  1. I had a YHM Phantom on my Bushmaster. The handguard was probably more solid than the rifle itself.
  2. I'm thinking about something like this for you guys with huge noggins...
  3. To be fair, I did first try wrapping the gun in a few heavy plastic bags and leaving it in the holster overnight. It didn't stretch the holster much at all. That's when I moved on to Plan B. The silicone spray worked like magic, but I do encourage everyone to heed the disclaimer. If you can't risk damaging a $50-60 holster then don't try it at home.
  4. Most trigger jobs on other handguns are going for anywhere from $75 - $100 based on what I have seen online. Have you checked on any of the Ruger forums to see if there are reputable gunsmiths offering this service for the SR9? For example, on the Smith & Wesson M&P forums two very well known gunsmiths (Dan Burwell and David Bowie) provide this among other services for M&P owners and they have a very well documented success record with the forum members. I'd be surprised to find that there isn't a well known Ruger gunsmith doing the same for SR9 handguns. Also, I'd be sure to check with Ruger and see if a trigger job will void any part (or all) of your handgun's warranty.
  5. I'm curious as to why you didn't speak up when you heard someone comment about your handgun in the first place, and politely tell them something along the lines of "Why, yes I sure do. I'm a Tennessee handgun carry permit holder, in fact. Did you know that one of these ZLB facilities was the site of a violent crime a while back? I'm surprised you aren't carrying something for your protection either." At least it would have given them something to think about.
  6. Yep. The ones you have will be self-destructing soon. Cool. Just FYI, the inventory that Joe has right now is going to be the last of the HG produced TGO merchandise. He and I spoke about this a few weeks ago and he agreed that it is best for TGO to bring production of these goods back under our control so that we can best manage the brand. We'll likely be making the TGO logo'd goods available not only online but also to all of our Authorized Vendors who wish to sell them in their shops. None of this should be taken as a parting of ways with Hero Gear as it couldn't be any further from the truth. Joe was kind enough to have the original products produced and sold them in his shop and I'll always be grateful for that. However, as TGO is now operating as a business and as we do have other advertising vendors here besides Hero Gear, it is only fair to everyone to allow all comers the opportunity to sell the TGO Gear if they want. But like I said, we're going to have them available here online as well.
  7. Yep, wearing it daily is the best way. This is the faster way.

We're probably being blocked by a few ISPs still. I've made some DNS changes that will (eventually) fix this but in the meantime I'll be manually validating accounts.
  9. About the same as the hat sales went. I've got quite a few of all left.
  10. While we're chewing the fat... a few days ago I got to fondle a complete Vang Comp custom job Remington 870. Freakin sweet doesn't even cover how awesome it looked and felt.

    See my last reply.
  12. They are on hold while we revise part of the graphic. The original draft would have involved more than 8 colors which would have made them extremely cost prohibitive. We're seeing if we can scale it back and utilize half-tones. Frankly, whether or not the t-shirt idea even sees the light of day depends on how well people carry through on their statements about wanting to buy TGO hats as soon as we put those up for sale. I'm processing some photos of them right now and hope to have them listed for sale tomorrow.

What is the domain portion of your email address? (i.e. aol.com comcast.net bellsouth.net)
  14. I was going to mention Todd @ CIS as a contact or someone who would have the info you're looking for... but I see that he already responded.
  15. I thought I'd mention this since I haven't seen it specifically discussed here before: DISCLAIMER: I am not the originator of this idea by any stretch of the imagination. It's one of the older tricks in the books. I also do NOT recommend that you do this to custom made, high-end holster. I would only advocate doing this to a readily available mass produced leather holster from the likes of Galco, Don Hume, Bianchi, DeSantis, etc. Now with that out of the way... I recently purchased a DeSantis Speed Scabbard leather outside the waistband holster for my Smith & Wesson M&P .40SW handgun. I wasn't looking for top quality leather; I was just looking for something to get the job done on those rare occasions when I actually want to carry visibly or want to carry OWB but under a cover garment of some sort. As is the case with almost any mass produced holster, the fit of the leather on the firearm was incredibly tight. Too tight to provide the sort of fast, smooth draw that I prefer with a holster. In fact, it was tight to the point that I would have considered it to be unsafe for carry use because of the drag on draw and the binding on re-holstering. So I turned to an old trick that my grandfather showed me years ago. Using the unloaded handgun wrapped a few times in a plastic shopping bag, I took an aerosol spray can of silicone lubricant (available at any hardware or autoparts store), saturated the inside of the holster, and then crammed the unloaded bag-wrapped handgun into the holster and let it sit for a while. An hour or so will usually suffice, but leaving it over night is even better. After letting it sit for a while, I withdrew the firearm, sprayed more silicone lubricant inside the holster and then began holstering and unholstering the wrapped firearm over and over again. I did this for maybe a dozen or more times and then left it holstered for a bit longer. The end result is a holster that has very little drag when drawing and is now a little better molded to my specific firearm. And since the Speed Scabbard has a retention adjustment screw, I can dial in just enough "snap" for positive retention when I reholster the firearm. It's an easy way to speed up the breaking in process on a cheap leather holster and might be helpful to someone else here who wants a little smoother draw from theirs. Again, I wouldn't recommend doing this to a custom made top-shelf holster. The craftsmen responsible for making those typically produce holsters that do not need this sort of breaking in and usually recommend against doing anything like this.
  16. It made me laugh.
  17. I'm still a bit annoyed that they aren't making the 24/7 sights for the M&P with the rear tritium insert. Folks, I recently picked up an MGW sight tool for the Glock and for the M&P family of handguns. The tools make all the difference in getting sights installed or removed without tons of trouble. We had zero problems getting Brian's sights installed and I think it took all of about 5 minutes to do the rear sights. I'd be happy to provide this service to others as well, and will probably pick up a tool for the Springfield XD family soon. I'm way cheaper than a gunsmith.
  18. I'll add a forum-wide announcement about how to really put the search feature to use. There are some other tricks that I can explain that might help some people.
  19. Wow. Most of you seem to be forgetting that you were new to forums at one point also. And likewise you are forgetting that when you first applied for your HCP you were probably really anxious and excited about it too. Both of these very basic human traits mean that we will always have flurries of threads about the topics in question. Frankly, if TGO ever gets to the point that a Tennessean cannot join and express their excitement and anxiety about getting their carry permit, I'll shut the place down. We're all in this thing together and we need to be willing to share in the little joys just like we share in the comisseration when things go bad. And as for the search feature... vBulletin's search engine uses real-text searching. You can improve your odds of getting good hits by using simple Boolean triggers in your search. By prefacing a word with a plus-sign (+) you make sure that your search results include hits on that word. By prefacing a word with a minus-sign (-) you make sure that the search results do not include the word. If you enclose a search term in quotes "like this" then you make sure the phrase like this is searched. If you preface it with a +/- then you mandate that the search includes or excludes the phrase. These things make a huge difference in returning valid hits when you search.
  20. www.themalabarfront.com is the manufacturer's own web site.
  21. Hahahaha... nice. Straight from no sale to SALE.
  22. Sadly, I agree.
  23. Sorry to hear about your grandfather but glad to hear he's ok. That's always scary when a call comes in about family.
  24. Welcome Jimmy.
