  1. Ok, I'll step forward. It's not worth a crap. Do I want to get shot with it? No. I've been shot before. It sucks. But there's a difference between shooting someone with something that may not do the job and shooting them with something that is going to remove them from the gene pool. I'd prefer to use the latter. For what it's worth, most folks who know a thing or two about defensive handgun ammo want rounds that penetrate deep enough to get to the parts of the human physiology that will shut them down and take them out of the fight. If you're worried about missing your target and shooting through a wall and into the adjacent apartment, the problem isn't the ammo you're using.
  2. Recommend reading this and not necessarily trusting what ammo manufacturers say about their products since they might be biased. The Box O' Truth #1 - The Original Box O' Truth - Page 1 Of interest, the one about Extreme Shock... http://www.theboxotruth.com/docs/bot23.htm
  3. Scratched the itch today. New M&P 9c "pocket gun" courtesy of Daniel and the gang at Guns & Leather.
  4. If I was a lean, mean fighting machine like you, I wouldn't even bother carrying a gun.
  5. I'm reluctant to finance anything that I don't have to. Home, car... that's about it.
  6. Holsters are like religions. Everyone's got their opinion on which is the best, and everyone else's sucks. I have Comp-Tac MTAC, Raven Concealment Phantom (OWB) and Milt Sparks VM2 for my 1911s. By far the most comfortable IWB holster for me is the Milt Sparks VM2. The MTAC is a reasonably close second with the added advantage that you can get one in under two weeks generally. That said, if you're used to carrying with a paddle holster then you're probably going to be blown away by the difference ANY of these make when you're concealing.
  7. + + I want to make sure the police know who I am.
  8. This has been fixed.
  9. Ok, it should be fixed now. Here's the deal: Last week vBulletin released several back-to-back security updates to fix some pretty obscure but risky security holes in their software. One of the updates centers around the way passwords are encrypted in the database. If you're having problems staying logged in, you need to sign out, delete your browser cookies for TGO (or all of them if you don't know how to tell which is which) and then sign back in. This will force your browser to get a new cookie from the forum software and should keep you signed in from that point forward.
  10. Working on it...
  11. Ah... you've hit upon an item that has been discussed frequently on M4Carbine in their NFA items section. It's truly a gray area since the person or entity listed on the Form is the only party permitted to "be in possession" of the item. If you leave it on the bench, even though you are nearby, are you in possession? Odds are tremendously against you being hassled by anyone for it, but then all it would take would be a cop with a bad attitude toward NFA items and enough knowledge of the law to cause you some inconvenience at the very least.
  12. No worries. Honestly I've been doing a lot of R&D with vB4 on my other forum and I'm just not 100% sold on it yet. We may not even go to vB4 here. We may go an entirely different direction or we may hold and wait to see if some of vB4's quirks get worked out by the company that produces it. Regardless, whichever way we go will be the one I believe is best for TGO and keeps it as easy to use as possible. Both for you guys and for me and the others tasked with keeping it running.
  13. I was thinking that I might go for a Kahr PM9... and then started thinking about the Glock 26... but now I'm leaning toward an M&P 9mm Compact for some reason. I can't explain the way my mind works.
  14. I received my copy today as well. I suspect Bob Pope sent it out to members of the TFA - or the TFA sold him the mailing list or something like that. It's no secret that he and John Harris have worked together on quite a few things, and John has a lengthy article at the front of the paper. I haven't had a chance to read through it extensively yet but the pro-2nd Amendment bias was unmistakable. While I obviously think that it's a good thing, I also hope that future issues focus on other conservative issues as well. If it constantly focuses on firearms and nothing but firearms, it may end up alienating some moderate Conservatives who are conservative on many issues except firearms, etc. All in all, much better than the piece of crap publication that another local firearms community gadfly tried to produce (maybe still does?) a while back. At least Bob Pope can spell and uses decent grammar. Unlike the other dude. I'm looking forward to reading future issues.
  15. Thanks for reporting this. Apparently it broke when I added the most recent security patches. Fixed!
  16. That dog was 200% playing tug of war with that car. Our silly-assed Boston Terrorists do the exact same thing with ropes and toys. To that dog, the cop car was just playing - especially with the forward and reverse motions. Good doggie!
  17. It should be fixed now. I also spotted it on the Databases and the Reviews sections of the site. All of these are fixed.
  18. And so it is. Hmmm. I'll try to fix that this evening.
  19. Fixed. Thanks for reporting this.
  20. I rarely use the home screen so I missed that. I'm working on a fix right now.
  21. That's because your home page is set to Randy Rayburn's Facebook page.
  22. By all means feel free to organize a get together for the Memphis members.
  23. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/tn-gun-owners-announcements/37462-forum-maintenance-tonight-3-24-10-a-new-post.html And no, the new software isn't installed yet. I'm holding off for the moment. When I do upgrade us, you'll know it very easily. It's pretty different.
  24. Also, see this... http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/tn-gun-owners-announcements/37462-forum-maintenance-tonight-3-24-10-a-new-post.html
