  1. Are those rounds not pointing backwards?
  2. Jeez... who's going to dance for dollars now?
  3. Did Heckler & Koch load the belt in this gun?
  4. Parkerizing is indeed something I'm looking into.
  5. That pic is actually a canned photo from Norrell's web site but it's highly indicative of what the product looks like. I was trapped in the lobby at the dealership, waiting for my car's oil change when I posted that. I used to be a "change my own oil" kind of guy until the Acura place pointed out that they would do it for about $10 more than it was costing me to do it myself, and in exchange I get to sit in air conditioned comfort and let someone else get dirty. Deal!!!
  6. I've begun using Norrell's Moly Resin on some of the firearms that I'm refinishing and this is some pretty rugged stuff! Last night I took a spare parkerized combat style 1911 rear sight from 10-8 Performance, prepped it and then shot it with two coats of flat black moly resin. After curing it in the oven for an hour and then letting it cool, I took it and started subjecting it to some abuse. I ran it into the sight dovetail and back out using a MGW sight pusher. No affect on the finish. Marginal scuffing on the dovetail shoulders. Parkerizing almost always rubs off when I do this. I smacked it with a hammer. Minor scuffing, some of which I was able to rub off with my thumb. Not bad. Duracoat will evetually chip at points of impact, but this stuff didn't really budge. I then flipped the sight over and took a bent, heavy duty paper clip and raked the sharp edge of it across the bottom of the dovetail. It left a small scratch but not all the way through the resin. Like I said... tough stuff! (Canned photo from Norell's web site... not mine!) I will be posting price information soon on all of the firearms finishes that I will be providing.
  7. Legally we are all required to. Not doing it would be illegal and advocating not doing it would be against our policy of not allowing discussions promoting illegal activities. Gun owners are a very law abiding group, by and large.
  8. Here's the problem with this whole situation distilled down to it's most basic level: Every report of Metro Council withdrawing their proposal to ban firearms where alcohol is served centers around the legal aspects of doing so. They are not withdrawing it because they have had a change of heart and feel that is wrong to deprive the citizens of their right to a reasonable means of self defense. Until that change happens within the Metro Council at large and Mayor Karl "The Kommie" Dean, there will always be the specter of a renewed attack against our gun rights looming in the shadows, waiting for the right moment to pounce once again. The voting, gun-owning public needs to vote these anti self-defense jackholes out of office every time the opportunity presents itself. Only then will we have a decent assurance that the people in elected offices are executing the will of the people.
  9. A lot of those things are in the works. A venue has been suggested to Nikki by a potential honored guest; I'm awaiting confirmation on several things before I post it.
  10. Just so everyone is aware... Nikki Goeser has asked that we try to assemble a group somewhere in Nashville for a celebration of the new law. One of us will post more details about that in this thread as soon as the fine touches are put on it.
  11. I'd make the short drive up to Hero Gear in Winchester for this.
  12. I just created several new region-specific threads to discuss July 14th meets. Closing this one to encourage people to seek out those threads and get the ball rolling.
  13. Use this thread to decide on a place to meet in the Tri Cities Area on July 14th to enjoy dining with friends and firearms. Once a venue and time are chosen, I'll update this first post in the thread to list that information.
  14. Use this thread to decide on a place to meet in the Knoxville Area on July 14th to enjoy dining with friends and firearms. Once a venue and time are chosen, I'll update this first post in the thread to list that information.
  15. IMPORTANT... I have added a poll to this thread. Please vote (and do it quick) so that I can get an initial head-count of how many people will likely be attending the Nashville-area dinner. The venue will be announced shortly. I just need to know how many will likely attend so that I can have an intelligent conversation with the management of several restaurants. Venue will be within a 20-30 minute drive of downtown Nashville proper. Maybe even closer than that. We're just keeping our options open! Event will happen at 8:00pm CST since it will be held in conjunction with a LIVE call-in to the NRA Radio "Cam and Company" show from Nikki Goeser who will be in attendance.
  16. Use this thread to decide on a place to meet in the Chattanooga Area on July 14th to enjoy dining with friends and firearms. Once a venue and time are chosen, I'll update this first post in the thread to list that information.
  17. Use this thread to decide on a place to meet in the Memphis Area on July 14th to enjoy dining with friends and firearms. Once a venue and time are chosen, I'll update this first post in the thread to list that information.
  18. Actually working on the TGO picnic and have spoke with Christie [sp] a few times lately.
  19. One of these days maybe Tennessee will have a forum for gun owners big enough that a representative or two from it get to attend a shindig like this.
  20. Received notice via USPS today that the S&W Performance Center had evaluated the work requested, done a performance and safety check on the M&P 9mm, and estimated the work to cost $129.00 including shipping back to me via UPS 2nd Day Air. This is actually a hair cheaper than I anticipated. Needless to say I have commissioned them to do the work and paid the required fee. I hope to have it back soon!
  21. Is Joey still in business? Nick shut down his joint in downtown Nashville.
  22. Welcome, Reid. How are things in your part of Metro?
  23. Looks like a lot of fun while learning, as always! You guys should have an alumni weekend sometime. Any excuse to come out there and do some dynamic drills is a good excuse.
