HBE Leatherworks Holster Ordered For Kimber Warrior
TGO David replied to TGO David's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Coincidentally, I now also have a Milt Sparks VM2 coming for my Kimber. It will beat the HBE to my doorstep by a solid month. Whether or not I keep the HBE is yet to be determined, but I'm not going to cancel my order with Eric. I'll just sell it if I end up preferring the VM2, or vice versa. -
Me too, Leroy. I'm a trivia geek at heart and when you combine guns with trivia, you immediately have my interest.

The answer to your question depends on what brand of 1911 you have and what sight cuts are in the frame. That will determine if there are any off the shelf options for you that won't require extensive hand fitting and/or milling of the dovetail to accept a common sight. XS Big Dots are available for the Novak cut and are probably the one that carries the lowest odds of having your slide fitted for them. They are LOOSE, but come with set screws to tighten the sight up. I recently ordered a plain flat serrated rear sight for my Kimber and it was machined as a fit for the Kimber dovetail. Probably so, in fact. But it's still too tight of a fit so I am going to have to either hit the sight a lot with a jeweler's file or just have a competent gunsmith do the grunt work for me. Probably less cussing if I go that route. I know that Jeff Walle up at Guns & Leather is a top notch smith. I've had the pleasure of shooting with him at USPSA events in the past and have talked guns with him on a few occasions. Really nice guy and extremely talented within his art form. I'd be inclined to get in touch with him for anything custom that you need.

Erase your signature. Save it. Type in new signature, make link to that site... save it again. Should work.

I was actually aiming that question only at CAS. If he's done that stuff at the age of 17, he's got a serious leg up on a lot of folks his age and that's a tremendous accomplishment.

I have updated the first post in this thread with some exciting new updates that I am only now able to publicly reveal. This event will be sponsored by The Outpost Armory and Barrett Firearms and will be joint production between these two well known and well respected companies and Tennessee Gun Owners. The event is slated for October of this year. We are still working out the fine details and will announce exactly which weekend it will occur on very soon. I'd like to thank Chris Barrett, his father Ronnie Barrett, and the fine folks at both The Outpost Armory and Barrett Firearms for sponsoring this event. I'm excited by the prospect of an amazing get together and am grateful for their generous support of not only TGO but of firearms owners in general. Stay tuned!!!

I'm curious... how much of this stuff have you done yourself and how much of it are you repeating second or third hand based off of what you read somewhere on the Internet or heard from someone in conversation?

Gave me chills. Excellent read.

An open letter to the folks on this board....

This thread would have never made it to 3 pages without this picture, were Marswolf still around... -
You must have been adjudicated mentally defective or incompetent to manage your own affairs, or have been committed to a mental institution before you are prohibited from owning a handgun or possessing a HCP. I am not a lawyer, but if neither of those have occurred, you should be good to go.

CIS recommends the training at Tactical Response and both principals in CIS have taken classes out there. I think the key is going with an open mind but also being able to filter out some of the chest beating from some parties involved. This based purely on what I've been told and not my own experience. For that matter, this is probably key when taking training at a lot of places. CIS is definitely where I'd start.

Non-lethal and less-lethal forms of protection are always a good tool no matter where you are, Steve. Good advice. Some people only carry a gun and don't figure out until it's too late that not every situation requires firepower but some situations require a little more leverage than just your fists or feet.

Ok, cool. I'd run with some trauma plates front and back if you're even hoping to stop an AK round but otherwise it will protect you somewhat from indirect "strays" like splash back. Keep in mind the offset between your bore and sight on the AK also when you're shooting around barricades like that. You don't want to put a round straight into a piece of steel a few feet from you just because your sights were clear of the obstacle.

Please tell me that's real body armor and not some sort of weird Airsoft faux-armor.

Speaking of other forums and this particular topic, I read this one elsewhere earlier and damn near spit my coffee all over my desk... I think the principle question which remains to be answered is: did he die with a smile on his face? On a more serious note, my experience has been that individuals seeking the "rush" or high from alcohol, drugs, sex, or high risk activities inevitably end up developing a greater and greater tolerance and, thus, must ingest or pursue more and more to achieve the desired effect, inevitably leading them to "raise the bar" to dangerous and often fatal levels. I've known more than a few fellas who hooked up with some gal who really rocked their world by giving them something they had never had before and it ****ed 'em up pretty good. Who wants beer and pretzels after having sipped caviar and champagne, right? So they end up chasing bigger and bigger sexual highs and eventually get burned. That's not to say everybody who takes a little walk on the wild side is going to end up in a Motel 6 with two dead hookers and a chimp wearin' a bellhop's cap (or a Bangkok hotel with a rope around your neck and your joint), but it can be a dangerous game to play if you've got that type of "addictive" personality, for lack of a better description.

Yeah and Thailand... come on, their national bird is the Hooker. Chances are he had some help and she ran off when he stopped responding.

It keeps getting weirder... The death of American actor David Carradine may have been accidental suffocation, Thai police said Friday. The 72-year-old actor's body was discovered Thursday in his luxury suite at Bangkok's Swissotel Nai Lert Park Hotel. Police initially said they suspected suicide, though Carradine's associates had questioned that theory. Police Lt. Gen. Worapong Chewprecha told reporters that Carradine was found with a rope "tied around his penis and another rope around his neck." "The two ropes were tied together," he said. "It is unclear whether he committed suicide or not or he died of suffocation or heart failure due to an orgasm."
