  1. I'm looking at a few different options for this. Stay tuned.
  2. As much as I like my 1911s, you're rarely ever going to find me carrying one anymore. The G19 rides along way more often than not.
  3. I'm not even sure how to approach this without sounding like a complete smart-ass, but... so you have to press a key twice. That finger gets to burn twice as many calories as the other fingers. Soon, that finger will have an amazing physique and the rest of the fingers will be jealous. Use your middle finger for that extra clicking and you'll have a magnificent specimen to use when giving people the bird. Or.... use the navigation bar at the top of the screen and click once to jump up a level in the forum hierarchy.
  4. The file in question is part of the Facebook Connect feature. Honestly by running Dialup, you're slower than the lowest common denominator for 99.99999% of those who connect to TGO. I wish I could help you, but I can't make any changes to the server to fix that.
  5. Freaking sweet. Now if you could get your department to allow cocked and locked carry...
  6. I did not participate at the East Flank Park location but I was there on Saturday for about 4 hours (Carnton) and stopped by East Flank momentarily to check out a rig someone had on their FJ Cruiser.
  7. Well you should stop doing it from this point forward. It's not only not a good idea, it's a really bad idea. There is nothing in the firing pin channel that requires lubrication. Dropping oil in there WILL eventually lead to a failure to fire.
  8. Dropping oil into the firing in hole on a Glock is a huge no-no. Glocks do not require much oil at all and I really see no reason to oil the feed ramp, but certainly NEVER the firing pin hole.

    Idiot Scratch

I'd think that buffing that spot sufficient to remove the scar will result in a spot that is shinier than the rest of the frame.
  10. *sigh* Strel, please try to get along with folks and stop pushing people's buttons. I'm having a really hard time believing that you aren't here just to argue with people and amuse yourself. The more I become convinced that this is the case, the more I feel that your stay with us is drawing to an end.
  11. IF... If my aunt had balls, she'd be my uncle. /thread
  12. I'm not sure our Hand Wringer in Chief could handle the implications of our Armed Forces taking the kid gloves off.

    Bad English

I haven't read the thread in its entirety yet, but in case no one else pointed this out... you did improve your surroundings. You moved to America.
  14. Agreed. As for carrying a full-size 1911, keep in mind that most folks have no problem concealing the length of the slide; it's the length of the grip that protrudes and causes telltale "printing". If you are going to carry a heavier weapon, the key to your success is to view your holster and belt selection as an entire platform and not just individual pieces. Namely, select both as purpose-driven components of their ultimate combination. A good holster paired with a sturdy purpose-built gunbelt will allow to carry almost anything without fatigue and with better chances for concealment. I use a Milt Sparks VM2 and a 1.5-inch double layer cow-hide belt from The Belt Man, and can carry my 5-inch 1911 all day under a loose t-shirt or polo-shirt without fatigue or "being made" by anyone. Someone here already mentioned that they are using a Galco for this. I'm surprised they are having any success based on my previous experiences with Galco's mass-produced, flimsy, loose gun leather. Maybe they've improved their product since I last looked at any of it, though. With holsters and belts, you really do get what you pay for and it's typically not cheap to get something really good. But then again, if you trade guns frequently, this may not be for you.
  15. I've got two. Both are extremely meaningful to me. I've been tempted lately to go back for another. As they say, once you start, you'll find yourself needing to scratch the itch again and again.
  16. Incidentally... I've been in an accelerated training class all week and one of my fellow attendees owns a web hosting company in Huntsville, AL. Of course you know the conversation turned to my experiences with our current web host and the fact that I'd really like to invest in a dedicated server so that we're not sharing resources with God only knows how many other web sites. The short version of the story is that we're going to be moving forward with this as soon as he gets back to his office next week and he and I can put our heads together. I'll be very glad to be off of this virtual private server we have right now.
  17. Thank you for the kind words.
  18. Nice thumbs down. I almost missed that icon since it was hiding behind your Benefactor icon. I've discussed this before. Please do a search.
  19. Things to check: Any antispyware or antivirus software that may be blocking our session cookies from being written. Browser security settings prohibiting the same. 100% of the time this boils down to something on the client side (i.e. your computer) as that is where login information and session information are retained. I wish I could help beyond that, but I can't troubleshoot your computer for you. Sorry.
  20. The old theme is history. Sorry, but we're not going back to it. I am working on a toned down version for workplaces, etc.
  21. What browser are you using? What OS? Have you cleared your browser cookies?
  22. Jack, give it a rest please. There may be a problem with the search index which means I will have to shut to forum down again next weekend for a few hours to fix it. Until that happens, you can probably search til your M3 falls off and you still won't find whatever it is you're looking for.
  23. Just FYI.... I am going to create an alternate visual style that revises the header logo and replaces it with something a little less overtly "gun-ish" for those of you who like to keep a lower profile while surfing at work.
