Two of my four XDs have had that problem. The two that didn't had low round counts. The two that did had more than 2,000 rounds through them. I wouldn't call it a rarity. It pretty much will be. If you want solid 1911 information, check www.1911forum.com or www.m4carbine.com and ask in their handguns forum. 10-8 Forums is one of THE best places for 1911 info but you want to just search and not post. They don't tolerate any BS and their membership is made entirely of industry professionals (cops, military, armorers, etc.) As have mine.

Greg, I hope I didn't somehow imply that this would pose a logistical problem to me. It won't at all. I'd be happy to accommodate you or any others who would like to have something with partial mesh construction for hotter weather wear. Anyone else who wants one, feel free to reply and I'll get something in the works within the next two weeks.

Comp-Tac MTAC is what use for my Glock 19.

I recently extended an olive branch to the TFA in the form of a free banner ad here on TGO but never heard anything back about it. To that end, it strikes me that there has been a real effort from TGO to support the TFA's efforts but yet I still sense a bit of passive-agression from TFA in return. I've said my piece about this issue and I'm done publicly discussing this tension (real or perceived) between TGO and TFA. If John wants to discuss it with me privately, he knows how to get in touch with me. SomeGuy, if I were part of the TFA leadership I'd probably have told you a long time ago that you weren't to make any statements regarding TFA on TGO that weren't directly authorized by the board of directors. I'm done with this.

Received it a while back but forgot to update this thread. I love it. Best OWB holster that I have ever owned. In fact, I've ordered two more of them; one for my Glock 19 and one for my Kimber Warrior. The Phantom pulls up TIGHT to the body and is almost as discrete as any IWB holster that I have used. The extra kydex and wide spread of the belt loops are key to the compact, low profile that it provides. My wife has not yet tried it.

Welcome, Rob! You should consider joining us on June 14th for our regular Middle Tennessee Meet & Shoot. It would be a prime opportunity to meet some of the TGO members in person and I guarantee you would have plenty of firearms made available to you to shoot.

Thanks for sharing this. I'm going to stick this post to the top for future reference!

I am starting a new thread and moving all of yesterday and today's responses to THIS thread into the new one so that we can use it to discuss the House and Senate override. STAY TUNED!!! -
I could dig up several examples if I really have to. I think you're either playing it down or just haven't been paying attention. Do we really want to get into this? This is an issue that I plan on discussing with part of the NRA leadership today actually. Of course, the NRA does not really need to assign a full-time lobbyist to Tennessee anyway. The past year has been one of very few legislative sessions where firearms related law was a hot topic in Nashville. Only during these times does TFA really seem to throw itself out there into the public eye, so only during these times would it likewise be prudent for the NRA to devote more energy to Tennessee also. Clearly you've got a bias here being the TFA's official web guy, so I don't expect you to agree. Why would everyone have known? Is this something that is fully and prominently disclosed in TFA membership literature or previously on the TFA web site? Frankly, I can easily see why this is surprising news to a lot of people. TFA advertises itself as a lobbying organization. Who is/are the registered lobbyists then? If it's not John, who are they? You know, I was shocked. I figured that John was doing the lobbying. It's always been painted that way, and I'm no newbie to the TFA organization. I was courted for your position back when TGO first started growing and John was interested in merging the two together or at least getting me involved in revamping their web site for them.

I'm reluctant to touch this one with a ten foot pole considering some of the animosity that has been drifting our way from TFA lately. This is definitely a journalistic jab back at the TFA for their harassment of Ronal Serpas. But I will say that the late Marswolf had always called to question whether or not TFA was completely on the level in respect to some of what they tout themselves to be; i.e. a lobbying organization. In fact, one of his most frequent demands was something that the newspaper article alluded to in regard to having to divulge their financials were they to be registered as a lobbying group. I wonder if Marswolf is having his last laugh here. Really this doesn't change much for me. When people ask me what Pro-2A group they should join, I tell them the NRA. They have a paid, registered lobbyist assigned to Tennessee.

I was going to do the 650 as well but Brian Enos talked me out of it. According to him it would have been a good choice were I only going to make one caliber and a LOT of it, but with my desire to reload a few different calibers including rifle sizes, he said that the 550 would be easier to reconfigure for each and more economical. Did you upgrade from a 550?

The firearm needs to be returned to Smith & Wesson so that they can tune the ejector and extractor a bit. The good news is that S&W provides a lifetime warranty for the lifetime of the gun and will pay for shipping both to and from them and have your weapon back to you in short order.
