  1. Let's choose the date for the June 2009 Middle TN Meet & Shoot. Please vote for the date that works best for you. You can vote for multiple dates to indicate flexibility. Poll closes on June 1st.
  2. There are several threads about this. Do a quick search.
  3. Let's use this thread... http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/political-issues/21463-act-now-bills-moving-today-5-18-09-parks-carry-vehicle.html
  4. Try including those terms in quotes. Search for "FN Five-Seven" or just "Five-Seven" If you don't enclose that string in quotes, the search engine sees the hyphen as being a minus sign and is searching for posts with the word FIVE but not the word SEVEN included within.
  5. Speculating about what Governor Bredesen may do is like speculating about what the weather is going to be like in Middle Tennessee next Wednesday at 1:52pm. Let's move past this line of discussion and focus on putting pressure ON the Governor to do what is right and sign the bill into law.
  6. Happiness really is a warm gun at that point.
  7. I can add exceptions for things like common calibers. What other terms would it not let you search?
  8. I've never been worried that someone would break into my home or car because of an NRA sticker. Every truck I've owned for the past 10 years or so has had an NRA sticker on it. Prior to that, I didn't own a truck. I've never put an NRA sticker on my cars because I figured it would look a little goofy, but I'd probably put an NRA license plate on my car if they produce them. I just don't see what the fuss is about. We live in the South where I'd imagine that a good 75% of the guys born and raised here have hunted something at one point in their life or another. Having an NRA sticker or tag on your truck is about as non-eventful as having a Browning Buck Mark sticker or a Ducks Unlimited sticker.
  9. Well I had a chance to shoot it yesterday at the Mid Tenn Meet & Shoot. The gun is superb. Excellent trigger and far more accurate than I am. I even liked the Big Dot sights, except for the fact that the rear sight had apparently never had Loctite applied to the two set screws. Somewhere around round #70 it started working its way off to the right of the frame. I've since repaired it with Loctite and sufficient torque to the screws, but there is at least a few 1/100ths of an inch daylight showing beneath the base of the sight and the dovetail. I'm likely going to replace them soon with some sights from Chuck Rogers depending on availability and his schedule. I may get him to do some other things to the gun while he has it. One funny thing worth noting is that after the sight came loose, I removed it completely and Hornet Handler and I proceeded to continue putting rounds down range with the gun using the front sight and the hammer as our aiming points. We were consistently getting good groups in the head of a B21 target from 10-15 yds.
  10. We're still heading that direction. There's too much of me to dissolve in a little rain.
  11. Brazil. Probably Taurus.
  12. AOL and Windows Vista.
  13. Pass my apologies on to your checkbook. I'll let you know after tomorrow how high the heat should be turned up. One observation so far, regarding the XS sights. I prefer a strong hook on my rear sights to aid in one-handed slide manipulation. These sights don't have it. I thought they would by looking at the photos online, but the truth is that they are more of a low profile rear design. I may look at a different sight setup if it bears out that the XS sight can't be used reliably for racking the slide. I've seen several recently on other forums that had some SERIOUS bite to them. That's what a good carry gun needs.
  14. Part of the deal when I sold my Glock 21 to fund my wife's pink Smith & Wesson M&P was that I got to pick up another 5-inch all steel 1911 whenever I could find a good deal on one. I found a good deal on one. This is a Springfield Armory "Loaded" model 1911 that the previous owner had installed XS 24/7 Big Dot night sights and an enlarged magazine well on. I added the VZ Grips "Alien" grips in black and red linen micarta. The grips are cut for an ambidextrous safety, so I hope to visit Hero Gear soon and have their gunsmith fit a Wilson High Rise ambi-safety onto it for me. I've already ordered another kydex body for one of my MTAC holsters so that I can carry it if the urge strikes. I'm pretty sure the urge will strike given how good this firearm feels. Thanks go out to the guys at The Outpost Armory for doing the FFL transfer for me and thanks to the guys at Hyatt Gun Shop over in North Carolina for the good deal on it.

    Glock 17 RTF2

I still don't understand why this didn't mark the introduction of ambidextrous mag releases on the G22 and G17. The G19 is due to receive the RTF treatment as well, but if they don't bring the ambi mag-release, I won't bother "upgrading".
  16. Perhaps the patch was put on the bag by the previous owner.
  17. If the SAT included situational problems like this, I wager that a lot of math scores would be higher.
  18. If you love their product, a visit to the source is almost a religious pilgrimage.
  19. Nikki may be new to TGO but she's not new to the ramifications of not being able to defend yourself in places where alcohol are served. You might recall her story in the news recently. Link: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/handgun-carry-self-defense/21228-restaurant-carry-bill.html
  20. Sadly you do have firsthand experience in respect to establishments that serve, but places of worship are not on the "No Carry" list here in Tennessee. I always carry at church and our church leadership has even instituted a forceful response program among those who carry in case the unspeakable should occur.

    New Kimber owner!

Congrats. Did you really find the stock trigger to be less than desirable? I'm not downing your choice of the Wilson Combat trigger, but most Kimbers that I have owned actually had really nice triggers in them. Admittedly the SIS flat trigger is kind of funky though.
  22. Edited to say... I probably said too much so I'm going to just sit tight until I have more for public consumption.
  23. I know where we can get some.
  24. I don't mind picking up a pack of those. I need to go to the office supply store today anyway!
