  1. CIS recommends the training at Tactical Response and both principals in CIS have taken classes out there. I think the key is going with an open mind but also being able to filter out some of the chest beating from some parties involved. This based purely on what I've been told and not my own experience. For that matter, this is probably key when taking training at a lot of places. CIS is definitely where I'd start.
  2. Non-lethal and less-lethal forms of protection are always a good tool no matter where you are, Steve. Good advice. Some people only carry a gun and don't figure out until it's too late that not every situation requires firepower but some situations require a little more leverage than just your fists or feet.
  3. Ok, cool. I'd run with some trauma plates front and back if you're even hoping to stop an AK round but otherwise it will protect you somewhat from indirect "strays" like splash back. Keep in mind the offset between your bore and sight on the AK also when you're shooting around barricades like that. You don't want to put a round straight into a piece of steel a few feet from you just because your sights were clear of the obstacle.
  4. Please tell me that's real body armor and not some sort of weird Airsoft faux-armor.
  5. Speaking of other forums and this particular topic, I read this one elsewhere earlier and damn near spit my coffee all over my desk... I think the principle question which remains to be answered is: did he die with a smile on his face? On a more serious note, my experience has been that individuals seeking the "rush" or high from alcohol, drugs, sex, or high risk activities inevitably end up developing a greater and greater tolerance and, thus, must ingest or pursue more and more to achieve the desired effect, inevitably leading them to "raise the bar" to dangerous and often fatal levels. I've known more than a few fellas who hooked up with some gal who really rocked their world by giving them something they had never had before and it ****ed 'em up pretty good. Who wants beer and pretzels after having sipped caviar and champagne, right? So they end up chasing bigger and bigger sexual highs and eventually get burned. That's not to say everybody who takes a little walk on the wild side is going to end up in a Motel 6 with two dead hookers and a chimp wearin' a bellhop's cap (or a Bangkok hotel with a rope around your neck and your joint), but it can be a dangerous game to play if you've got that type of "addictive" personality, for lack of a better description.
  6. Yeah and Thailand... come on, their national bird is the Hooker. Chances are he had some help and she ran off when he stopped responding.
  7. Hex, I'm copying your above post into a new thread so that folks will pay attention and take action as you've suggested.
  8. It keeps getting weirder... The death of American actor David Carradine may have been accidental suffocation, Thai police said Friday. The 72-year-old actor's body was discovered Thursday in his luxury suite at Bangkok's Swissotel Nai Lert Park Hotel. Police initially said they suspected suicide, though Carradine's associates had questioned that theory. Police Lt. Gen. Worapong Chewprecha told reporters that Carradine was found with a rope "tied around his penis and another rope around his neck." "The two ropes were tied together," he said. "It is unclear whether he committed suicide or not or he died of suffocation or heart failure due to an orgasm." 10. I've received my digital scale and a copy of Brian Enos' book Practical Shooting: Beyond The Fundamentals" and expect to see my Dillon stuff start arriving any time now. I will say this about the book: It's DEEP.
  11. Municipally owned facility. No legal carry there.
  12. Heck yeah! You've got a gun safe in your bedroom!!!
  13. I don't see why anyone would say it is best not to ask the management or wait staff about their intentions regarding HB0962. Frankly, I'd rather know sooner than later that an establishment doesn't want my money. Why the heck would I want to continue padding their wallet waiting for them to reveal their hand??? I'm sorry that the the thread's original poster experienced such a rude reaction from the tugboat of a woman manager, but at least you know now.

  18. Kentucky doesn't allow anyone to post a prohibited carry sign and restaurant carry has been legal since CCW permits started being issued. It sucks to admit it, but Kentucky's way ahead of Tenenssee in terms of firearms law.
  19. It takes a big man to do that.
  20. In the meantime, I highly suggest that all of you consider approaching the manager at whatever venues you frequent and ask them to please NOT post their location as an area where carry is prohibited. Explain that if they do, you will be forced to take your money elsewhere and that you will encourage your friends and family to do likewise. Come back here and post your results! We need to recognize the places that WON'T post as much as we need to out those that will.
  21. I really like this design.
  22. No problem. I've got several potential candidates for a mesh-hat and will be contacting my vendor this morning after they open. One of the hat designs that I found is actually ALL mesh but the front mesh is a bit tighter so that it looks almost solid. Would something like that work? It looks pretty darn cool.
  23. I came really close to ordering some Alumagrips for my Kimber Warrior but was a bit concerned about the fact that aluminum is a great conductor of temperature. It seems that during extended shooting sessions, the grip is going to be pretty warm. Am I just making this seem more significant than it really is?
  24. I'm not sure what you mean by "patrol cap". Are you talking about a lid?
