My wife has thrown down the gauntlet and told me to get rid of some stuff or sleep in the garage. I guess she's afraid that I am turning into a hoarder of things. One of the things my friends and family know about me is that I love a good hat. Consequently, new hats show up all of the time and often they get put on display in my office. A guy can only wear one or two at a time, after all. But anyway, these hats are all unworn and in as-new condition. I'll put a price below each of them that is fair and way below whatever they cost new. I'll include postage to you in the Lower 48 US states as part of the sale price. EDIT 22-DEC-2022... SOLD ITEMS HAVE BEEN REMOVED. #5. Viktos OD Green Mesh Shooters Hat [$15.00] The only reason this one is for sale is that I already had one. Great hat with a really cool buckle-style closure. #6. Tactical Tailor Nomad Kryptek Camo Shooters Hat [$18.00] Alright this is one I actually bought for myself. The problem is, I have a Noveske hat also made by Tactical Tailor, and it has a lot of sentimental value to me. If I am going to wear a hat of this style, it's going to be the Noveske hat that John Noveske himself sent to me prior to his untimely passing. I might as well sell this one and let someone get some use out of it.

I'm in it to win it, and I put up the TGO Christmas lights this morning too.

So... I just spoke with Mark. We're going to do this!

@Redhansen - The gig is up! You've found me. Shooters Nation is/was a labor of love for me. I miss doing the show as much as some folks, yourself included, seem to enjoy listening to it. There honestly isn't a week that goes by that I don't think of picking right up where we left off. I'd love to, really. I am going to send this to Mark. He isn't on TGO but I wonder if he might be getting the itch to do this again too. If not, I may bring it back with some other help. Cancel Culture definitely played no small part in our decision to stop where we were. Back in 2020, when we recorded the last episode, things in the world were absolutely starting to spiral out of control. The election took a lot of already polarized people and flipped them on their heads. People I knew personally were losing their jobs or being threatened with such for things that they had said online about the election, about the "social justice" movement, about the racial riots, etc. Mostly those folks were just saying what sane people would say. Basically just "This is wrong. This is nuts. We've got to let cooler heads prevail." etc. Dangerous things, those words of ours! Anyway.... THANK YOU for this thread and your comments. They made my day. And they've got me staring at the microphone and recording equipment here at Shooters Nation HQ and thinking What would happen if I fired this up and just started running my mouth again? Who knows! We might find out sometime soon.

I waver back and forth on this subject. I imagine that we would both agree that you need a source of bright white light, readily accessible even under stress or hostile conditions, on your person as part of your daily carry. That light should be separate from your weapon-mounted light. There are simply just situations in which you will want to illuminate something without pointing a gun at it. Even if it's to determine if you want to point your gun at it. A good WML is a must-have for home defense, police duty or armed guard duty, IMO. For civilians it's probably not as essential but that also depends on what time of day and in what environments you typically operate. With that said, however, I believe it was Aaron Cowan at Sage Dynamics that I first heard ask a naysayer, "Do you ever go into buildings?" when they posed the idea that a WML in daylight isn't logical. On the other side of this argument I will readily admit that finding a good holster for a handgun without a WML is a heck of a lot easier than finding one with. Even with as common as WML holsters are these days, it's still easier to find a great one without a light than it is to find one with a light, especially for a brand new model handgun. I still carry 99.9999% of the time with a handheld light and a weapon mounted light. But there are times I only carry a handheld light and I don't feel entirely vulnerable or incomplete without the WML.

National Lab you say? That immediately makes you a Smart Guy in my book, so this should be a piece of cake for you. Natively your iPad photos are going to be WAYYYYYY larger than needed for TGO. You'll need to upload them to a photo hosting site (Photobucket, IMGURL, etc.) and then just use the embed code they provide to link them into a post here. I am using a special tag to show you the URL of a photo hosted on Smugmug... https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-rSWRx8P/0/bd74f073/X5/i-rSWRx8P-X5.jpg Which I will then simply paste into the editor and it will show up as a photo below...

You know how you say "Browning Hi-Power Magazines" in Italian? With both hands.

Is the OEM barrel sub-par? I have read various reports talking about how good it is.

I can't wait to see what Springfield Custom Shop starts doing with these.

I'm glad you are here among us. You've probably already figured it out, but TGO is full of some of the finest people on the planet. We tend to cover each other when times get rough, even if it's just to make them laugh or to share a prayer or two. I'll let the other clowns keep you laughing, but I'll gladly say a prayer that your November is far better than October has been.

Electrical Engineer by education. Used that degree to walk across a platform and get the paper. I've done industrial automation, low-voltage wiring plant design and installation, and all manner of IT work from small-shop to mega corporation. These days I manage a bunch of engineers in an information security role who can still remember all of the stuff I've forgotten about or who are infinitely smarter and more talented than I ever was. One of these days I'll figure out a way to kick the cheese habit and then I won't give a damn who's moved it or where.

Thanks for doing your part to keep it all flowing.

In all seriousness, 4473 does still ask if you've ever been adjudicated as a mental defective OR ever committed to a mental institution. There is no way I would answer anything other than what my genetic "assigned" gender was on a form like this. They ask these questions for a reason. I'd give no reason, other than being a gun owner in the first place, 10- 20- 30- 50- years from now when our government is even more of a sh#tshow than it is now for them to send the gestapo to my house to round me up and send me to the work camps.

"Just find a hole and hope for the best" .... My pronouns are backing up and my participle hasn't dangled right for a week, but at least the oppression I feel now isn't from the authoritarian death-grip of traditional science.
-
Yep. The 4473 is profiling.
-
Well, damn. Wilson Combat actually makes a grip module that I like better than the Polymer 80. This is their Carry II (Carry 2) variant made for the X-Carry 3.9" barrel models. It has a metal mag release, unlike the Polymer 80 grip. The circumference of this is somewhere between the medium and small grips produced by Sig Sauer. The texture is just right on the side panels and even more right on the front strap and back strap.
-
You know, Form 4473 used to just ask if you'd ever been committed to a mental institution.

I think the best quote I've seen from social media regarding the SA-35 was along the lines of, "Well done, Springfield. All of your past mistakes are now forgiven."

Baldwin shoots two on movie set, accidental misfire???
TGO David replied to TennesseeCamper's topic in General Chat
I think you are being way too optimistic. If Hollywood turns on Baldwin, it sets a precedent that will bite the rest of them later. They will blame this on the gun culture. They will blame it on the armorer and the gun and will use it as a self-righteous call to action against guns in general. It'll be about everything but personal accountability and we will all pay for it, as usual. -
Possibly that one was a defective model or had manufacturing debris inside of it. The FN 509s that I have owned all had pretty good triggers out of the box. Good enough that I didn't see much need in the Apex trigger that I bought, installed and summarily removed. The trigger pull on the 509 does run a but heavy at first, but the more you fire it the better it gets. Like most guns, I suppose. I'd like to have another 509MRD. Maybe I'll pick one up one of these days. Other than having a pretty complicated sear design, the gun is really what most Glock 19 fans want out of a Glock 19 but can't get without customization or without going to a Glock-pattern gun from someone else.

He's actually not a bad guy. His internet persona has even tamed down a bit over the past few years, but that seems to have always been an amped up version of his personality "for effect". People, myself included in the past, have dog piled onto second- and third-hand information about him which is unfortunate. I've mentioned before that I was quite wrong about it and regret that I was one of those people. It's worth watching the videos he's done with John Lovell of Warrior Poet Society to see a glimpse of who he is.
