  1. I don't mind criticism but I do mind liars. 1.5 firearms vendors? You either didn't actually attend or you walked in the door and right back out it. The rock wall has been entertaining the children all morning. It's provided free of charge by the United States Army and the kids are eating it up. If you've got a problem with duck calls being at a firearms exposition, you probably are really pissed every time you walk out of every other gun show in the area. Frankly, you sound like you're probably on another organizer's payroll.
  2. I'm not here to defend the event; if people think it sucks we'll just take that on the chin and try to make it better next time. But... those of you complaining about quantity of vendors: Did you actually look at the tables that our vendors have, and check the prices... or are you pissed because there weren't more to window-shop at. I know for a fact that several of these vendors are selling firearms at extremely reasonable prices. And by reasonable I mean $200 off in some cases. If you want us to put on a show next time with a room full of the same overpriced vendors that are at most of the local shows, we'll make an adjustment in our theory of operation and stop trying to innovate and just give you guys another show to complain about.
  3. Mags. Lots of mags.
  4. PS: Part of the reason no gun show organizers post the list of what vendors will be present is because that list is in a constant state of flux all the way up until the day the doors open. I've learned that lesson the hard way by handling the bulk of the vendor logistics for this event. We've had several big vendors remain stable throughout the entire planning process but we have also had a few smaller guys drag their feet on submitting their booth rental and subsequently lose their spaces to other vendors. I added two more vendors just last night. So... any list I post would be outdated by tomorrow. It's literally like herding cats.
  5. I'll attend the show you're producing this weekend since it will obviously be closer, right? Oh wait... you aren't producing one. You're just complaining. The bottom line is that you can make most of the people happy some of the time, and some of the people happy most of the time, but never make everyone happy all the time. We all should have learned this in grade school but for some reason a few people on TGO have perpetually agitated gender organs and just have to share their negative outlook on life every single time they post. Winchester is equally distant from Nashville, Chattanooga and Huntsville and it has a massive building that we were able to obtain for a reasonable sum. Those two factors alone made it an easy decision. It's not like Joe isn't willing to drive to Nashville, and I'm driving almost as far as you would be if you were attending, Mr. Robocop, and I have a lot more at stake than an $8 admission if the show, against incredible odds, ends up sucking. I keep reminding myself that there is a quiet majority of people who are glad we're doing this. If I were to listen to the bunch of complaining and griping going on in this thread, I'd probably just cancel the thing entirely and stay home with my family instead. No good deed goes unpunished!
  6. It was deleted when the account of the person who started the thread was deleted. Your good buddy Spuds was kicked off of the site months ago but keeps signing up under duplicate accounts.
  7. Nobody ever pays me in gum.
  8. Those had nothing to do with the intent of this thread. That guy was just on his period about every single firearm/cartridge in popular culture. This thread is about all of the stupid things you've ever heard or read about a firearm.
  9. 9mm is just .45ACP set on stun You need to carry a caliber that starts with the number 4 (.45, .40, .44, etc.) I only carry a revolver because semi-automatics are failure-prone A person shot with a .45ACP will spin completely around / lose an arm / disintegrate The sound of a shotgun pump being racked will scare a burglar right out of your house You need a shotgun for home defense because you don't even have to aim it, just point it in their general direction
  10. I saw a thread similar to this on another forum and thought it would be fun to start one here. Feel free to add your own. 1.) If I buy a new pistol, my shooting will improve 2.) Low left - it's the sights/trigger 3.) The grip angle is very important to shooting well 4.) I only need 5/6/7/8 rounds for any gunfight I'll be in 5.) I don't need to practice malfunction clearance, I just need a "reliable" handgun. 6.) Practicing shooting weak-handed is a waste of time 7.) My XYZ pistol is better than your ABC pistol because it is metal/plastic/German/double-action/has a thumb safety/etc
  11. Subtle... it snuck right up on me.
  12. Congrats! You've begun thinning out the nitwits that you unknowingly associated with.
  13. Way to go. If Google breaks today, I'm telling on you.
  14. By the way, spacing the letters out in words to add emphasis (L I K E T H IS) is pretty goofy and not only makes the posts hard to read, but also renders parts of what you say completely useless to our site's search engine. If you want to add emphasis, use the editor to add bold text, italicized text, underlined text or something like that. It will work better for the humans reading your posts and the site's search engine for indexing and cataloging what is said for the benefit of others. Thanks.
  15. Different tastes are what make capitalism a great thing; there's a gun manufacturer out there who probably makes whatever you like. That said, I just have a pet peeve when some people say that XYZ is an unsafe or inferior product because it isn't in line with their personal preferences. I see a lot of people get steered wrong in gun shops, by gun owning friends, and by things said on the internet because of personal preferences being misrepresented as facts. Preference: Glocks aren't for me because they don't have an external safety, and I prefer that sort of configuration on a handgun. Misrepresented as a "Fact": Glocks are unsafe because they don't have an external safety. You'll shoot yourself in the face just by looking at one.
  16. No. What is safe to say is that you prefer the mental comfort of a manual safety switch as opposed to the three internal passive safeties in the design of the Glock. That does not mean that your CZ is a more safe design than the Glock. This horse has been beaten to death by countless others both here and elsewhere in the past. If an external safety is your thing, you don't need or want a Glock. It's not a Glock issue, it's an owner issue.
  17. Which is precisely no more safe than a Glock with one in the chamber.
  18. Why in the world...
  19. Yeah, it's the Micro T1. One of these days I'm going to replace my big-ass Aimpoint ML3 with that.
  20. A little care and common sense on the part of the operator would accomplish the same thing. Of course, Glock could always complicate their firearm by adding nanny features for the idiots who can't remember that they are holding a deadly instrument in their hands that deserves all of the care and respect of such when it comes time to field strip them.
  21. Supposedly within $50 of the Generation 3 models.
  22. As promised, all who contributed at least $100 to this have been gifted with Benefactor status for a few years to come. A few who contributed way more than $100 have likewise been given even longer Benefactor subscriptions. Thanks again for participating!
  23. I've always wondered if the various online petitions for whatever may be in vogue at the moment are really worth a ****.
  24. I saw this on M4C the other day and am still a little undecided on it. I use a stubby VFG as a hand stop, but I can also use it as a traditional vertical grip if I need. I'm not sure I'd ever "need" to do either, but the versatility seems like a nice thing to have. The Magpul Dynamics guys are huge proponents of gripping the foregrip thumbs forward. Actually, DaCosta seems to wrap his hand completely around the foregrip with his thumb going over and around the top circumference right behind the front sight base. It's crazy, but jeebus the guy can shoot it like that and never seems to drift off zero.
