There is already a Citrix app for the iPhone OS. I'm completely onboard with this thing. I've held trying to even think about a Kindle or Nook or Sony reader because I knew it was coming. Now it's here, I'm sold.

I've purposefully avoided them because I think they look silly and degrade the professional appearance of our forum. They also somewhat portray gun owners as being trigger happy hooligans who view our sidearms as "toys". Tell me honestly... do these smilies portray gun owners as responsible or in a positive light??? I don't think they do at all. I pretty much hate them.

It does happen but we try to police it and the forum software has triggers that normally tattles on people when they try it. A persistent person will find a way around almost any locks, so it's not perfect. I say that we've never allowed a Mob-Rule mentality to fly around here and I'm not about to start letting it happen even in regard to people posing as LEO or MIL if they aren't. Should we be equally bent out of shape if people also indicate themselves as being NRA members when they aren't, or a male or a female when they are neither, or having a HCP when they don't, or being deployed when they aren't? I'm not really going to sweat the petty things like the unverified icons that we have. I suppose we could just ditch them entirely, but it seems a bit unfair to punish the majority because of the sins of the minority. So I guess we'll keep them around for now. Besides... people invariably expose themselves as posers if they are chatty enough. It should be fairly easy for folks to determine who the real deal is.

Folks I just don't have time to organize this anymore. That, combined with the wild goose chase trying to find locations have lead me to just stop thinking about it. While I don't like it when supporters gang up on non supporters, there's no denying that supporters are the lifeblood of a good forum. Everyone else benefits from their generosity so as a result an attitude of "superiority" can develop over time if not kept in check. I think GT has suffered from it not being kept in check. I didn't demean anyone. I said his statement was stupid. I didn't say he was stupid, although I do have questions about anyone's capacity for rational thought when they make a statement as stupid as that one was. But that's beside the point. If a person can't stand having their stupid comments called out, then they shouldn't make stupid comments in the first place. Or at least not on a forum where people are marginally expected to back up their stupid comments with some sort of supporting evidence other than "HK's cost more money". Seriously, that's like saying wine sucks because it's more expensive than beer. File it under "DUH" and move on to a real argument if you're going to make one, right? And while I'm on a rant, I'm getting kind of tired of the silly +1 replies to threads. Of all the internet memes that bug me, that one probably bugs me the most. I think we need a Facebook-esque feature to denote that you like a comment rather than have silly +1 responses. Can I make a -1 reply? Because that comment about Glocks being superior based on price alone gets a big ass -1 from me.

Jesus... seriously? SERIOUSLY? We're going down that road again? The road where a moderator / admin / "leadership" person can't have an opinion? SERIOUSLY? I'm starting to see why I've enjoyed being so busy elsewhere that I haven't been able to post much here. And it's my own forum. Some of you need to get the sand out and realize that people don't always agree and don't always feel like candy coating their opinions.

Big forums tend to get watered down with B.S. unless the moderators take a hardline approach to it. It's just a fact of life on the Internet and TGO has suffered from it as well. That said, GT has some good Glock-centric info but I hate wading through the noise to find signal. I either ask my Glock questions here or I head to some of the "operator" centered forums and ask there.

I own both. I've owned several of both. I love my Glock 19 and it has never failed me, but I love my HK P2000 just the same and carry it even more. Why? Because I prefer it and I shoot better with it. You didn't like the trigger on your HK. That makes your statements subjective, the same as me liking mine is subjective.
