Rabbi (Bill Bernstein-Eastside) makes the Nashville Scene :-D
TGO David replied to Magiccarpetrides's topic in General Chat
That's "not exactly how it happened" either but I know you and Bill are tight so the literary liberties you take in downplaying it are expected. No skin off my schmeckle [sp]. (Oh look, I made a Gentile joke) Sounds like you need to read more before posting. This thread is done. I re-opened it because Steelharp more or less demanded (nicely) that I reconsider. I reconsidered and against my initial better judgment, did indeed re-open it. Now I'm pretty sure my gut reaction to close it down was the right choice. /thread -

You know... I think it's pretty much a load of crap when people use the whole "online persona" theory to dismiss what people say or do online. Online Personas aren't rogue entities just running around spouting off crap on their own. Some people just hide behind the keyboard and say things on the Internet that they wouldn't say in person, and it gets blamed on their "online persona". Guess what! Their online persona is THEM. -

Don't forget the fact that Bill, the super nice guy, also made it a point to mock the death of a wife of a very well regarded member here. Several days after she passed. I don't care if Bernstein suddenly gains the ability to heal the sick and bring about world peace, he will forever remain a piece of sh-t for that in my book. There are some things you JUST. DON'T. DO. I guess some of you prefer to overlook that. -

Paramilitary types? We're as much paramilitary around here as Bill is not an a--hole. I'm gad to see that the Nashville Scene has nothing better to do than write a seven page smooch-fest about Rabbi. The author must have gotten a smoking deal on a gun in exchange for that journalistic abortion. -
Thanks. I had a similar problem with Paypal the other day on my personal account trying to buy some crap on eBay. It lagged out just like you described. I wonder if it's a Paypal issue.

My vote goes to the Kimber Warrior and the Springfield MC Operator. Both are steel frame and both have the more traditional "half rail" on them. Finding holsters for railed 1911's is hard enough (but becoming easier), but finding them for full-rail 1911's is almost impossible.

No problem.

MCTS folks, you guys have malicious code running on your site. Most likely as the result of your server being compromised without your knowledge. Please have your webmaster check into it ASAP. In the meantime, I've deleted the link to your homepage.

I'd recommend ESET NOD32. You can see the software at ESET - Antivirus Software with Spyware and Malware Protection The best pricing I've found on it was at NOD32, ESET NOD32, NOD32 Antivirus, NOD32 USA, ESET Antivirus

I'm constantly amazed at just how good this software is and yet how cheesy the name is. We've used it a few times at work to get rid of things the other AV products couldn't.

Hmm. The UserCP is probably the last item I expected to hear anyone base their decision on. But you're right, it's a bit different!

I was on the Beta team for vB4 and even I held off upgrading any of my public forums with it. So far I'm digging it. The canned look and feel is pretty lousy but once you start customizing it, the software really shines. I'm getting close to having the TGO theme translated over for vB4 and will do the upgrade here soon. Most likely not this upcoming weekend (20th-21st) but the following (27th-28th). The part that is going to take the longest is the database conversion. Because we have so much data, it takes a while.

Close. He moved to Oklahoma.

Yeah it's hard to believe that anyone else might be entitled to an opinion, especially if it's not the same as yours. And God forbid if those people are in the majority because - well, they're really setting themselves up to be the recipients of your sarcasm. Maybe you should give up this tactic of whining about how the "politically correct types" are somehow squelching your right to have an opinion, and just have an opinion for chrissakes.

Josey, I really don't understand how you came to get so much sand in your shorts... but it seems to me that you should consider switching to decaf.

Welcome, Marco. It's a pleasure to have you with us.

Deleting your posts after you make them is pretty silly. Unless you've changed your opinion on the matter, of course. Otherwise, why not just stand behind what you have to say?

Common myth. Leaving them loaded doesn't affect them. It's the cycling between compressed and uncompressed that fatigues a spring over time.

Ugh. No offense meant to anyone who owns them but... I was supposed to do a review of one of these last year for a gun shop who wanted me to do a write-up. Myself and Todd from CIS took it out and ran about 100 rds through it and neither of us cared for it at all. There are plenty of better firearms out there for not much more coin. My review was pretty fair and unbiased, but I was asked not to post a write-up about it using their firearm after I declined to say good things about the gun. So much there not to like.

It is not uncommon for mass produced 1911s to need their chamber reamed out to SAAMI spec to cure failures to feed. If that's all they are doing, I would rest easy. That said... why the hell do people take their guns to places they've never dealt with before and THEN ask if it was a good idea? Seems bassackwards to me. Logic would seem to dictate that you would ask for a referral first and then act on what you learned. Oh well. Good luck.
-
Eh... I have owned a P220 and a P220 SAO in the past and still have all of my 1911's. They are nice guns for sure, but still not my cup of tea. JMB got it right.

Had to be a GlockTalk member.

It's all about tough love on TGO.

Thankfully I'm off today. We actually do on-call rotations (the cycle for which is too short, IMO) but I've also built a lot of new servers lately and have been fielding calls related to them by virtue of the fact that they are so new. I'd say that 9 of every 10 calls is a person assuming that the new server must be the cause of a problem, but I still have to dig and determine that this is the case before I hand it off to someone else to work. *sigh* Change is good, right?

After a year daylight graces the hood once more

I'd post in the domestics subforum. Lots of Lightning owners already do.
