  1. I heard about this yesterday. Post pics or die.
  2. Compensating. Gotcha.
  3. Please never run for an elected office. Those are the new pictures.
  4. It's cool to see so many 1911's being carried here. I ended up switching over to my M&P 40 this afternoon in MTAC holster and a spare mag in a Comp-Tac pouch on the opposite side. Took the Kimber back down to Jeff Meister at Hero Gear to do a little more fitting on the front sight.
  5. Emblem on the door is for a 6.0L PSD. Looks good, but dayyyyyyym, Mike... why'd you go for a long bed???
  6. Also... this is a specialty office, NOT internal medicine.
  7. No. Someone else loaded the mag and handed it to me. The .40SW was down inside the mag somewhere. It's easier to screw up than you think, especially when people are standing around talking, shooting and loading and not paying 100% attention to the ammo they are dipping into. Easy mistake.
  8. My wife's medical office is looking to fill a staff position with a qualified Medical Assistant (MA), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or a Registered Nurse (RN). This opportunity is available immediately. Hours are really cushy for the medical profession. Monday through Friday only, 40hrs a week, roughly 8am - 5pm with some variation inside that window. My wife has worked for this company for about a year and a half now and serves as the lead nurse on staff. She loves working there and will be participating in the interviewing process. If you or someone you know is interested, qualified, and lives within the greater Nashville area and needs a good job ... let me know!
  9. Pretty cool. What options did you go with?
  10. Today is a Kimber Warrior 1911 day for me. It's Friday, I'm sporting some khaki cargo shorts and my Milt Sparks VM2 holster and a Comp-Tac single mag carrier on the opposite side. All of this conceals easily for me under a loose fitting T-shirt. Just seemed like a good day to carry some American iron.
  11. Ok HCP holders... if you're like me, sometimes your daily carry varies a little depending on attire, situation and even your own mood. What I tote from day to day is usually consistent across a few different handguns that I have a strong attachment to. I thought it might be fun to have a thread where we can check in each day and post up what we're carrying that day (or moment) and why we decided to do it. I'll start!
  12. Why... I have an Electrical Engineering degree. But the time away from home wouldn't go over well with my wife at all.
  13. You know... I didn't even think about that. Huh. Our doctor was a moron!
  14. It has a shorter barrel, which should make it easier for the tyke to tote around with her.

    H&K UPS 45

Big as a brick and suitable for use as a framing hammer if you run out of ammo. Built like tanks. I love them.
  16. She might want to ask her own OB/GYN about this. The analogy our doctor used was that he has had expectant mothers who worked around heavy machinery in factories and around jet airliners on the flight line at Nashville BNA airport... and those all are extremely noisy environments. The babies were no worse for the wear. Again, just let her do what she feels safest doing. You're outnumbered at least 2:1 anytime you argue with a pregnant woman.
  17. I think a nominal charge per shooter should be expected by those who participate. Your range is top notch and it certainly isn't free for you to keep up. Guests are charged $5 to shoot at Owl Hollow and it's expected of them to pay it if they aren't already members.
  18. FYI -- You and your wife might want to check more on this whole idea that the shooting range causes deafness for infants in utero. My wife is an RN and checked into it pretty heavily when we were expecting last year and the research she did, and the doctor that we both spoke with, bore out that there was actually very little risk to the unborn child so long as the mother doesn't handle lead. Even then the risk can be mitigated by the mother washing her hands thoroughly. Water is a horrible conductor for sound, and the baby is actually inside a very muffled environment in the womb. If there was really any truth to this, there would be a lot of deaf kids coming from the ghetto from baby's mommas riding around in cars with thundering stereos that routinely hit decibel levels rivaling those of gunfire. Just something to think about. Your wife/girlfriend/baby-momma needs to do what SHE feels comfortable with, but I suspect some research other than the ridiculously fallible Internet might yield a better answer than "Oh noes don't do it!!!1" or whatever else she may have read.
  19. That was going to be my suggestion. Have one on a Sunday, then another on a Wednesday sometime. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help.
  20. I've got a clear plastic tote box full of holsters that I still use occasionally. My good leather stays in the safe along with my firearms, though. I'd be almost as sad if something happened to any of my Milt Sparks VM2's as I would be if something happened to a gun.
  21. Smyrna's range is too small for us to bring the Magpul Dynamics guys into and so far I've been unable to find any other property that would work for a MD class. So sign me up as another person looking for property to host a class on.
  22. But to be honest, I know exactly what you mean about the never-ending and evolving quest for what seems perfect. I do waffle back and forth between the Glock 19 (for some things) and one of the two M&Ps and the 1911. Realizing that this flies in the face of the sound logic that states you should fear the man who owns one gun because he probably knows how to use it, I love me some versatility. The downside to this is, I can no longer make fun of my wife for owning a lot of shoes.
