  1. Disregard my previous statement then. Check and make sure you don't have some bogus plugins installed in Firefox.
  2. Malwarebytes is even better at catching the really devious stuff. If you're anywhere near needing to re-up your antivirus software, look at ESET's NOD32 software. Lean and mean.
  3. Dude, you're not getting it. If you want to support TGO, fine. If you don't, fine. If it's because I didn't pet your fur in the right direction... fine. I stopped trying to please everyone all the time a long time ago. TGO isn't about me, it's bigger than that. So if I'm the reason why you decide whatever you decide... whatever. I hope you get your computer problems figured out.
  4. Spyware on your computer.
  5. Do whatever you feel lead to do. If my refusal to support your home computer factors into that decision, I will gladly forfeit the $35 and consider myself ahead in the game. PS: Batman's answer was just quoting what I had said. So you're welcome.
  6. PS: It's interesting what comes up when you Google the guy's name. I found this particular item to be rather disturbing... Employee resigns after stealing $4000 from Scott County Circuit... - Topix
  7. Ink doesn't work that way, n00b. It's metric.
  8. I made it a point to buy a lot of my favorites on DVD last year. I've got all of the perennial stop-motion favorites like Rudolph Saves Christmas, Frosty the Snowman, etc. but we also picked up the original The Grinch as well as the Jim Carey Grinch and a few of the others already mentioned here. This year I need to pick up a copy of Scrooged. Possibly one of the best yet most underrated of the holiday films.
  9. I'm downloading ink to your printer... now.
  10. You're hired.
  11. Hollywood bullets.
  12. Polly took it right in the chest, too.
  13. Ok, I can add that.
  14. I forget when this season started... month, I mean. How long do we have to wait? At least the new season of 24 starts in January.
  15. One last thought from me on this subject before I have to get to work... Tennessee Gun Owners - FAQ
  16. Are you talking about the Reviews feature?
  17. And for the record... I haven't had to sign in for nearly two months.
  18. Oh, I'm sorry... you're right. I should assume that the other 5,800 members who aren't having a problem are the anomaly and spend even more time working on TGO than I do right now, chasing a problem that doesn't exist, when I know good and well that nothing has changed on our server ... especially since our server has absolutely no control over what your computer does with a cookie file. Almost 100% of the time when something like this comes up, it's because of antivirus / antispyware / firewall / security software on your computer. But let's pretend like I know nothing about computers and that I don't support enterprise-scale networks for my day job, and that I have scads of free time to chase down what's wrong with your computer, diagnosing it across the Internet (which is a lot like changing the oil in your car by going in through the tailpipe). For free. Sorry, I guess I got off on a bit of a rant myself. PS: TGO uses the vBulletin default of keeping your session active for 900 seconds (15 mins) without any activity on your part. If 15 mins passes and you haven't clicked a link on TGO or posted a thread or a reply, your session cookie expires. If that happens and you hadn't checked the box at the login prompt that says "Remember me" then you will have to sign back in. And if you have software on your computer that is screwing with your cookie sessions, it won't really matter anyway. Too many variables that I have absolutely no control over are at play here. Which is why I suggested having a friend who knows more about it than you might, come over and look at it for you. Or barring that, getting tech support from a pro who's in the business of supporting home computers.
  19. Good finale... I did see the kidnapping coming, however. As soon as the Irishman picked up the car carrier I told my wife, "He's going to kidnap the baby." I did expect Tara to get injured, however. I didn't expect him to just gag her and leave her behind.
  20. *sigh* Absolutely nothing has changed on the server. I would know. I'm the only person who could change it.
  21. This wasn't something officially created by TGO's ownership; it was a grass roots effort among several members that erupted spontaneously. It's pretty hard to predict and then promote something like that.
  22. I just find it rather unsettling that anyone enjoys seeing other people stressed (a definite form of misery) at this time of year. Is that a problem to me? Yeah, I guess is. Especially when you contrast a statement like that with the fact that quite a few TGO members just gave out of their own pockets to lessen the stress that complete strangers are experiencing. It just seems... I dunno... sadistic? Humbug was a good title for the thread.
  23. Why would you take joy in other people's misery???
  24. It is beyond the scope of what can be expected of either myself or the moderators to provide "tech support" for issues pertaining to a person's web browser, their security software, why cookies aren't being saved, etc. Over 700 regular visitors come to TGO each day and only a half dozen or so have ever reported problems with viewing or staying signed in. In other words, this is a problem with individual computers -- not with the server or the site. Individuals having problems need to seek competent friends or use hired-support people (Geek Squad, etc.) to fix whatever is wrong with their computers. We limit the amount "guest browsing" because each instance of guests viewing threads takes away a small bit of the server's power to fulfill page requests made by our registered members. It does not seem fair, therefore, the show a lack of bias toward our registered members who may have their own enjoyment of the site impacted by having so many unregistered guests taxing the system.
