  1. Just so it's clear, I don't have any intention of this being a fundraiser-by-the-plate sort of thing. The cost of a plate of BBQ is pretty much what it sounds like. $10-20'ish depending on what you eat. I realize that some folks assume that these events just mean that you're showing up and donating to a politician's victory fund. This is a return to tree-stumping where the politicians are invited to attend and address those whom will be voting upon their jobs very soon. TGO commands a large membership and a large bisection of the Tennessee voter base. We already have elected Representatives who browse TGO even if they aren't registered members. Some are. The beauty of screen names, right? The bottom line is that there are some good politicians out there who realize that the winds of change are upon us and realize that We The People want good changes being made on our behalf in the halls of Government. And they want to talk to you! This conference has several purposes. First of all it's a way for TGO members to meet each other and put names with faces. Second of all it's a way for TGO's formidable voter-base to talk directly with the people who impact the laws passed and decisions made at the State and Federal level. Heck, it would be fun just to get the TGO membership together like this once a year. It's even MORE fun to involve our elected Representatives. Again... vote and let yourself be counted if you will make an honest effort to attend.

    1911's

Kimber Warrior + VZ Grips Aliens + Streamlight TLR-1 I have ordered a black Cerakote stainless magwell with lanyard loop from Mars Armament and also a blank, serrated, notch rear sight from 10-8 Performance. These two things address features that I feel like any fighting 1911 ought to have and that the Warrior lacked. I have a different set of VZ Grips on the way that will include a thumb-relief for the magazine release and be cut square to cover the mainspring housing retaining pin at the base of the grip.
  3. Wow. I don't believe that's what I said it was going to be... I said that there might be several elected Representatives present and some may be invited to speak. What's wrong with hearing what the people who will be helping shape policies in the years ahead have to say? Especially if you have the chance to approach them afterward and share your own thoughts?
  4. Celebration Of Liberty Saturday, October 17, 2009 - Christiana, Tennessee Presented by: TNGunOwners.com, The Outpost Armory and Barrett Firearms, Inc. This event will... Be a joint production of Tennessee Gun Owners, The Outpost Armory and Barrett Firearms. Be held just outside of Murfreesboro, Tennessee on the grounds of The Outpost Armory right near Barrett Firearms. Be held this October on Saturday, the date of which is to be announced. Involve food! Have guest speakers, potentially including members of Tennessee's State House and Senate, Tennessee US House and US Senate members. Potentially feature Nashville recording artists Potentially have representatives from the NRA-ILA (Institute for Legislative Action) Doorprize drawings! This event is being planned as a way for TGO members from across Tennessee (and elsewhere!) to assemble, meet each other and also meet the elected officials who are shaping policy now and will be shaping policy in the months and years ahead... and to meet in a semi-informal setting much like the old fashioned "Tree Stump" rallies of years past. Your elected Representatives want to meet with you! Would you attend? Reply back and let us know! Thanks!
  5. McMinnville... I'd check with Joe down at Hero-Gear in Winchester. Welcome to Hero-Gear / Hero Guns : Hero-Gear
  6. Another good one is Fido.
  7. Yep, I visited the Squire's Room again this time and noticed a few new items on display. I figure they probably rotate things in and out of there because of the sheer volume on hand. Perhaps we can get all of the TGO squires to autograph a hat sometime in the near future and donate that to the room.
  8. Have you seen the new bottle yet? We visited the Distillery this past weekend and I admit that I hadn't seen it before now and must have missed the email that they sent out earlier this year to the Squires. After seeing it in the Distillery I decided that I needed to stop by and pick up a boxed bottle at one of the local stores on our way home. I guess this means I need to finish off the old bottle that I already have opened in our cupboard. Any other Single Barrel fans here?
  9. You've cleaned a few too many guns without proper ventilation.
  10. My wife and I are doing our part to ensure that your daughter stays employed.

I can't help but notice your choice of accouterments. If you like that, you'll really like something I'm working up.
  12. I now have a project for the weekend.
  13. Welcome! Glad that you found us and I'm sure you'll get plenty of answers to your questions. As Patrick pointed out, June 1st promises to be a great day to have a carry permit recognized by the state of Tennessee.
  14. I am going to have to ask the land owner about this. He's said before that .50 BMG is ok but I want to make sure that he is aware of exactly what you plan to bring. Is it semi-auto only? And can you keep the rounds on target?
  15. Those of you who are interested in this might want to check out Tennessee HB0798 and SB1261 which aimed to make a provision in the law so that full-time staff of post-secondary education facilities (i.e. colleges) can carry. You can read about it here:Tennessee General Assembly Legislation Unfortunately it failed in the Judicial sub-committee.
  16. Tennessee Handgun Carry Permit Reciprocity Recognition of Out-of-State Handgun Carry Permits Tennessee now recognizes a facially valid handgun permit, firearms permit, weapons permit, or a license issued by another state according to its terms, and will, therefore, authorize the holder of such out-of-state permit or license to carry a handgun only in the state of Tennessee. The person must be in possession of the permit or license at all times such person carries a handgun in Tennessee. Tennessee will enter into written reciprocity agreements with other states that require the execution of such agreements. If a person with a handgun permit from another state decides to become a resident of Tennessee, such person must obtain a Tennessee handgun permit within six (6) months of establishing residency in Tennessee. Such person will be processed as a renewal applicant if the eligibility requirements of the other state are substantially similar to the eligibility requirements of Tennessee. View application requirements by state for persons holding a Handgun Carry Permit from another state and applying for a Tennessee Handgun Carry Permit. A person who is employed in this state for at least thirty (30) hours a week for six (6) consecutive months is required to obtain a Tennessee handgun carry permit within six (6) months from the last day of the sixth month of regular employment in Tennessee. A Tennessee handgun carry permit will be issued in this situation only if the other state has eligibility requirements that are substantially similar to the eligibility requirements of Tennessee. If the eligibility requirements from the other state are substantially similar to the eligibility requirements of Tennessee, Tennessee may issue a Tennessee permit to the person employed in this state under the renewal provisions of Tennessee law. The above number 5 will not apply if the state of residence of the person employed in Tennessee has entered into a reciprocity agreement with Tennessee. States having FORMAL reciprocity agreements with Tennessee: Alaska Arizona Arkansas Florida Georgia Kentucky Louisiana Michigan Mississippi New Hampshire North Carolina Ohio Pennsylvania South Carolina South Dakota Texas Virginia West Virginia Wyoming The above states are the only ones that have signed a formal agreement with the State of Tennessee. States that RECOGNIZE Tennessee Handgun Carry Permits but do not have an official reciprocity agreement with Tennessee: Alabama Colorado Delaware Idaho Indiana Iowa Kansas Minnesota Missouri Montana Nebraska Nevada New Mexico North Dakota Oklahoma Utah Vermont Washington Wisconsin States that DO NOT RECOGNIZE Tennessee Handgun Carry Permits: California Connecticut Hawaii Illinois Maine Maryland Massachusetts New Jersey New York Oregon Rhode Island Washington D.C.
