  1. Goodtogo™ On a serious note, guys let's be civil here. There's no need to be critical of anyone else's alertness provided that they are being alert in the first place. I'm more worried about the guy who bumbles through life in "Condition Green" all the time. Thanks.
  2. I love my Glocks. Welcome to the Dark Side.
  3. Am I misreading this or did you essentially take it upon yourself to tell this organization to post better signs so that any loophole that may have existed to allow carry will be removed?
  4. No, it just has a feedback forum that I set up for that purpose. I could do that here as well and will if we ditch vbClassified. What everyone else is talking about here is the eBay style feedback ratings that appear beneath people's names when they post.
  5. On private property you will just be asked to leave. If you refuse or if you come back, you can be charged with trespassing. This does not apply on State or Federal property, schools, or where alcohol is served for consumption.
  6. Thought for the day... You've taken the pain to get your HCP. You paid to take the class, you sat through that god-awful movie, you shot accurately enough to pass the practical exam and you paid Cesar his due. You're probably a pretty law abiding person. So STOP FEELING GUILTY WHEN YOU EXERCISE YOUR RIGHT TO CARRY. Keep it hidden, keep quiet, stop asking the police if it's OK for you to do what it's OK for you to do... and go about your life.
  7. You've lost me. What other software?
  8. Understood. Sometimes you have to take a few steps backwards to get to where you want to be.
  9. Ok... but this story begs the question of why you're $150,000 in the hole after having it made before.
  10. You could have stiff-armed him and then explained the flaw in his thought process to him as he came to.
  11. There is presently not a way to provide eBay style feedback ratings w/o using the Classifieds software. There used to be an add-on for vBulletin that provided this but the author abandoned the project and no one else has picked it up. If we kill the vbClassifieds (which I am in favor of doing) we will loose the feedback ratings system also.
  12. If I had to buy off the shelf, it would be a Smith & Wesson or a Daniel Defense, in that order.
  13. I had high hopes for the vbClassified software that we use for our classified ads feature, but we've had several problems and mixed sentiments from our members about the software. The author of vbClassified has been out of the country on a work assignment (he says) and support has been completely nonexistent since January 7, 2009. Four months of zero support on nagging issues is a really bad thing. I'm very tempted to can the vbClassified software on TGO and go back to using regular old forums dedicated to the task. In fact I think that if I remove vbClassified, the forums that it stores data in will remain and the existing ads will more or less still be there. I am going to leave this up to popular vote. If you'd like to see the vbClassified software thrown out, let me know. I've already thrown it out on another forum that I run and I will admit that the members there are much happier. Let your voices be heard.
  14. I was going to try to drive over for this but I've got a business meeting that popped up and will carry me through your lunch time. If this becomes a regular event, I'll do my best to stop over!
  15. Folks, I'm contemplating getting rid of the Reviews System and just encouraging people to post reviews of things inside their respective forums in the message areas. It seems that we already have a split going on right now with some reviews being put in the Reviews system and others being put in the forums. Frankly, I don't feel like the Reviews System has ever taken off the way I had originally thought it might and it may just be time to put it out to pasture. Thoughts?
  16. Running a very conservative customized version of the default database settings. Performance looks good at the moment but will have to monitor for errors and such.
  17. Tractor Supply used to carry this.
  18. Thanks. The base of my right thumb is smarting pretty good tonight from where I locked the 340 into a tight two-handed grip. I think single-handed grip is the way to shoot these things with magnum rounds without getting beaten up too badly. My left hand doesn't hurt a bit and I shot at least half of the time with it and only it.
  19. And we have a Classifieds system here on TGO too.
  20. The NG 327 would make an excellent compliment but I think a compact 1911 for my wife is more likely to happen first.
  21. Ouch. Sorry to hear about your luck.
  22. Thanks for the compliments. I have to admit that after the first cylinder of magnum rounds two-handed, I was a bit hesitant to let one loose with one hand. After I tried it, I was shocked at the fact that it felt better one-handed. It was a really odd experience.
  23. Last week I traded in my Smith & Wesson #442 J-frame for an M&P #340 J-frame. I finally had a chance to shoot it some today, so here are my thoughts: Pro Same dimensions as my #442 Great pocket gun or backup gun Love the XS 24/7 front sight 5-rounds of .357 Mag should be a nice show-stopper Con Short grip really magnifies the kick of .357 Magnum rounds I shot about 20 rds through it today using full-house 135gr magnum loads. Also shot about 10 rds through it using lighter .38spl +P loads. I really couldn't tell a significant difference in terms of muzzle blast between the two but the magnum rounds had significantly sharper recoil. I have heard some pretty silly statements about the experience of shooting .357 Mag through the 2" J-frame. I'm happy to say that none of them seemed to have much truth to them. To me at least. Example: Um, no. Concrete hurts. The magnum loads stung, but nothing like the exaggerated statement above. Granted, I don't plan on doing an extended shooting session with magnum loads but they were maybe half-again as "harsh" to shoot as the .38spl +P laods were. Not something to worry about and certainly not something that you're going to notice when the adrenaline is surging during a life or death situation. Oddly enough, I noticed that I felt less recoil in my hand when shooting one-handed, left or right hand, than I did when shooting two-handed. Maybe I get a better purchase on the grip single handed or maybe I'm imparting more of the recoil to my forearm with a one-handed stance. Whatever the case, the revolver is actually more pleasant for me to shoot one handed. Which is good, of course, since as a backup gun it is actually more likely that I would shoot it one-handed using my weak hand anyway. Obligatory gun porn:
  24. Since what changeover?
