  1. Mick, Randy needs to become a vendor in order to advertise a commercial exercise like this. We have a training organization (Critical Incident Strategies) that has invested financially into the TGO community and we have to protect our Vendors. If Randy does the same, he would receive the same assurance that his investment into TGO would also be protected. I'd be more than happy to discuss this with Randy. In the meantime, the advertisement has to go. If the class were free, there wouldn't be a conflict of interest but clearly someone is making money from the venture. Thanks.
  2. So far today, we've had good results with our server. I have inquired about any changes that were made but I suspect that when I rebooted this morning, either changes that I had made previous and were stuck pending went through, or they made some changes that they haven't told me about yet. Our load average right now looks like this: 0.73 0.58 : 0.55 It's been below 1.00 all morning long, too. Seems kind of ironic that we've had spikes up to 30.xx throughout the week and now suddenly we're seeing good performance.
  3. I usually run 128M on mine but we pulled it back to 64 at the request of the hosting company while they were "testing and troubleshooting". I really miss having my own server. Our last box had dual Xeon procs and 4GB memory. It hauled ass.
  4. Update... I've thrown the gauntlet down with our web hosting provider. If they can't get the server fixed, we're moving elsewhere. More on this as events warrant but I've had enough of this as I'm sure you all have as well.
  5. Pretty disappointed that she got out without the jaws of life or a battering ram. [joke about my wife removed by threat of death or bodily injury]
  6. Please tell me a breaching team rescued her. (goes to watch video with fingers crossed)
  7. The reason I ask is that I've got a Glock sight tool and wouldn't mind putting them in for you. But I'm on the opposite side of Nashville from you so a trip to G&L would be a better choice I'm sure.
  8. I think the last time it happened was a few months back. Possibly before we even had to move to the new server. Backups aren't time consuming but they do require that the forum is shut down while they occur and they do eat up some space on our server until I offload them. If I were to do it more than once a day, I'm afraid people might complain about the downtime. I'm looking into some other options right now as well. One of our members suggested hosting with Amazon's Elastic Computing 2 (EC2) service and I've got to do some investigating there. It would mean an almost infinite jump in available storage capacity and bandwidth, but there are other concerns that I need to become comfortable with before making any moves. Right now we have what the highest tier of virtual server hosting with our current provider. I'm not entirely convinced that we are exceeding the limits of that system, but there is clearly a problem that I've not been able to pinpoint the cause of. Still working on it!
  9. First of all, good for you for standing your ground! And secondly, thank you for that comment... that's the best thing I've read about TGO all day. Hey... that sounds like the policy I have when my previous employer tries to get me to do contract work for them now.
  10. Can we give it a nickname? My submission is "Hubble" ... that's a big optic!
  11. I'll add something for that again as soon as I get the server itself running the way it should.
  12. Wasn't me who mentioned that but hopefully the original poster will come back and confirm and/or clarify.
  13. We had a problem with our database that was at the very least contributing heavily to the server performance issues we have had all day. Because of this, we were forced to roll back to a backup made last night. I've managed to strip out all of the offending code and get us back to where we should be... but we have essentially lost one day's worth of posts and new member registrations. To say that I'm unhappy about this would be an understatement.
  14. A gunsmith should be able to do it for you with a sight pusher. What part of TN are you in?
  15. Several folks participating in this thread need to simmer down before the moderators intervene. Thanks.
  16. I had a Micro Eagle forced into my hand this evening and couldn't get rid of it fast enough. I'm not a fan at all. It needs to be electroplated in gold tone, have jewels set into the slide and maybe the nickname "Lil Silky" engraved on the side.
  17. Not a fan of Taurus hand guns at all. She's abandoned the idea of an M&P for now and is pretty happy with her J-frame with pink grips and we're doing a custom set of pink grips for her S&W 3914.

  19. That must have been back in our first few months of operation because growth has been explosive for the past two years. Welcome back!
  20. Welcome. I did a tour in Antioch back in '97. Made it out alive and try to avoid going back.
  21. I can refer you to a lawyer who is more than capable of handling this. PM me if you want his contact information.
