right now as I sit here typing this on my laptop in the neighborhood Starbucks. None of the liberal hand wringers have a clue.

Good for you, Mikey. That was an excellent rebuttal and I'm sure it stands a pretty good chance of getting ignored by Corker's office... but kudos to you for sticking it straight in his posterior.

Well you know, people wanted "change" so they're getting it.

What I'm seeing out of that Defensive Carry link is "server lag" which is not entirely uncommon on a shared virtual server arrangement. We have that here from time to time also.
-
Anyone else wonder what Musicman's web browser history file looks like?
-
Indeed. That's definitely a good option.

Nope... it needs to stay closed. There are a lot of other forums where people can discuss random TEOTWAWKI theories like this. None of them have much credibility, which is exactly why we're not allowing stuff like this here. Sorry.

I'm going to buck the trend here and say that I'm really not crazy about it. It's pretty bland and doesn't really grab the eye. The format is extremely vanilla and could just as easily be a site for a shop selling screen doors, save for the pictures at the top of the page. A quick glance at the site of the web developer (Revenue whatever...) and it's clear that even their own web site is pretty bland. Now here's the tricky part because what I'm going to say next is going to sound like I've got an agenda. Truth is, I don't. I just hate to see a top notch gun shop like yours get saddled with a less than stellar web site because the web site I'm looking at there is truly not indicative of the sort of consumer "experience" that you guys are well known for providing. If you'd like, I can put you in touch with a group that does do some outstanding design work. I worked with them for about 10 years and they are who I refer people to anytime it's a project that I can't handle personally or can't devote ample time to. Their work is just lightyears beyond what I'm seeing on that demo site and more in keeping with the sort of image that I think you want to present to your customers and potential customers.

http://www.opticsplanet.net/streamlight-69903-mag-tube-rail-tl-tactical-flashlight.html That is the clamp style you're probably talking about. I use this to mount a Streamlight TLR-1 LED light on my Mossberg SPX and have had no problems out of it. Cheap and effective.

That's sad news. One of the first "custom" holsters I ever bought for myself was an Alessi that I used to tote a .40SW HK USP. It was my first taste of what nice gun leather was supposed to be like.

The 1911 will be a good gun and S&W has a warranty policy that's almost impossible to beat. But I'd probably choose a polymer striker-fired automatic if I was just looking for a "range whore" that I wanted to be able to beat on for years and years to come. That's not saying that the 1911 couldn't hold up to it. It could and probably would. But a Glock, XD or Smith & Wesson M&P would probably be better choices. You're going to get two dozen different suggestions from people here because everyone's got their own opinion and own preference. Really this decision needs to be yours and needs to be based on some firing time with as many different makes and models as you can put your hands on before you commit to buying one. That way you can choose what feels best and works best for you rather than what some random stranger on the Internet suggested. That said, I'd look at the new Smith & Wesson M&P 45 in the 4-inch mid sized version. Several reputable trainers and gun bloggers have reviewed them recently (Hilton Yam, for starters) and they all had really good things to say about it. One of these is on my short list of firearms to buy in the near future and that's coming from a guy who owns a high-end 1911, has owned a lot of XDs and still owns several Glocks and M&Ps. I'm not much of a brand loyalist and lost my appetite for Kool Aid a long time ago, so anymore I just go for the platforms that give the best performance at the best price. So far the M&P line isn't disappointing me.

Let's make sure that we keep this thread work-safe since some of these motivational posters and such can be off-color. We have a similar thread in the Ready Room forum (for subscribing members) and there are some posts in it that wouldn't be appropriate for a workplace or for viewing at home in front of family. Thanks.

The three of us who have responded in this thread are all using Comast cable internet. It may have been a hiccup on whatever leg of Comcast's network that you're on.

I removed the second photo from this post as it was not appropriate for general audiences here on TGO. Keep it PG.

But according to a recent thread of yours, you don't pay taxes. So you're not paying for anything.

Instantaneous here.

I'm finding that many of the people who are rallying together under the 10th Amendment aren't very good students of history. Do any of you realize why the 10th Amendment was put into place and what else was going on in our country at that time? It's rather insightful. And it's pretty clear that this recent push to rally together beneath it is taking the whole thing out of context. But don't let that stop you guys.

Common wear items like springs and firing pins, I suppose. Each make/model has it's own peculiarities so there would be more to recommend based on what the firearms in question are.
-
Excellent! I think I've fondled a TRP just about every time I've visited Joe's shop. I keep being drawn to your gun's photo negative, though. One day... one day.

So in other words, the Commercial Appeal hopes that this will encourage profiling. Fine. My new profile for the editorial staff of the CA is that they are douchebags.
