  1. Nice! Be sure to check the gas key on the bolt carrier group and make sure that the screws are properly staked. That's an area that Bushmaster is notorious for slacking in. I'd also check and make sure that the buffer tube castle nut is properly staked while you're at it. Have seen several instances of neither being the case. Enjoy the new rifle.
  2. I can see where if she pressed the release as if it were a button (with her finger tip) how she could have transitioned into stabbing the trigger also. Again, it can happen with any holster. The SERPA design is a pretty natural, instinctive one if you're used to indexing your finger properly as you draw. Back to the original topic, as someone else stated, the SERPA holster rides closer to your body when you use the belt mounting point rather than the paddle. The paddle definitely juts the holster out a bit.
  3. The lady in question clearly got her finger into the trigger guard after it cleared the holster. You could do that with any holster if you don't keep your finger indexed on the slide and away from the trigger during draw or reholstering.
  4. You should have known better than this since you're quite active over there. Frankly, I'm getting a bit tired of it. Thanks.
  5. Nate, you know from being over at Rabbi's forum that John isn't very high on my list of favorite people. I'd appreciate that you not plug him on TGO. Thanks.
  6. My BUG is probably more concealed and yet easily accessible than my primary. I carry a S&W J-Frame revolver inside my front hip pocket.
  7. "I don't condone what he did, but it's bringing to light the frustrations between the community and the police," said Uhuru Movement member Kihad Deen. "This gives people a chance to speak their minds." ... So basically this idiot is condoning what he did. Ah, the joys of relativism.
  8. Why carry a firearm for self defense in the first place, then? Got a spare tire in your car or truck? When your firearm fails at the worst possible moment, you will quite literally have the rest of your life to worry about it. The problem is, the rest of your life at that time may only be measured in seconds. And where does that leave your wife / kids / family / friends who might now be left to fend for themselves against whoever just did you in? Your willingness to lay down in the dirt and die seems somewhat contradictory to some of the other statements you made in this post. God helps those who help themselves. If they live long enough to take advantage of it, of course. You're dead, so now your wife has to fend off the guy who just killed you. But he might decide to have a little fun with her first. And then your kids.Let me be clear; you might end up dying anyway in the effort to defend your family. But why not stack the deck in your favor and take the bastard down with you? This is all entirely your prerogative and I'll leave you alone about it after this post. I do think that it's a bit silly for you to even be carrying a gun. Maybe you should send your wife through a class and let her protect you instead.Edited to add: Listen, I realize that some of what I said in this post may be conceived as being a bit harsh, but let's be men here and talk about this frankly. We aren't discussing your golf handicap or the weather. We're talking about life and death. Not just yours, but the lives (and perhaps deaths) of your loved ones. We're talking about your decision to go armed to protect yourself and them against some really evil **** that stalks the unaware in this world. Having a realistic assessment of this fundamental truth and preparing yourself to deal with it should the situation arise is not being paranoid. It's called being prepared. You're halfway there since you have undertaken it to arm yourself. I encourage you... no, I implore you... to consider all of the angles before carelessly dismissing the use of a backup weapon as the domain of police officers and soldiers. That sort of thinking is what the Leftists use to argue against civilian gun ownership in the first place. So, if I've offended you in this post... good; that means I got your attention. That's all I am trying to do. I'm not trying to offend you for the sake of making a random stranger mad. I'm just trying to get you to reconsider some of the narrow-minded and completely contradictory statements that you made. Good luck and stay safe.
  9. Again, those who say they see no need for a BUG really should consider taking at least one good instructor led defensive handgun class. Even barring an equipment failure, you may find that it is faster to resort to your BUG than reload; you may suffer a debilitating injury or find yourself in a position physically where accessing your primary weapon is impossible; or you may need to quickly arm a companion to help in the fight. There are plenty of reasons to carry a BUG.
  10. Wow... looking at a few of those pictures I can see just how good the married life has been. I need to eat a damn salad!
  11. Understood and thank you for the correction.
  12. I hope everyone else here realizes that it is not a smart idea to confess to a criminal offense on the Internet like this. Carrying without a HCP can earn a person a serious amount of jail time and a mark on their record that very likely will not go away without a very expensive fight. Carrying without a permit is a sure fire way to forever lose your right to get a permit. Furthermore, we do have rules here and I suggest that the Original Poster read them again and pay particular attention to Rule #5 [link] where we strictly forbid discussion of illegal activities. This sort of thing is not kosher and it gives the law abiding HCP holding community a black eye. I am appalled and extremely embarrassed by the fact that it was admitted to by one of TGO's members, especially in this day and age when so many media outlets are salivating at the chance to destroy our 2nd Amendment Rights. Frankly, my first inclination is to permanently ban Mr. I Am Wood from TGO for having such careless disregard for the integrity of the TGO community. I'm going to have to discuss this some with the rest of the moderators to make sure that I'm not off track.
  13. Excellent! I can't tell you how much better life is when your spouse enjoys the things you enjoy and vice versa. Having a wife that likes to go shooting with me is just one of the many ways that I feel blessed.
  14. All it took was attending a good defensive handgun class for me to see why thinking like that could get me killed. I'd recommend you do the same.
  15. Unfortunately most of the Flexifit hats that I have seen, even if they claim to be unstructured, look like structured hats. They also don't fit as wide a range of head sizes as the adjustable hats do. I doubt we'll be pursuing that style anytime soon. Sorry.
  16. You're talking about the T-shirt right? Soon. Very soon.
  17. These are the pre-production samples that I received today. The hats look great in person and I've made a few changes to improve them even further: Enlarged the logo so that it uses more of the front area Replaced Tennessee Gun Owners with the website address On these samples, the embroiderer put the website address on the backs over the "hoop" where the adjustment strap is. While it was a good idea in theory, in practice it yielded text that was difficult to read. So I went back to the previous design concept with the URL beneath the logo. The hats are unstructured sandwich-bill hats stitched with contrasting color highlights. The adjustment strap is a sturdy velcro-backed canvas strap with a band of the highlight color sewn onto them. They look sharp if I do say so myself. If all goes well, I will have about 20 of each of the following color combinations with us this Saturday (March 28th) at the Hero Gear Customer Appreciation Sale. Joe has graciously allowed us to come down and set up a small table on Saturday so that we can meet folks, talk about the TGO site and offer up some swag for sale. Color combinations are: Black with tan highlights Olive Drab with black highlights Light Pink with white highlights Here are a few more pictures of the sample hats... Pricing has not been finalized yet but they will easily be under $20 and probably discounted a bit at the Hero Gear sale just to help get the ball rolling. Once this batch is gone, we will be making more available for purchase online but there may be a 2-3 week delay. If you want a hat now you should make an effort to attend the Hero Gear sale. We'll see you there.
  18. I've probably got a pretty good case there, don't I? She admitted to hitting me in front of the whole class. See... that's why screen names are dumb.
  19. Not to turn this into an M&P versus Glock debate, but I have both and see places for both. The M&P is a lot more ergonomic and addresses some issues that I've long had with Glocks. Specifically: Glock lack of ambidextrous controls and lack of way to disassemble the firearm without having to pull the trigger. So far I am extremely impressed with the M&P's evolution over the past few years. I owned three of them right when they came out (9mm Compact, .40SW compact and .40SW) and currently own another full-sized .40SW. The early production runs had some issues. The later production runs seem to be doing much better. If I had to absolutely choose between one or the other... I'd probably choose the M&P and probably do it in .40SW just like the one I presently own. The ergos alone make it more adaptable to whomever is shooting it. I love my Glocks, but the M&P has a lot going for it. If it's still going strong for me another 1,000 rounds from now, I'll be completely sold on it.
  20. They are OK for quick cleaning but I prefer a patches, bore brush and rod for thorough cleaning.
  21. A year ago, my rationale was that if I got her involved in shooting she wouldn't mind so much when I wanted to buy new guns. Then she started wanting guns of her own.
  22. S&W honors the warranty for the life of the firearm, not the life of the buyer. You're good to go.
  23. Yeah, the class was much more bearable without Eddie there making me look bad. My wife's combat reload does rock. I'm going to introduce her to USPSA gaming so that she'll develop the same bad habits that I've got.
