  1. If you sell a few of them, no big deal. If it becomes a frequent thing that you are doing to make additional money, it becomes a business ... even in the eyes of the government.

Eh... those GlockTalk fundraisers really annoy me for some reason.

Generic ads suck. Further, GoogleAds won't touch us because we deal with firearms related topics. Google is hugely anti-firearm.

Thanks for the help guys. I'd be lying if I said it wasn't a relief to see a few Benefactor memberships roll in as I'm looking at upgraded hosting packages. Most of them are $200-ish per month. I'll look into some sort of notification. I don't want the forum spamming you guys with email so it may just be a notice that you see on the forum home page or something. I remember my first modem was 300 baud Vic Modem. We thought we were kicking ass back in the day with we had CompuComm 17.9kbps modems that would only run that fast when talking to other CompuComm modems. We dispensed with the automated letters and started sending out singing stripper-grams. You didn't get yours?

As long as the site is self-sufficient the growth is not a problem. It doesn't become a big deal until we reach the point where the percentage of those financially supporting the site is critically smaller than the percentage who don't (we're heading that direction) or until some clown throws a fit that he can't post guns for sale without being a Benefactor. I'm sure people wonder why I don't have patience with people who try to cheat the system. There's the answer.

Thanks. Essentially the problem is that TGO is becoming a victim of its own success. The more we grow and the more people who pile on here at the same time, the more it pushes our current server setup to the limit. The changes that have to be made next were inevitable.
  7. Absolutely would not make that trade. The KZ45 is Wilson's oddball mutant polymer 1911... thing... that went absolutely nowhere and never gained any sort of following. Your HK45C is a much better firearm than that.

I made a lot of changes to the server config yesterday that made significant improvements. It's not perfect, but it's the best I can do for the moment. Going to another hosting company is going to involve nearly double the monthly hosting fees that I pay now... but it's something we're going to have to end up doing.
  9. Remington isn't exactly in the business of making firearms for one gun shop.
  10. Go ahead and send me your contact information so I can give it to the ATF agents when they ask.
  11. He is no longer a member here as a result of his own actions.
  12. Why is this in the support forum? Closing it.
  13. You're right. We should filter out racist terms no matter what race they are aimed at. I'll get right on that. In the meantime, you seem pretty grouchy. Go write some parking tickets or something. It'll make you feel better.
  14. Thanks for sharing your opinion. We filter several offensive words, the N-bomb being one of them. I see no problem with filtering a fairly racist term like Memph(rica) just as I see no problem filtering the N-Bomb. Stupid and Idiot are terms that know no racial boundaries, so I think we'll keep them around for a while. They are useful words for describing complaints about filtering racist terminology.
  15. Guys, give it a rest. I'm well aware of the problems. If TGO is down, go outside and enjoy life for a few minutes.
  16. Captain Obvious?
  17. What's up with all of the videos?
  18. 9/10 banned members agree.
  19. Yes, I know.
  20. That's the crowd I'm taking with me to Chicago when it comes time to kick some ass over the hosting company over-selling the VPS we're on.
  21. Yep... we're steadily outgrowing the capabilities of our existing web host. I'm looking for alternatives, but when these things happen there's no way I can fix it during the day while I'm at work. Sorry.
  22. FWIW, I do not see where he implied that in his post. Further, if he has a valid carry permit from another state with which Tennessee has reciprocity, he can carry here legally without a TN permit. Please... in the future let's not post hasty conclusions that the mainstream media can use against us.
  23. True indeed. This thread really seems to be poised to go downhill. Since I won't be around later to clean it up, I'm locking it now. The OP should probably take from this thread the fact that TGO's members are a little more analytical than most. If the OP wants to resume discussions on the topic, they should start a new thread with less pissing and moaning, and more details, and design the thread such that it is a productive discussion (of some sort). Barring that, it's probably safe to say that the matter has been discussed sufficiently.
  24. Post what you want it changed to. It will be tonight before I can do it.
