  1. *sigh* Absolutely nothing has changed on the server. I would know. I'm the only person who could change it.
  2. This wasn't something officially created by TGO's ownership; it was a grass roots effort among several members that erupted spontaneously. It's pretty hard to predict and then promote something like that.
  3. I just find it rather unsettling that anyone enjoys seeing other people stressed (a definite form of misery) at this time of year. Is that a problem to me? Yeah, I guess is. Especially when you contrast a statement like that with the fact that quite a few TGO members just gave out of their own pockets to lessen the stress that complete strangers are experiencing. It just seems... I dunno... sadistic? Humbug was a good title for the thread.
  4. Why would you take joy in other people's misery???
  5. It is beyond the scope of what can be expected of either myself or the moderators to provide "tech support" for issues pertaining to a person's web browser, their security software, why cookies aren't being saved, etc. Over 700 regular visitors come to TGO each day and only a half dozen or so have ever reported problems with viewing or staying signed in. In other words, this is a problem with individual computers -- not with the server or the site. Individuals having problems need to seek competent friends or use hired-support people (Geek Squad, etc.) to fix whatever is wrong with their computers. We limit the amount "guest browsing" because each instance of guests viewing threads takes away a small bit of the server's power to fulfill page requests made by our registered members. It does not seem fair, therefore, the show a lack of bias toward our registered members who may have their own enjoyment of the site impacted by having so many unregistered guests taxing the system.
  6. Probably not something you'd say to my face, so I'm not going to bother. Why are you supporting this site if you believe that's the way I conduct business?
  7. With that out of the way, your options are simple: a.) Leave your firearm in the car b.) Do not eat there When choosing "B" you are not necessarily boycotting every restaurant that serves alcohol, you are simply choosing to exercise your right to choose whether being armed is more important than enjoying a meal at whichever restaurant is in question. Many of us have consciously chosen option "A" for years now, therefore this is just more of the same for us. My problem with what was recommended is this: Obviously if you follow the law, you weren't going to carry into a restaurant that serves alcohol anyway. You would have either disarmed or not eaten there. The recommendation by Hex Head was that we all forgo our ability to choose option "A" and just boycott all of these restaurants... period. In other words, strong-arm the restauranteers who had nothing to do with the law being passed or repealed, and punish them for not going out of their way to shower the HCP holder with support. That's what I consider to be a thuggish tactic. But you probably already knew that, right?
  8. Nope. I'm enjoying the season for the reasons it was intended, not the reasons that Wal-Mart wants.
  9. Folks... On November 18th of this year, BrooksJr, one of our members, started a thread offering a Christmas gift of $100 to a member of the TGO community who needed some relief during the holiday season. BrooksJr's thread quickly grew as other members of TGO jumped in and added their own money to the offer until the grand total stood close to $4,100 collected. Subsequently, several worthy cases have been addressed and will be receiving assistance from this spontaneous fund raiser. On Tuesday, November 24, a five person panel of respected TGO members convened for a telephone conference call to review the solicitations for help that had been submitted to Brooks, and several decisions were made. The members on this conference call were: Mrs TGO David (my wife) Bronker Gun Geek JeffsSig MacGyver Also present were both myself and BrooksJr although we both abstained from participating in any votes. We were simply present to moderate the call and to provide additional information as requested by the five person panel. Distribution Of Assistance... To respect the privacy of those who will be receiving assistance, I am not going to name "cases" or names. However, I am happy to announce that the assistance is being dispersed in the following formats: #1 - $600 for Walmart gift card #2 - $100 for Kroger gift card #3 - $50 Kroger gift card #4 - $150 Toys R Us gift card #5 - $300 Kroger gift card, $300 Walmart gift card #6 - $300 Kroger gift card, $300 Walmart gift card #7 - $100 Kroger gift card #8 - $300 Kroger gift card, $300 Walmart gift card #9 - (2) $100 Walmart gift cards #10 - $100 Toys R Us gift card or Toys In addition to these specific needs which were met, the TGO community will be donating approximately $1000 to the Toys For Tots program administered by the United States Marine Corps. I would like to thank all of you who participated in this amazing display of spontaneous giving, and will be working through the list of participants as provided by BrooksJr and will be assigning TGO Benefactor status to anyone who contributed at least $100 to the effort. I hope to accomplish that part of my to-do list by the end of the day. Thanks again, and Merry Christmas to all of you.
  10. It looks rather Heckler & Koch P30-ish to me...
  11. Why would you want to pay for something you've never even seen before? I want to at least see pictures and read an in-depth review or two before I sink my money into a gun that hasn't been made available yet. I seriously doubt there will be a huge shortage of 4th Gen Glocks since Glock GmbH doesn't normally operate like that. For what it's worth, however... I have read some reviews by people who have seen pre-production models and they were all very complimentary save for some negative points regarding a dimple in the grip area and how it affects the feel of the gun in your hand when you use the largest backstrap.
  12. The server doesn't do that. It's a browser issue.
  13. You should curtail that in subject lines, especially in the topic-centric forums, since many people search subjects for threads relevant to whatever they are interested in at the moment. The title is misleading.
  14. Melonite would actually be a little better than Tenifer, IMO... less slippery, more grippy.
  15. It's not that the thread is inappropriate, it's just that the subject and content really gave no indication of what you were asking. Thanks for clarifying.
  16. The subject leaves much to be desired. Are you asking or telling?
  17. Compatibility problems usually means that the manufacturer has chosen not to support a legacy app or piece of legacy hardware. That is always going to be the case with each iteration of an OS.

    Glock 19 SFS

SFS generally is used to denote "steel fixed sights" on other handguns. I'm sure the bozos at whatever auction-house that posted this just use SFS to denote that the gun has the crappy standard Glock sights rather than the Glock night sights.
  19. I'd appreciate you not trying to be cute and bypass the word filters like that.
  20. The last time Glock released new gear at SHOT, they were shipping to their vendors within a week.
  21. Windows 7 is good to go. Anyone having problems is either being screwed by hardware or third-party software issues... or just doing it wrong. I've upgraded all of my Windows machines at home with it and have had zero problems. Zero.
  22. RTF2 grip texture, reversible mag release, interchangeable back straps and standard slide serrations have been confirmed. Have not heard anything about finish options (doubtful) or sight options (doubtful).
  23. You'd think that about Beware of Dog signs also, but people have been sued on the premise that "they knew that their dog had dangerous tendencies". Nice, right?
  24. Probably not what I'd want as an opposition exhibit at my hearing if I had to shoot some scumbag who was trying to break into my house.
