  1. Agreed. As for carrying a full-size 1911, keep in mind that most folks have no problem concealing the length of the slide; it's the length of the grip that protrudes and causes telltale "printing". If you are going to carry a heavier weapon, the key to your success is to view your holster and belt selection as an entire platform and not just individual pieces. Namely, select both as purpose-driven components of their ultimate combination. A good holster paired with a sturdy purpose-built gunbelt will allow to carry almost anything without fatigue and with better chances for concealment. I use a Milt Sparks VM2 and a 1.5-inch double layer cow-hide belt from The Belt Man, and can carry my 5-inch 1911 all day under a loose t-shirt or polo-shirt without fatigue or "being made" by anyone. Someone here already mentioned that they are using a Galco for this. I'm surprised they are having any success based on my previous experiences with Galco's mass-produced, flimsy, loose gun leather. Maybe they've improved their product since I last looked at any of it, though. With holsters and belts, you really do get what you pay for and it's typically not cheap to get something really good. But then again, if you trade guns frequently, this may not be for you.
  2. I've got two. Both are extremely meaningful to me. I've been tempted lately to go back for another. As they say, once you start, you'll find yourself needing to scratch the itch again and again.
  3. Incidentally... I've been in an accelerated training class all week and one of my fellow attendees owns a web hosting company in Huntsville, AL. Of course you know the conversation turned to my experiences with our current web host and the fact that I'd really like to invest in a dedicated server so that we're not sharing resources with God only knows how many other web sites. The short version of the story is that we're going to be moving forward with this as soon as he gets back to his office next week and he and I can put our heads together. I'll be very glad to be off of this virtual private server we have right now.
  4. Thank you for the kind words.
  5. Nice thumbs down. I almost missed that icon since it was hiding behind your Benefactor icon. I've discussed this before. Please do a search.
  6. Things to check: Any antispyware or antivirus software that may be blocking our session cookies from being written. Browser security settings prohibiting the same. 100% of the time this boils down to something on the client side (i.e. your computer) as that is where login information and session information are retained. I wish I could help beyond that, but I can't troubleshoot your computer for you. Sorry.
  7. The old theme is history. Sorry, but we're not going back to it. I am working on a toned down version for workplaces, etc.
  8. What browser are you using? What OS? Have you cleared your browser cookies?
  9. Jack, give it a rest please. There may be a problem with the search index which means I will have to shut to forum down again next weekend for a few hours to fix it. Until that happens, you can probably search til your M3 falls off and you still won't find whatever it is you're looking for.
  10. Just FYI.... I am going to create an alternate visual style that revises the header logo and replaces it with something a little less overtly "gun-ish" for those of you who like to keep a lower profile while surfing at work.
  11. np. The others will require more coding on my part so they'll have to wait a few days until I have some spare time. I'm covered up with other things this week.
  12. In reality this is what the vast majority of people really need. Getting home is much more likely than getting out of Dodge, for a variety of reasons.
  13. Clear your browser cookies and try again. Your browser has cached the login information from before the server upgrade.

    Apple iOS 4

I'm just counting down the days til Cisco sues Apple over the acronym "IOS".
  15. If you want to do the honest thing, cancel the check and immediately send the person a $250 cashier's check or money order. That way the funds are truly out of your account and this guy has a form of payment that he can cash at his leisure. If you just cancel the check, you're in essence stealing from the person.
  16. WTF part looks like that??
  17. I think the language barrier killed the funny.
  18. Um... that doesn't even make sense.
  19. Sadly I didn't check this thread and was thinking this was happening next weekend. Obviously we weren't there. Spent the afternoon taking care of other things.
  20. Either put on your big boy pants and stop being a whiner, or don't visit TGO. I've read through this thread in its entirety now and have seen nothing that indicates anyone threatened you, and certainly don't see any reason to ban someone just because they think you're a left-wing loon.
  21. Sorry... I just don't know that I want to design for 1024px when so many people are using devices that have higher resolutions. The mobile version IS available via Tapatalk.
  22. Pretty slick. I just loaded it up on my Droid and like what I see.
  23. Someone asked about this in another thread. It's on my list of things to fix. The Benefactor icon should already be showing.
