A lot of those things are in the works. A venue has been suggested to Nikki by a potential honored guest; I'm awaiting confirmation on several things before I post it.

Just so everyone is aware... Nikki Goeser has asked that we try to assemble a group somewhere in Nashville for a celebration of the new law. One of us will post more details about that in this thread as soon as the fine touches are put on it.

IMPORTANT... I have added a poll to this thread. Please vote (and do it quick) so that I can get an initial head-count of how many people will likely be attending the Nashville-area dinner. The venue will be announced shortly. I just need to know how many will likely attend so that I can have an intelligent conversation with the management of several restaurants. Venue will be within a 20-30 minute drive of downtown Nashville proper. Maybe even closer than that. We're just keeping our options open! Event will happen at 8:00pm CST since it will be held in conjunction with a LIVE call-in to the NRA Radio "Cam and Company" show from Nikki Goeser who will be in attendance.

Actually working on the TGO picnic and have spoke with Christie [sp] a few times lately.

One of these days maybe Tennessee will have a forum for gun owners big enough that a representative or two from it get to attend a shindig like this.

Received notice via USPS today that the S&W Performance Center had evaluated the work requested, done a performance and safety check on the M&P 9mm, and estimated the work to cost $129.00 including shipping back to me via UPS 2nd Day Air. This is actually a hair cheaper than I anticipated. Needless to say I have commissioned them to do the work and paid the required fee. I hope to have it back soon!

Coincidentally, I now also have a Milt Sparks VM2 coming for my Kimber. It will beat the HBE to my doorstep by a solid month. Whether or not I keep the HBE is yet to be determined, but I'm not going to cancel my order with Eric. I'll just sell it if I end up preferring the VM2, or vice versa.

The answer to your question depends on what brand of 1911 you have and what sight cuts are in the frame. That will determine if there are any off the shelf options for you that won't require extensive hand fitting and/or milling of the dovetail to accept a common sight. XS Big Dots are available for the Novak cut and are probably the one that carries the lowest odds of having your slide fitted for them. They are LOOSE, but come with set screws to tighten the sight up. I recently ordered a plain flat serrated rear sight for my Kimber and it was machined as a fit for the Kimber dovetail. Probably so, in fact. But it's still too tight of a fit so I am going to have to either hit the sight a lot with a jeweler's file or just have a competent gunsmith do the grunt work for me. Probably less cussing if I go that route. I know that Jeff Walle up at Guns & Leather is a top notch smith. I've had the pleasure of shooting with him at USPSA events in the past and have talked guns with him on a few occasions. Really nice guy and extremely talented within his art form. I'd be inclined to get in touch with him for anything custom that you need.

I was actually aiming that question only at CAS. If he's done that stuff at the age of 17, he's got a serious leg up on a lot of folks his age and that's a tremendous accomplishment.
