AR15.com has a decent size "Tennessee Neighborhood" forum. Combine forces with them, the TFA, etc. and start hounding Rayburn every time he dares use the media to spin his lies.

Now this character is stalking me on the Internet and has started sending bogus complaints to our domain name registrar (GoDaddy) and making unusual threats by email and by messaging on other social sites like Facebook. As much as I dislike casual use of the legal system, I'm convincing myself that this particular person is the kind for whom Emergency Protective Orders were designed. At least this way I have legal documentation of problems with them if they show unwise judgment and initiate some sort of physical confrontation.

That makes you a member of the "I post way too much information about myself" group.

What does any of it have to do with a privately owned and operated forum? I could refuse access to TGO to anyone who didn't have one blue eye, one brown eye and a left testicle slightly smaller than the right and be well within my rights to do so without fear of "discrimination". This isn't a government funded resource. I'm not an equal opportunity employer. I don't even have to offer a reason why I decide someone isn't suited to be a member of this forum. And I sure as hell don't capitulate to threats.

Seems like every time you see an Obama supporter in a gun shop, it is an opportunity to engage them in polite conversation and maybe open their eyes a little.

Back in August of 2009, I ordered some leather goods from T.T. Gunleather out in California. I just received it yesterday, February 13th. I believe that the wait time on their web site is sitting at 20 weeks. Clearly they're running a little behind on that. Regardless, here's what arrived: Inside the Wasitband for my HK45: Outside the Wasitband pouch for a single HK45 magazine: Outside the Wasitband dual pouch for a pair of 1911 magazines: Apologies for the fact that the flash blew out a lot of the highlights on the leather. I took those in a hurry with my Motorola Droid rather than dig my DSLR out of the safe and set up an elaborate shoot. I'm wearing the HK45 holster right now and must say that it's surprising how easy and comfortable it is to tote that brick of a handgun IWB with a good holster. Worth the price? Yes. Worth the wait? Not if you're the impatient type.

Sadly not even the money. I think it must honestly be the fact that I really "believe in" the cause. Ya know?

Received this from a former member who is pissed that they were banned because they couldn't follow simple little rules... Contrary to popular thought, life as a forum admin isn't all glitzy parties, stretched limos and half-naked ladies. I think I'm going to establish a new business called "Law Offices of My Imaginary Lawyer, Esq." because I swear to God that guy stays really busy.

As a follow-up... A thread like this is the last thing a forum admin wants to see first thing in the morning. A lot went wrong here and it started out by a moderator innocently doing what he felt was best for the forum. I understand why Strick closed the thread and can see why he felt that it teetered on the edge of illegal activity. I appreciate his vigilance and do not believe he did anything wrong. I have reversed the banning against Bassmaster since I feel somewhat confident that he did not realize "flipping" a firearm like that could raise eyebrows at the BATFE. Now he knows. Hopefully he'll use a little more discretion in the future, at least as it pertains to posting things like that on the Internet. HOWEVER... What rubs me wrong is the number of members who started piling onto the fight and arguing against what a moderator had done. Seriously? You people should all know by now that we don't cater to "mob rule" around here. Nothing was done by a moderator that couldn't be undone a few hours, or days, later. Nothing was done that couldn't be appealed to me if all else failed. One thing that I am not going to tolerate on TGO is anarchy among the members. As a result, I have banned quite a few people this morning. Most of them are just temporary one-week bans as a reminder that there is a chain of command here and it will be followed or there will be consequences. One or two folks are gone permanently as they have made it a practice to argue with the policies of this forum and with those tasked with enforcing those policies, almost from the moment they first stepped foot onto TGO. Let this be a reminder to everyone that there are right ways and wrong ways to handle disagreements with the forum staff. What happened here was a huge example of a really, really wrong way. I'm pretty displeased with some folks who really should have known better.

Patty, we have to do what draws the biggest crowds in order to make it attractive and profitable for the vendors who participate. While Winchester makes sense to you for personal reasons, it does not make sense to the vast majority of our vendor partners. I'm sorry but Winchester is a closed issue at this point. No sense beating that horse any further.

Well in this particular case I believe that the OP just wasn't pleased with the outcome of several threads. However, I do agree to an extent that we've again started to see more anti-establishment comments from people who hate the police, hate the government, hate people who don't vote like they do, etc. I want TGO to be a place where people can relax and enjoy themselves but I also want it to be a source of good information. As we've grown, I've noticed that sometimes the signal gets easily lost in the noise. Hopefully my schedule will start to gel a little soon and I'll be able to devote more time to the normal maintenance of the site. I also think that the moderating team needs to be resupplied and perhaps freshened up a little. Which comes as no surprise to the moderators as I've discussed it openly with them in the Staff area. Sometimes new blood brings new perspectives. Even if it's just adding to the ranks.

Tuesday, February 9, 2010 - For Immediate Release From the outset we have told you all that we were determined to produce an event that was far more than just another ordinary gun show. We believe that there are plenty of those and that they have all set the bar -- and consequently the expectations of the consumer -- pretty low. The mission of the Guns & Gear Expo is to assemble vendors and factory reps not seen at run of the mill gun shows and to raise the level of what you, the consumer, are willing to accept for the price of admission. As we have inched closer to the March 2010 show date, we have continued to receive good feedback from those who attended the December 2009 event. Many of the comments have centered around location. Specifically, there has been an un-ignorable demand raised that the event be moved closer to a major metropolitan area. We agree. Sadly there is not enough time left to move the March show to either Nashville or Chattanooga (let alone to decide which) therefore we are canceling the March date and setting our sights on hitting the 10-ring for June. We feel that it is better for our vendor participants and for you as the consumer if we postpone rather than push forward with a "bad plan" and risk producing something mediocre. It should be obvious by now that we just don't do mediocre. Please watch this forum and the GunsandGearExpo.com web site for further announcements regarding the upcoming change in venue. At first glance you'd think the two are in no way related. However on some laptops the battery is enough a part of the charging circuit (even with the power adapter plugged in) that a faulty battery will cause problems with other systems. We've seen this recently at work with two Dells and one HP laptop. While I have no proof that the Apple is the same, I have no proof that it is different either. If he knows he's having battery issues, I'd change the battery and see what happens. If for no other reason than the fact that a laptop with a known good battery brings more on the resale market than a laptop with a known bad battery.

Agreed. The decision befalls us all to either be a part of the solution or be part of the problem. Packing up your toys and going home does none of us any good. For what it's worth, I just don't have time to police the forum like I used to and am relying more on the moderators to do the dirty work for me. By and large they do a very good job, but there's only so much they can do in the present numbers. Perhaps it's time for some reinforcements.
