We went to recon this show and found about what we expected. Not a whole lot. I did meet a nice fellow selling some firearm themed T-shirts, and invited him to come and be a vendor at the Guns & Gear Expo in December.

Many of you have probably seen instances of mod rewrite at work before when an image was pulled from Photobucket or a hosting account exceeded it's monthly allocation of bandwidth, and a little image was shown (instead of the photo) that said something about image removed or bandwidth exceeded. Unfortunately there are some folks out there who think it's more entertaining to put a nasty photo in place of a warning.

My 'net connection is really slow today. I deleted them, finally... but made a copy in the Staff area so that we can continue to shame Hatmaker for it.

I've worked inside an industry where no one can possibly be an expert in every aspect of every product-line, so I guess I have become more tolerant to the simple honest fact that no one knows everything there is to know about every item up for sale. A younger salesperson more in tune with "tactical tupperware" style firearms really has no reason to know what parkerizing is, since not many of that type of firearm is park'ed anymore. If they are, the parkerizing is covered by another finish. An older salesperson may not know much about the latest combat-style carbine or sub-compact pocket pistol, but he may be the shop authority on sporting rifles, shotguns and revolvers. Because of that, if I have a question about a firearm I try to (a.) research it online myself first or (b.) ask at the shop, "Who here is the authority on these types of guns, and may I speak with them?" Just because a shop employee can't tell you everything there is to know about one of the two hundred firearms they have in stock, that you have chosen at random, it doesn't mean that there is not a value to dealing with a brick and mortar authorized distributor of whatever it is you're wanting to buy. I didn't expect the guy at the used car lot to know everything about my Ford F250 either. If I had walked off the lot because he couldn't tell me how to replace a glow plug in the Diesel engine, I would have been an idiot.

I understand your point, but I'm talking about good gun shops. I don't want to exclude anyone but the two that I know for certain have done in-store exchanges for customers with faulty firearms are Guns & Leather and Hero Gear. They sent the firearms back for service on their dime, but the customers walked out with new firearms on the spot after doing their 4473's. The majority of the time you will probably never have a problem (unless it's a new Ruger and they tend to go back to the factory a lot lately it seems) so buying from someone who is more or less just a transfer agent is a good way to save money. It's those occasions when something goes wrong that it's nice to have a good relationship with a good gun shop. Again, not dogging Belshire at all. I met Phil once and he was a super nice guy. If I am ordering a Glock or other 99.99999% right every time out of the box firearm, or a DeWalt drill, I would use him.

Don't take this as a knock on Phil or Bellshire, but... Who exactly supports you after the sale on a gun purchased this way? Phil seems to be more into the "FFL transfer" business and not so much as a stocking dealer with strong relationships with the various manufacturers. You look at it as getting a bargain. I agree, it's a bargain. But bargains aren't all that great once you factor in after-sale support and service to your firearm. That's why I like to patronize actual gun stores. Your mileage might vary.

About two months ago. I really don't waste my time heading over there any more since there are many other shops local that have infinitely better customer service.

When was the last time you were at Hero Gear? They knocked a wall out and kept going... so their selection is huge.

HK P2000 .40 in an MTAC. This gun is quickly becoming my favorite for carry and I am questioning why I ever let the last one go. We went bowling last night and I wore it the entire time; no problems and very comfortable. Went bowling again today (bad idea doing that twice in a 24hr period) and again it was very comfortable and presented no problems. This combination of gun and holster is perfect for me.
